Interview:
by Kristi
Chris and Ara Cormier are both psychic mediums and self empowerment counselors living in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Having seen them work and in talking with them regularly, I feel they have much to share on several topics, including how they utilize crystals in their work. What follows is a informal interview with Chris, Ara and myself. Enjoy!
How long have you and Chris been doing this type of work?
ARA: About 15 years for me CHRIS: About 5 years for me
Do you feel crystals can assist us? If so, how?
ARA: Oh absolutely crystals assist us! I believe as well that we don't even have to be consciously aware of how the help us. Take for instance someone goes shopping and spies a crystal that just looks so beautiful to them. They have no idea what it is, all they know is that they like it and want to have it.
This is the crystal's way of inspiring us into action. Their energy can provide an excellent opportunity to start a healing process or an offloading process (of old issues), without us even being aware. If we consider that the crystal that inspired us was a citrine, for example, we may have been focused on how we need to be provided for through an experience or situation.
The right crystal will catch your attention and once purchased, will set about vibrating the energy you most need to bearound. I just happen to think it is far more advantageous, not to mention - fun, to be aware of what is going on around us so we don't missone of these phenomenal opportunities.
CHRIS: I certainly agree! I recall when our friend was in the hospital last year. I suddenly felt very strongly to bring an amber to her. Notunderstanding the significance of amber, I decided to follow my intuition.
She was happy to receive it and as we were talking about how beautiful it was, it triggered a memory she had of the amber resin I keep near my computer. She absolutely loved the scent! So, on our next visit, we gave her a pouch to keep by her bed, filled with amber resin so she could enjoy it anytime she liked.
After talking to you, Kristi, we learned that amber is a wonderful crystal to aid the liver. Our friend had tumors on her liver so we quickly could see why I was a) attracted to this for her in the first place, and b) why she found it very comfortable to be around.
When did you begin utilizing crystals into the work? and how do you do so?
ARA: I started using crystals about 12 years ago. I had read somewhere they were wonderful to meditate with. I gave it a try and was truly amazed at the difference! Once I realized how a quartz crystal enhanced and amplified energy, I soon began experimenting with different ones and doing different things with them. Scrying was by far the most rewarding!
It was incredible to see movement within the crystal itself. Now I use differentkinds of crystals to enhance the energy when I do readings. I have a few favorites at present, which are an atlantean wand (gifted by you!!), a serefinite, and a recorder crystal. While I understand it isn't the crystal doing the work, I cannot dismiss it enhances the quality of work I do.
CHRIS: I've been using crystals about 5 years now and find they enhance the quality of work I do as well. I have meditated with several different kinds and enjoy the different qualities each one presents and incorporates into the meditation. I have also discovered my keen interest in how crystals can aid in the healing process, either physical, or emotional, and never hesitate to suggest, or offer, a specific crystal to a client if I am nudged to do so. It's almost like they jump out at me and tell me they need to be with that person. I can certainly see how crystals are 'living' energy!
Do you suggest crystals to your clients and what do you base those
suggestions on?
ARA: I think Chris said it all in his previous answer. I will suggest or
offer crystals if I sense a block within someone's chakra system. Crystalsare great penetrators in that regard. While we caution clients that crystals can go a long way in helping unblock stuck energy, they will also give respite and some clarity to specific issues so that one may see the source of the blockage and begin the healing process. Personally, I go by feel when suggesting a specific type of crystal, generally predicated on the existing chakra system.
CHRIS: I do that as well, and as I said just a moment ago, often a specific crystal will almost call out to me. I recall one instance where I had just acquired a Peridot. I was quite amazed at what this tiny green crystal helped me with! An issue that I had managed to bury for quite some time, was instantly brought to the forefront which allowed me to deal with it once and for all.
