"A song-and-dance man
is what I am basically
I think dancing is a primal urge coming to life at the first moment we need to express joy."
-James Cagney
Years ago I taught dance classes and am fortunate enough to say that my dance team swept national dance competitions on many occasions. It was exciting to see our team toting giant winning trophies, plaques, ribbons and often hundreds of dollars in cash from our hard work, dedication and pure desire for the craft. The smell of sweaty dance belts, leotards and leg warmers come drifting back as I recall those days, so long ago.
When other teachers asked me what my secret to winning was, I told them "My students dance with the feeling of the end result in their minds and in their hearts." Of course it did help that I had lots of snacks available for them too, Thank God for string cheese, apples and Fritos! But honestly, during each rehearsal and each practice session I coached my dancers "as if" they were, in that exact moment on stage at the national competition completing a perfect, brilliant performance. As they stepped off their imaginary stage in each rehearsal they were, in essence stepping off the stage at the finals with an electricity and confidence in their solar plexus that felt so real that many of these students had deja'vue experiences at their regional and national contests.
In rehearsal they smiled brightly as their limber bodies would glide across the floor, filling the room with effortless movement and magnificent extensions. Their bodies, emotions and the music harmonized as one fluid expression. After each number the dancers curtsied with lovely posture as they pretended to make direct eye contact with the judges and with an audience of wildly applauding fans.
I always visualized myself on stage as I danced; fantasizing about the wonderful outcome I wanted to create. I did this exercise both with my students and by myself while choreographing alone in the studio.
Once in awhile I trained a young student who sloppily walked through her movements as she reassured herself and me that she would dance her piece to perfection on the big day. More often than not these same students felt cheated and ripped off by the judges, claiming unfair treatment or ignorance in the scoring system. On an unconscious level, these lazy thinkers and lazy doers were designing destiny by default. They expected some magical miracle that would mysteriously wave their flaws and bad habits away, pushing them into the winner's circle.
Meanwhile the dancers who purely pretended and purely imagined themselves in the winner's circle holding first place trophies, the same performers who "acted as if" each and every dance from the beginning of their rehearsals to the final date of competition said things like, "I just had this feeling that I had won," or, "I felt like I was in a dream and all of the powers-that-be were on my side, cheering me on from the inside out!" And my favorite response was, "My performance was an amazing deju-vue experience that covered me with goose bumps. It was as if I had already danced and won and this was my victory lap!"
What these winners were doing was consciously designing their destiny by projecting their hi-frequency desires into the future. From their NOW experiences they sent the vibrations of winning forward to a designated time space reality. These hi-frequency feelings (attitudes and emotions) shoot forth in laser speed creating a gorgeous cocoon of consciousness. This cocoon becomes a vortex of thought and energy, emotion and consciousness - hence, a cocoon of consciousness that they could literally walk into and live inside of at that moment! Better stated, every thought and every feeling that we have ever experienced is invisibly projected and propelled forth NOW and these feelings are hanging in midair for us to walk into every second of our future. We are all in one of two types of cocoons.
1-Hi-Frequency cocoons or
2-Lo-Frequency cocoons.
Hi-Frequency consciousness / prosperity thoughts + feeling good = rich reality!
Lo-Frequency consciousness / poverty thoughts + feeling bad = poor reality!
If your reality is not as prosperous as you would like, chances are good that you are creating your reality with lo-frequency thoughts. If we think lo-frequency thoughts and feel lo-frequency emotions then we attract poverty induced realities that feel bad. The longer we choose to feel bad the more lo-frequency, feel bad, poverty realities we will continue to live. Here's the thing, you may not even notice that you are thinking and feeling these lo-frequency things. Being pessimistic may be such a habit for you, that you don't hear the negativity. If you drink or use drugs to escape uncomfortable parts of your life, then you may be intensifying the negativity instead of avoiding it.
Fear Not!
Remember this: every one-hundredth of every second we are attracting our good or we are attracting our bad. It's always our choice.
In dance class I would choreograph the routine in my head first, feeling my way through the music and movement, often with my eyes closed. Second I jotted the steps and intricate patterns on paper. Third I showed the new routine to my dance team. Lastly they would duplicate the steps, adding their electric excitement to the new dance thus making it a stronger manifestation each and every time they danced it with their inspired actions. Each time they rehearsed the same thoughts and same dance patterns the more perfect the routine became and the better the outcome.
We do the same in our everyday lives. Each time we repeat a habit of thought we strengthen and breathe more power into that thought. If our thoughts feel good, such as, "I love to win and I love to dance," those affirmations strengthen our beliefs with soul electricity and eventually manifest our beliefs into physical reality. Excuse me, can you say "Thanks for the first place trophy!" Oh yeah, baby!
The opposite is also true. When we repeat lo-frequency habits of thought we strengthen that reality too. How many times have we said things like, "I don't have enough time in my day to accomplish the things I want," before we realize it, we feel more rushed than ever.
I think that dance class is a great metaphor for life. Whatever you put into your dance rehearsal, you will get back. If you put hi-frequency feelings and clear desires into your dance you will receive that back. And if you put more negative emotion and poor-me mentality into your daily rehearsals you will perform that belief each day on the stage of your life.
Unlimited Power
When we consciously create a distinct plan with passion behind it we have unlimited power to design our lives. We can use as much of the power as we wish and there will always be more. Further, it can be contagious. When others see your optimistic cheerful, boundless energy in a given area they will want to know what you have just been eating, or drinking or doing! Like attracts like and surrounding yourself with other empowered thinkers will nurture your hi-frequency cocoon until you burst through any barriers and thrive in life's winner's circle.
Today I use those past experiences as a dance teacher in my daily life. For example, when I wake up on Sunday morning, after my bagel and coffee that is, I create my passionate plan of electric action for the week. I imagine my desired plan first, feel it second and write it out last. Each time I review and rehearse my plan the more solid and better it becomes.
Question: Are you dancing through life in the winner's circle or are you treating your life like just another sloppy dress rehearsal, blaming others and making them responsible for your happiness, or lack there of?
