Spiritual Mastery for the 21st Century
The Final Answer:
A Knighthood of Innocence
|
|
 |
by Dr. Gwen MacGregor |

"Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of life's longing for itself...You may house their bodies but not their souls, for their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow..."
- Kahil Gibran, The Prophet
Today as we face the advent of Spring, with its new blossoms and fresh green life, it is important to remember that like Nature, we will be springing forth into new adventures and traveling down wiser paths. One can't help but think of the children in the spring with their young hearts and open minds. The freshness, the innocence of our most precious resource is a great power within the Oneness of All.
Lee Carroll and Jan Tober remind us in their groundbreaking book,"The Indigo Children," that a new generation of kids are being born with the power of "Spring" at their command. They know how to seek the great adventure of life even as they take their first breath. Many are born to be captains of their own destiny and, their spirits come to us aroused and ready to enhance and expand an unfolding spiritual plan upon the earth plane. As we bring forth more of these indigo children, it becomes our privilege and our direction to be able to guide and protect this mighty force of innocents that are creating such a breath offresh air across the continents.
Over the past 18 years I have been working with such children and their parents in school systems, community groups and family settings. I belong to a child advocacy organization called the Good Knight Campaign for Protection which seeks to prevent violence against youth and empower children and parents everywhere. In my travels I met a most remarkable man who was seeking an army of dedicated volunteers or Good Knights as he called them, to bring back safety and sweetness to children and parents across the United States. As a former police investigator, he had experienced first-hand the incredible violence that is wreaked upon our children daily.
His vision of a knighthood of children, protecting one another and serving the community has become a battle cry for over 20 million people. Sir Edward-Michael Jagen entered the planet like most indigo children with a purpose encased in golden light and held before him li ke a flame. As a victim of abuse himself, he rallied with his pain and fear and fought his way back to the shining sword of command which he still carries as a symbol of his committment to keep all children safe.
Now, lest you think we speak only of physical safety, I will remind you that these children are the champions of tomorrow. What better way to train and outfit these indigo warriors than resurrecting a tried and true path such as a multi-cultural knighthood? This is not a knighthood of 1,200 years ago. The quest for today's knights is one of virtue, challenge, community service and protectorship of friends and family. Many metaphysicians believe that the great gift of tolerance and compassion will be manifested through the children of today. By teaching our youth to care about others and serve without hesitation, we are enabling a new mindset of God to unfold across the globe.
Now, here is the fun part. Imagine dressing up in armor, knighting kids with swords, watching the gleam in their eyes as you speak with them about being heroes and watching them jump up to take on such an ancient and noble challenge? As Joseph Campbell would remind us, we are the "heroes of a thousand faces."
Human safety, the ability to be warm, comforted, well fed and nurtured should be guaranteed but, we know life does not always play out that way. Here is where the beauty of this knighthood of children comes in. The spiritual purpose of this great crusade is one of self-esteem boosting, turning aggression into positive challenge and asking that the energy within each child be protected from any kind of violence.
We in this field of prevention know that abduction from your spiritual purpose and earthly plan can occur in seconds or minutes. It can happen while your parents verbally abuse you at home or when you are abducted at knifepoint. How then do we rescue the soul of each of these innocents? How do we help them to triumph over such tragedies and live to fight another day? Good Knights are dedicated to teamwork, the principles of the Round Table - what hurts you, hurts me and one for all and all for one.
Therefore, they teach and execute the "ABC's of Safety," to insure that no one around them goes missing or suffers the great loss of innocence. It is our children's right as well as ours to develop into the majestic, beautiful individuals that we all can become. As we guard the physical body with these 10 important tips for physical safety, we also maintain the integrity of the soul's purpose through discipline, community caring and an active resolve to remain the champion of our own destiny. By spreading this good news, we become not only a body of good knights but, fulfill a destiny laid out by most of our world's greatest prophets.
Two thousand years ago, Jesus asked the people he encountered to walk with him and announced a new way of becoming one with the Father. Here is the classic story of abuse and victimization laid out for our scrutiny even today. Very few of us have not known some manner of abuse. When we look to protect the indigo child inside outselves, we must remember that violence is preventable in many cases but, when it occurs, we cannot allow the inner child to be destroyed or changed into an abuser.
In every society there are Good Knights to walk the walk and show each and every child that they are most precious. That inner child is with us from the very beginning. Our society must change the way we educate and empower our children to grow. Prevention education, champion training with an emphasis on personal virtue and self-esteem along with multi-cultural tolerance must be stressed from an early age. Castles and round tables must be created in all our communities to insure that our children's personal growth is fired by imagination, community service and a multi-cultural tolerance that can bring nations closer together.
The lessons of knighthood extend throughout human history and cross all cultures and empires. Jesus hoped to establish a knighthood of brotherhood creating loving unions and breaking the boundaries of human fear forever. It has been maintained that as these many prophets, from Abraham to Buddha to Mohammed to Martin Luther King come forth, their truth was not recognized in their time. Better said, "A prophet is not recognized in their own backyard." Because it takes time for the spirit of such great masters to asssimilate into the consciousness of man, it is likely the lessons of Master Jesus, Mary and Mary-Magdalene are just now beginning to take manifestation onto the planet.
What better way to serve the child than to walk as a good knight of light, always reminding us of our greatness, our power to defend our body and mind and the sanctity of this great unfolding plan that never fails us? Dan Millman, Tony Robbins and Stuart Wilde are just a few of our light-bearers who have spoken of this idea of the spiritual warrior. It seems that the role of the disciple or good knight in the White Brotherhood will never go out of style.
What may seem even more remarkable in this time of turbulence is that a great knighthood of children, not necessarily adults this time, is carryingthe message of the Indigo Child for all of us. They are empowering themselves so that they may be the force of change on earth - a force that must remain unblemished and continually challenged.
The life of a knight is not an easy one. Protecting innocence is the right quest for our time. We must give these very special children and adults the opportunity to deliver their messages, to put their great ideas into action and allow them to serve the greater good in roles of protectorship and education. As we march into Spring, remember to hold your golden light before you like a great sword of truth. This is the age of compassion, mentoring and tolerant action. May you be at the front line of this grand army as it plays out in our time.
