Vocation Profile: Building Extensions
|
 |
by Noel Tyl
|
 |
Continuing our series of vocational profiling using the new Midheaven Extension Process, we should understand that there can be more than one extension channel of the Midheaven, i.e., the Midheaven can be extended by measurement observations other than the principal extender, the ruling planet.

Here, we see Aquarius on the Midheaven, ruled by Uranus, and -immediately-- we see that Uranus is in its own Sign; it is the final dispositor of the horoscope. This always carries with it a feeling of a "dead end," so to speak. It is very significant of course -this measurement observation tells us the this woman would need very, very much a vocation, a career, that would be unusual, exploring her innovation and creative skills to optimum advantage.
When the ruler of the Midheaven is also the final dispositor of the horoscope, we can look to three considerations to keep the Midheaven extension process going, to get more information about the individual's needs with regard to vocational fulfillment. We look to aspects made with the final dispositor (the ruler of the Midheaven in this case); we look for other co-final dispositors who will have almost equal "say" in the extension process; and we look for aspects directly to the Midheaven.
First: we see that Neptune is opposing Uranus. This contact introduces aesthetics to the mix. Neptune is disposited by the Moon, which is run-away powerful in its peregrine state! In the 5th House, the sociability needs of the lady will be focused in teaching, probably.
So far, we have accumulated the sense of this lady needing to be herself, in highly individualized, creative, even theatrical ways, to educate and please the public.
Second: we see another co-final dispositor, Jupiter in Sagittarius, exactly on the horizon, carrying great strength (at an Angle). This immediately reconfirms the educative thrust of the vocational needs shown here, and introduces the sense of internationalism, echoing the Midheaven ruler's presence in the 9th; with that echoed by the ruler of the 9th, Saturn, being on the Ascendant!
We add "with a huge audience needed, internationally, or doing things with an international flair."
Third: We look to aspects with the Midheaven and we see Node-Midheaven, which emphasizes extended outreach to the public, and we see Jupiter quintile the Midheaven which tells us about creative education talents. We see the Sun in Leo -yet another co-final dispositor(!)-opposed the Midheaven, and adding a tremendous statement of theatricality to the profile requirements. Additionally, the Sun is peregrine: this lady needs to dance to a different drummer. She must be unique and featured that way in her work; she is a solo performer in her work needs. And this is wrapped-up tremendously by Uranus, ruler of the Midheaven, being square to the Ascendant!
We note that Mars is peregrine also and is at the midpoint of Sun/Moon: this lady needs to put her individuality and education theatricality fully behind something, to promote it, to sell it!
Getting Specific
Now, let us imagine talking with this lady of great presence and six-feet height, when she is in her thirties, married to a man serving in the diplomatic corps, living in France. She wants to know about her vocational career proclivities. She lights up with the profile as we have it so far: highly individualistic promotion work in an educational way to a grand public, with international and publishing overtones! But in what field might this be?
The Moon is usually the key for specificity. It is especially so here because it is peregrine, powerfully focusing the key 5th House idea of educating (corroborated by Jupiter in Sagittarius on the horizon, etc.). It rules the 3rd and disposits Neptune, which is oriental, suggesting an idealistic sensitivity needed in the individualistic presentation.
Communications (3rd House) and teaching are partners always. Neptune is here a partner as well to the theatrical sense of Sun in Leo. Neptune is importantly in contact with the Midheaven ruler, Uranus. The Moon focuses all of that as Neptune's dispositor and ruler of the 3rd House. Communications is all.
Cancer and the Moon suggest home, home values --and the powerful idealistic grouping in the 4th reinforces this observation. Cancer and the Moon suggest Women; Nursing (care taking; for males as well as females); Teaching, Coaching, Real Estate (especially in connection with the 4th House and/or Saturn). There are supportive concepts like Cooking, restaurants and diners; the Dairy industry; Waiters
and more.
As soon as the word "cooking" is brought into the consultation, an eruption of delight breaks out: our client reports that she is studying French Cooking in France and is thrilled with her classes and cookbook texts! --What corroboration for her! What a feeling of being on the right track! What a sense of meaning has been brought to her life!
Eventually Julia Child would become one of the most celebrated teaching-chefs in the entire world, making her own the new invention of television (Neptune) and selling millions of books.
**Learn from this case how to patiently proceed step by step into the horoscope, how to assemble short-phrases to describe disclosure gleaned from the Extension Process. Put the phrases together in the frame of common sense and astrological interpretive artistry. You will the lives of others.