Shortly after that, while visiting friends, I was nudged by this crystal and I found myself giving it to one of the friends we were visiting. While it was my only Peridot, there was a moment of hesitation, but then went with what the crystal actually was suggesting, and I gave it
away. The very next day, while visiting a local crystal shop, I was heading to the door to leave when the shopkeeper came up to me and said, "Excuse me sir, but this little one insists on going home with you. There is no charge." She opened her hand and there was a beautiful Peridot! I quickly learned that when crystals are meant to be with someone, they will let me know, and I should always follow their advice. Furthermore, it becameevident, that the ones that need to be with me will always find me.
What would you suggest to those who may want to raise their vibrations in order to communicate with spirit/angels/guardians?
ARA: First and foremost, I will always start people at the beginning, and that is to establish a connection to themselves first. I believe once one has that strong sense of Self, and who they really are, the rest just will unfolds exactly as, when, and how, it should. Usually I will suggest a quartz crystal to start with.
If I feel the client is expressing a stronger male energy, I will suggest a milky, or cloudy quartz, which is more feminine, so as to help restore a balance in their energy. Likewise, if I feel the client is expressing a stronger feminine energy, I will suggest a very clear quartz which is more the male energy to help aid in the balancing of energy. If I suggest anything else, it is usually a rose quartz which is simply for gentleness, especially if the client is easily excitable or prone to drama.
CHRIS: Raising your vibration is always a good thing, however, my caution would be for people to know the intent in what they do. Knowing Self, as Ara mentioned, is paramount to getting where you want to be in every aspect of life on this plane, as well as in our multi-sensory mode of existence.
I would also offer a clear quartz or a cloudy one, depending on what I am feeling from the client at the time. I think as well, both Ara and I tend to look at the chakra system as well as we read and we may also suggest different crystals according to the blockages we see according the color of the chakra affected.
Neither one of us believe it is actually the crystal itself that brings guides or angels close to us, but they definitely do enhance our own energy and provide the clarity so that we may know ourselves well enough to recognize when something of a multi-sensory nature is occurring. I am sure that some crystals probably work better than others in helping us get to that level within ourselves to experience that connection to guides etc., and at the moment, I am not quite sure which one those are. I will always defer to the expert, which would be you Kristi!!
Explain to our readers how you utilize crystals in your chakra clearings/balancing. What do you "see" or "feel" and how does the crystal or crystals assist you in this work?
ARA: Wow, chakra clearings! I love doing those! Chris and I work as a team during this work. He leads the client through a guided visualization meditation, starting at the 1st chakra. While he is guiding them, I am placing a quartz crystal on the chakra he is working with. The client is asked to visualize a beam of light (the color of the beam is in correlationto the chakra being worked on) coming down and penetrating the crystal.
This beam of light is amplified as it passes through the crystal and theblockage is actually dissolved quite quickly, usually. Then when Chris senses that the blockage has been cleared, or as clear as it is going to be at that point, he moves on to the next chakra, where I move and place the crystal accordingly. While this is going on, I am taking notes regarding what issues I feel are at the source of the blockage of each chakra. After the last chakra is cleared, we give the client a few moments to get theirbearings and usually the first words we hear from them are, "Oh, wow!"
The most common comment is that they feel completely balanced and generally feelwonderful. Once fully back in their consciousness, Chris and I do a reading for the client regarding the information that surfaced regarding the
blockages of each chakra.
CHRIS: What is amazing about this process is it shows people that what they often felt they had already dealt with, has not yet been dealt with completely. As long as there is a residue in the chakra, it will serve to block it over time. As well, as long as there is a residue in the chakra, it means this issue is still at play in their daily lives, influencing every thought and choice whether they are aware of it or not.
This process ofclearing/balancing goes a long way in helping identify the need for healing, and providing the clarity and direction in which we need to focus our energy. While we are sure this work would be as effective without acrystal, we are equally as sure that the client is receiving the utmost benefit from the process when we use one. It is quite something to hear after a session how a client has actually felt activity under the crystal, or heat under the crystal, as the work was being done.
Do you have an amazing crystal story you can share? Did this change the way you feel about crystals?
