Astrologer's Notes:
More exploration of
Vocational Analysis Techniques
by Noel Tyl
The Midheaven Extension Process is a streamlined, organized approach to Vocational Analysis, perhaps the most difficult -along with Medical Analysis-dimension of astrological study and performance. It is absolutely vital for the practicing astrologer to be able to address vocational dimensions with secure understanding, so crucial is the job/career orientation in our lives.

Midheaven Orientation: Here, the Midheaven is Aries, ruled by Mars. -We are now going to locate Mars and watch its referencing channels throughout the horoscope.

We note first that this Mars is very closely quintile (creativity) with the Midheaven.

We see that it is in Capricorn: a strong administrative, promotion thrust to the public; Mars in the 7th at the Descendant. We feel this instantly.

Dispositor networks and aspects: Mars is disposited by Saturn, ruler of the 7th; a further statement of public presentation strength, with an administrative edge, even a government or ministerial connotation. We feel energy; we feel sternness.

Saturn is angular and conjunct Mercury, ruler of the 3rd House of communications, writing, selling, thinking.

Mercury in turn is conjunct the Moon, which is conjunct the Sun, which is conjunct Jupiter. We are seeing the development of a stellium, a group of planets all related strongly to one another. Even though Saturn is out of customary orb with the Sun, or Mercury similarly with the Sun or Jupiter, they are all allied with each other.

We can learn a very important astrological lesson here: the syllogism premise applies: if a=b and b=c, then a=c. Since Saturn is conjunct Mercury and Mercury is conjunct the Moon, Saturn's significance is brought into relationship with the Moon through Mercury, even though Saturn is nine degrees away from the Moon. Similarly, Saturn and Mercury are brought into relationship with the Sun through the Moon's conjunction with the Sun. -Part of this stellium display could well be presented in the form of a midpoint picture, Mercury=Moon/Saturn. The point is that Mercury is very important.

And, in extension of the Midheaven, we see through Mars that Mars is square to the Moon, and thus to Mercury through the Moon, etc.

Mercury is extremely strongly articulated within Midheaven extension. Mercury rules the 3rd, communication; communications must be in high focus for vocational fulfillment; communications sternly and energetically made out to the public.

Pluto is also related to Saturn-Mercury by square and then, through the architecture of the stellium, to the Moon and the Sun and Jupiter. Pluto introduces a government channel, perhaps; research definitely; empowering communications conspicuously. Pluto is disposited by the Moon, which is also central within the stellium.

Mercury also rules the 12th a suggestion always of the consultant, the government representative, a government tie-in. -So we have a man who will best be fulfilled communicating with high authority about research made through/within the government, through research about corporations, government, large business concerns.

The Moon is oriental - a very, very important consideration here, suggesting the teacher, the mentor, the guide, the coach; the use of information to teach or uncover what research discloses. -This man easily shows himself to be a consultant to the public through powerful communication skill and strong research.

Venus is the dispositor of the Libra stellium, and is actually in mutual reception with Jupiter. This dimension works into the communications profile as "publishing" (Jupiter). There are echoes of this through the 9th House Uranus square with Venus, with Neptune ruling the 9th House and being quintile Jupiter and sextile the Moon and Mercury.

ENOUGH.
There is no doubt that a discussion of vocational aptitude and interest would have to include writing, commentary, research, communications in many ways about government, big corporations, general business, delivered forcefully and educationally to the public.

This horoscope belongs to Jack Anderson, the hard-hitting syndicated columnist ("The Washington Merry-Go-Round") and extremely popular radio and television commentator in the 1950s and 1960s.

Midheaven Orientation: The Midheaven is ruled by Mercury, and Mercury is in Virgo, making it all-significant as the final dispositor and ruler not only of the Midheaven but the Ascendant as well. AND Mercury is square to the Midheaven! This woman leads with her mind, her information, her communication skill. -Mercury disposits Mars and Uranus; you can just feel the intensity here.

We can follow up the "communication" feel and check the 3rd House: Pluto, its ruler, conjoins the Sun and is sextile the Midheaven. "Communications" everywhere we look. -But what kind?

Special Measurements: The Aries Point (00 Cardinal Signs) orientation suggests that anything configured with it will be brought forward into the public eye strongly. This would be the vector of exposure for this lady's Mercurial skills and needs.

Here, we see Venus conjunct the Aries Point (two degree orb recommended). Venus has to do with the arts (or it could initially suggest, here in Cancer, a gentle handling of health, family, or security issues, i.e., nursing). Venus is squared by Jupiter, over the Signline; the initial image is reinforced strongly.

Venus is squared by Neptune (which it disposits), and this introduces the arts, show business, television, photography, music. AND Venus is sextile to Mercury … an idealization synthesis.

Our surmise is that there is a highly articulate, intelligent drive here to explore the values of family emotions and security through communications in the arts, in an idealized way, through television, drama, etc. That professional channel would be most fulfilling for the lady, for Loni Anderson who enjoyed a large television sitcom and motion picture career portraying the perfect pin-up lady with brains.

An intensely information packed Vocational Analysis Booklet guide with full development of the Midheaven Extension Process (some 75 pages, 37,000 words, and 25 examples) is available at noeltyl.com, MENU, BOOKS.
