Creating Bridges: Spirituality & Philosophy:

The Power Deck Card for May: Ecstasy
|
|
 |
by Lynn Andrews |
|
|
Ecstasy is a buoyant state of joy. One of the finest ways to maintain a state of joyousness is to examine the dark side of your being, that instinctual nature that most human beings repress in civilized life. Within your instinctual nature are the seeds of ecstasy. We tend to live in our minds, in our emotions, occasionally in spirit, and almost never in our instinctual depths. We are born as wild as mountain lions but live most of our lives like sheep, forgetting and denying whole parts of ourselves. Sit on the earth with your back against a tree, and get in touch with your roots, which move deep into middle earth; this will restore your joyousness and balance. Each day, listen to your body-mind and your heart. What are they telling you about a given situation? Ecstasy is like a windhorse waiting to be ridden-the last wild ride before your passage into enlightenment. Take courage and live your passion in ecstasy.

The painting by Rob Schouten is entitled Rapture. In this painting ecstatic feminity is a symbol of rapture. It shows that these stones are really alive, that nature is alive. True ecstasy is reached when we understand that we are a part of every living thing, that the sphere of universal knowledge is within our own process. We have already found our way home; we are already enlightened. We just don't realize it.
Ecstasy is in the west, because we must not be afraid to move into the ecstatic emotions that are within us. Do not be afraid to live in ecstasy.
As you meditate on this card consider the following: This message made me realize my need to
.. What I need to work on most is
.. I am out of balance in the area of
I need more clarity about
My lesson of power is
.. My fear is
Remember to listen to the movement of the spirits of place that are all around you, and move with them to the center of your universe, the center of your truth. Then you can truly be reborn into joy and transformation!
Prayer for May
One approach to my prayer book, Walk in Spirit, is to follow the seasons of the year by using the prayers related to that season. It is interesting to consider the symbology, to think of seasons of the soul as they correspond to seasons of the year. From the Spring season:
Morning Light Prayer
I would like to offer a prayer
To the morning light,
To the morning light that shimmers
On the face of the lakes,
And reflects the shadows of the great mountains
Across the faces of stone.
To the morning light that traces
The outline of the beloved,
And finds the field mouse
Scampering in the meadows.
It is in the morning light
That baby horses experience
Their first mouthfuls of sweet green grass.
It is in the morning light
That I walk beneath the trees,
And hear the wind singing from the north,
Bringing me messages
From the Great Spirit.
I watch the hawks high in flight.
I ask them to take a prayer to the Great Mother,
And tell her of my love for her.
Morning light from the great sun,
Our father power,
Fill me with warmth and strength for my day.
Illumine my path,
That I may understand where I am going.
Morning light,
The shadows of darkness
Flee from your awesome glow.
Morning light, you are like a child
I would hold and cherish.
Oh Great Spirit,
Thank you for your mysterious ways,
And help me to walk in your light
Forevermore. Ho!
Blessings and Light,
Lynn V. Andrews