ARA: Oh my, do I have a story! I actually have many, but will share one of my favorites! I was shopping with a friend of mine one day. He was off in another part of the store while I was at the front looking at some crystal spheres. I asked the shopkeeper if I could hold this beautiful pink/peach swirling clouded sphere. It felt wonderful when I held it, but when I looked at the price, I knew it wasn't coming home with me.
Reluctantly, I handed it back and it was put away. A moment later I felt this hard tappingon my left shoulder. I turned to see who was there and when the shopkeeper asked me what was wrong, I asked her if she had seen who tapped me on the shoulder.
She looked at me a little quizzically and said no one had been around me at all! I felt foolish and busied myself looking at somethingelse when again, three hard taps on my shoulder, stronger this time. I must have looked startled because the shopkeeper looked at me and again asked me what was wrong. I said someone just tapped me on the shoulder again and this time they mean business!
At the same time we both looked to this beautiful star rose quartz sphere I had been holding just moments before. I simply said, "Looks like this beauty wants to come home with me!" and I ended up buying it on the spot! When I got it home, I found that she had (yes, she!) a wonderful quiet gentleness to her, and I named her "Whisper".
She really helped me kick up my scrying a notch or two!
CHRIS: I have several interesting crystal stories as well, and having shared one already, I will share a short one. I believe, Kristi, you sent me a beautiful, large green fluorite one day. Ara took one look at it and just fell in love with it! I had it resting on the palm of my hand as we marveled at how perfect it was.
Ara said that she wished she had a piece exactly like it and suddenly, we heard this cracking sound, and right before our eyes, this fluorite crystal broke completely in half. What is incredible about this was the fact that the way it broke gave us both a piece that looked absolutely identical to the other's! People who say crystals don't hear, don't know, and don't feel, haven't had THIS kind of experience before! If I hadn't of been a believer in their being living energy, I certainly would have started believing right at that moment.
There is a belief out there that healers "take on" the clients energies,
negative or otherwise. How do you feel about that and what can you suggest to those that will assist them in not acquiring this unwanted energy?
ARA: I have often heard healers say they have taken on negatives from their clients and often wondered why they do that considering they don't have to. It also makes me wonder if this is why healers themselves are the ones requiring treatment!
First and foremost, I don't believe anyone is a'healer'. That may ruffle some feather, I'm sure, but let me explain.Healing energy does not come from us, it comes through us. There is aconstant flow of energy at all times, in all situations. What 'healers'actually do, is simply focus the universal energy so as to facilitate a healing process which offers the opportunity, based on one's soul alignment, to either utilize or not.
We are all conduits of energy, whether we are in 'the work' or not. A conduit is a vehicle for which energy can flow through. Why is it then that healers would think that it only flows to them, then stops. There is no need to absorb energy then store it within ourselves. It may be absorbed, acknowledged and released into the Universal flow which transforms all energy into a benign form. Energy just IS.
Whatever we think the energy is, that will be our experience. So healers, to me, are seeing energy as a negative, and then soaking it up, not knowing or not aware that it should be released. I know Chris has more to say on this.
CHRIS: I see it much the same way. I would also like to add that at the beginning of this interview we stressed that knowing Self is paramount when entering into any 'work' of this nature.
To know Self intimately, is to know what you are carrying, and therefore know that whatever you feel at any moment may or not be yours to keep. Identifying what is yours to carry, allows you to release what isn't yours in quick measure. There are a number of visualizations to assist in this regard. One also can use, and I am sure you can suggest something here, Kristi, a crystal that is known for its absorbency of energy so that it holds all the energy and after cleansing it, the crystal is then ready to be used again. In any event, hearing how a healer takes on energy from a client allows me to become more aware of how the adage "Healer, heal thyself" came into being.
Chris and Ara are both accomplished authors, with many of their works posted online. They also offer psychic readings online, by phone or in person as well as chakra cleansings/balancing and self empowerment seminars. Visit www.earthlight2000.com for more information.
