The Law of Vitality
and The law of Clearance

The Law of Vitality
Today I'd love to share with you an inspiring law called the Law of Vitality. Some people come to me and say, "John, I'd love to have your energy. Where do you get all your energy for all the things you do?" And I say, "Well, being clear on where you're going in life is very important." Here are some of the secrets that help me live life with vitality.
One of the secrets to the Law of Vitality is to know where you are going. If you have a clear road map, it's easy to get there. Your energy soars. Another key is gratitude! If you have gratefulness to life, your energy picks up. If you're depressed about life and ungrateful, your energy shuts down.
A third aspect of building vitality is to make sure that you have some sort of moderation in your diet. People who go out and try to gain energy by "pigging out," thinking they are going to gain energy from food-this is not the way to do it! It has actually been shown that if you eat less, you'll have increased vitality. I don't mean starving yourself, or going on the "Handy" diet, but what I mean is to "eat light." Always walk away from the table feeling a little less full, rather than more. You will find you have more vitality. You might be a little thin. That's fine. It's better to have two pounds less than it is to have two pounds more. It's been shown that we live longer if we eat less. And we also have more vitality.
Eating less. Being grateful. Being clear on our mission. All these make a difference. The next key to vitality is water! People who drink a lot more water, rather than any other liquid, increase their vitality. I encourage you to make sure you drink lots and lots of water every day! Even when I'm writing and speaking, I'm drinking water, because it is a universal solvent, and it opens up to the universal mind.
Another element is breathing! Sit down and take deep breaths! My observation of some of the most magnetic and charismatic people in the world is that they breathe diaphragmatically. They breathe deeply. Like Pavarotti they breathe a very deep breath. I encourage you to stop now. Let your chest and abdomen fill up when you take a deep breath. In! Out! Let the oxygen come in! In Eastern mysticism, in the philosophies of the East, they describe a Parma in the breath. It brings life force in the breath. I believe that every time we take a breath, we do bring in a life force. So I say, "Breathe deeply. Drink a lot of water. Be grateful for what you have in life. Have certainty and clarity in your mission. Eat moderately."
The next thing to increase your vitality is to make sure that your vocation and avocation are the same, or connected. If you are not doing what you love and loving what you do, you have a brake on all the time. That is the fastest way to break down your energy. Run down and distract yourself with things you don't love doing? No. Define what you love doing. Be clear about it. And follow these principles that add vitality in life.
Last, but not least, one of the most powerful aids to add vitality is to smile! You know, if you do a little smiling, it does make a difference. It tends to change your physiology. And look up to life! Go outside and stand out there in nature and look up into the heavens and smile at life. Say "Thank you, Universe! Thank you for the gifts that I've been receiving!" Your vitality will pick up! Not only will you have vitality in your body, but also you'll have it in your creations and in your actions. You'll be a creative and productive individual by following the Law of Vitality.
The law of Clearance
Many of us walk around with baggage and burdens on our backs. It's as if we drag this huge burden on our shoulders, because of things in the past we've never gotten beyond, nor loved. I encourage you to do one thing. Make a list of every single thing in your life that you resent, or you have never loved-anything you think you made a mistake on. Anything you think you could have done "better!" Anything that made you think, "Oh, I hurt somebody!" Anything that you think you have done, for which you can't say "Oh, wow! Thank you!" to yourself about! Put them all on your list. And then go through those items, one by one, and ask yourself "How did it serve me, ultimately?" And "How did it serve others?" "How did it serve me?" "How did it serve others." Don't stop until you almost have a tear in your eye, as you suddenly discover the benefits and see the balance and the order and the gift that each of those actions and events were in your life.
I don't believe there are any mistakes in life. I believe that everything is an experience in life and a lesson, which teaches us how to love ourselves and how to love others. Look back in your life and clear out the illusions you have about yourself, or possibly about others. See "How did it serve you, and how did it serve others." "How did t serve me?" "How did it serve others?" Keep asking that over and over and over and over. Keep writing down how it served, until you see "Wow! I never thought of it that way!" Every one of those things that you can, in a sense, clear and see as a service-every cleared event adds fuel to your life rather than baggage and burden to your life. In other words, "An attitude of gratitude determines our altitude in life!"
If we go through life and we are held down or held back by these illusions, we make ourselves a victim, instead of seeing our victory. Go back and clear out the illusions of your past. Open yourself to the truth that no matter what you have done or not done, you have served.
Some people say, "Well, that is strange! How can you say all things are good, and serve?" I have been blessed, and I have been working with people for many, many years. I have seen people with just about every kind of trauma, almost everything that occurs in life. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM SERVES IF YOU LOOK DEEPLY ENOUGH!
What most people do is to look superficially. I tell you to look beyond the surface. Look deeply again. Keep asking how every thing that happened in your life served you and how it served others. I assure you there is a blessing in each event you thought a curse. There is an opportunity in every challenge. Give yourself the gift of freedom. Go back in your life and say "How did it serve?" and love yourself.
