More Practice with
Vocational Profiling
|
 |
by Noel Tyl
|
 |
Let's keep on practicing with Vocational Profiling. It is a difficult skill in Astrology, but it is extraordinarily important: for someone young for confident orientation to his or her future; for someone older hoping for corroboration to support a change; for someone searching for an outlet expression of the profession he or she never followed and can't.
For example, a very big-businessman-builder who has been a client of mine for many, many years, called for help in advising a young man he had been helping through college and now into graduate school. Of course, my client was grooming this star performer for a position in his firm.
The question was that my client saw in this young man --wished it to be-- the job profile of "builder" -like himself, and the young man, now entering Graduate School in Business, had changed his sights and was planning to be a "developer", funding large tracts of buildings, communities, shopping centers, etc. The essence here is the difference between a Taurus-Venus-Sun orientation and a Capricorn-Saturn-Pluto orientation, respectively
along those lines.
My work revealed much corroboration for the "developer" channel. My builder-businessman client welcomed the clarification, understood it, and changed his approach to helping the young man. In this way, both became happy with the plans ahead and each would surely profit optimally.
Vocational Profiling is that important. -There is nothing more incessantly demoralizing and stunting of development than to know every single day that you are in the wrong job, that you have been pushed there by one or both parents, underachieved educationally and settled for something "different". How long can that continue? When does one pass the time of possibility for change? --These are strategic decisions and condition adjustments to which the astrologer can bring much input.
Let's sharpen our wits and our technique a bit more in this series of essays for MetaArts on vocational profiling, with the following horoscope:

Remember, we must follow the guidelines we have been studying over the past three months, extending significance of the Midheaven.
1. The MC here is in Scorpio, ruled by Pluto. We start our Midheaven clarification, modification through Pluto.
2. Pluto is peregrine! --This is a powerful statement. It establishes a possible Channel for research, government, famous people.
3. Pluto is disposited by the Moon, which is disposited by Mercury, which in turn is disposited by Venus. Venus in Taurus is the final dispositor of the horoscope and will carry much weight. Its position in the 3rd House in conjunction with Sun and Jupiter is very strong.
4. Mars is also in the 3rd and rules it, and is co-final dispositor. We have established enormous focus on the 3rd House of communications. -We now can say (feel) the communications industry, dealing with power figures, power information.
5. Mars, as ruler of the 3rd is squared by Neptune; this adds glamour, charisma, even entertainment to the communications thrust. Mars is oriental, suggesting "promotions of all kinds", beating the drum.
6. The Moon is in the 8th, focusing much attention on the values of others, bringing others forward. -The Moon is disposited by Mercury, which is disposited by Venus, which brings us back yet again to the 3rd House focus.
7. The large public outreach is reinforced by the Node=Sun/Moon picture, Pluto's sesquiquadrate with the MC, the Uranus square with the MC. The Venus-Jupiter opposition with the MC ties everything together!
STOP
The professional outreach here is definitely through the communications industry, with strong promotional overtones -beating the drum for societal, even government issues; charismatic entertainment (films or television, persuasive radio), involving affiliations with famous people.
That's an orderly presentation of this horoscope for vocational profiling. It belongs to Jack Paar, who was Mr. Late-Night Television for so many years, presenting celebrities and issues to the nation with enormous effect and popularity. [It is interesting to note that his successor, Johnny Carson, also has Mars oriental: the persuader, the promoter.]
Let's look at another horoscope similarly:

Immediately the eye is pulled into the 9th House, and we tell ourselves that we must extend the Midheaven process and hope we get back to the 9th, to explain it, to incorporate it into the vocational profile.
1. The Midheaven is ruled by Mercury; Mercury is rising
very important
and is disposited by Pluto in the 9th House. Pluto is disposited by the Sun; there is an important Sun-Pluto mutual reception.
This is telling us about big-time communications; governmental Channel. Forceful (Mars conjunct Pluto); administratively stern (Saturn square Mercury.
2. Jupiter is the final dispositor of the horoscope and is rising in the Sagittarian Ascendant, and it is peregrine!. Again, we have a strong reference to the 9th House. We can not help but register "lawyer", with governmental thrust.
STOP
There is no doubt that the Law profession is indicated emphatically. -That Neptune=Sun/Moon, with Neptune oriental, besides registration on the personal level in relationships, suggests that "vision" will play an important part in the legal pursuits, perhaps vision about land organization, allotment, the homeland, the nation: an idealistic projection that will invigorate her work (Neptune rules the 4th).
This is an "easy read" if you will, and clearly captures Hillary Clinton's vocational profile!
An intensely information packed Vocational Analysis Booklet guide with full development of the Midheaven Extension Process (some 75 pages, 13,000 words, and 25 examples) is available at noeltyl.com, MENU, BOOKS.
