Authentic Appreciation
is the Universe’s Red Carpet

by Eddie Conner
A few months ago I wrote about Appreciation Amnesia®. Appreciation Amnesia® is possibly one of the greatest flaws we posses in designing our reality.

Briefly, when we appreciate something our emotional frequency begins to raise and pulsate bigger. This “bigger” frequency allows us to be open and receptive to creating what we do want.

Conversely, when we have Appreciation Amnesia® we often cut ourselves off from the stream of perfect energy that creates worlds. This habit of not feeling gratitude can cause us to be observers and reactors to what is happening around us. And when we are merely observing the reality around us, we continue to create more of the exact same reality. It’s like being trapped in a hamster wheel and not being able to get out of that drab, boring cycle of the same-old, same-old, day in and day out blues.

I must admit, occasionally I forget to appreciate my life and my surroundings the way that I should. And after having amnesia for sometime I eventually regain my senses and dive back into the refreshing waters of gratitude.

Sail Into Your Soul II – A Journey Into Bliss

Recently I co-facilitated my fourth world tour, this time it was to the Mexican Rivera with Rev. Mark Vierra and Karen Drucker. Together we jumped on the deluxe cruise ship, Carnival Pride and conducted our Sail Into Your Soul II, conference on the sea. It was amazing!

We had a fabulous group of 45 people each of whom loved to laugh, play, learn, and grow spiritually while eating decadent foods and having great fun. As a co-facilitator I was experiencing wonderful bliss with our group. Karen said it best with, “Isn’t it amazing that we had a simple intention to do this cruise, and from that intention people from all over the country dropped what they were doing to be a part of our desire to be of service?” Of course the midnight buffets and endless desserts helped too! Each day I had to take a nap between feedings just to keep my strength up.

Our first port was Puerto Vallarta. This was the first location where I had decided to consciously focus on pure appreciation everywhere I went. With that in mind, Rev. Mark, Karen and myself; joined two other friends and together the five of us walked the city looking for a specific restaurant for a relaxing dinner.

There was a brilliant raw beauty everywhere I looked. Though it was a weeknight, it felt like a weekend, bringing with it a deep relaxed spirit. We strolled through town breathing in the sites, artistic sculptures, the town square and beautiful, bright colors all around us. The sun was sitting over the pacific when we ask the locals where our restaurant was located.

We walked along the cobblestone streets lined with wrought iron street lamps as the ocean steadily lapped the small boulders along the main thoroughfare.

Activating the Red Carpet of Authentic Appreciation

It was at this point that I decided to extend my initial intention of quietly appreciating my surroundings by playing The Soul Game®. The Soul Game® is when I ask the Universe to allow me to see and hear the world around me through the eyes of my soul. It’s miraculous because you honestly do see colors that are more vibrant, people more radiant and other senses become multidimensional and other worldly too. Ask yourself: “How would my soul see and hear this experience?” and then sit back and allow your nonphysical attributes pour through you.

The Manifestation

The first manifestation that came from my intention was a gentleman dressed in all white. When we passed him on the streets he sensed we were lost and he was gracious enough to ask us if he could help us with directions. We told him what restaurant we were looking for and he gave us perfect directions, while pleasantly adding, “Next year when you visit Puerto Vallarta, please come to my restaurant, The Blue Shrimp.” His brilliant smile left a lasting impression with us as he disappeared into the crowd.

Upon arriving to our initial destination we all decided to skip it and head down to The Blue Shrimp. The moment we arrived to The Blue Shrimp, Martine, the same gentleman that gave us directions earlier greeted us in the doorway with a sincere “Long time no see! Thank you for choosing my place.” His smile was contagious and his energy powerful as he shared the menu with us and escorted us to one of the most excellent tables in the house and introduced us to Alonzo, one of his best waiters.

Martine asked Alonzo to bring us a complimentary appetizer “on the house” with a gratis round of Blue Margaritas. Alonzo was delightful as he smiled, encouraging us to have fun because, “You are on vacation. Enjoy yourselves my friends!”

Looking around Martine’s restaurant it’s easy to appreciate its unique attributes because no two tables and booths were the same. It was friendly, inviting and tremendously artistic. It was a great practice seeing something new, with my appreciative, soulful contact lens on. Martine had created an atmosphere that gave you the illusion that you were dining inside an invigorating painting. Even the bathrooms were one-of-a-kind art. Believe me when I say that standing in the men’s room at a urinal while a mermaid watched me from over head made this BUT Doctor more than a little bit shy, if you know what I mean. I nick-named the curious mermaid Urial, I thought it sounded like a cross between a nautical theme and public restroom. I didn’t get to see inside the ladies room BUT the outside of the ladies room was a giant conch shell that Rev. Mark, Karen and myself could not resist having our pictures taken in.

Martine watched over us and treated us with great care, the whole time smiling and laughing with us. He returned to our table again and again with new gifts, pearls of wisdom, another free round of drinks and fabulous Blue Shrimp coffee mugs for everyone in our small group. My mug is literally sitting next to my computer as I write this column – thanks Martine.

After completing our decadent desserts, Martine walked us to the front and hailed our cab to insure a safe trip back to our cruise ship, the Carnival Pride.

Hind Sight is 20/20

The next morning I was journaling about all of the things that I was grateful for the day before. While writing down an enormous list of items I was grateful for, it quickly dawned on me that my list was longer than an average day of gratitude journaling. Then I remembered my initial intention to appreciate while employing The Soul Game! Upon having this realization “Gosh, I can be a little slow,” it struck me that in the exact moment I had implemented a clear plan of intention, laced with the appreciation of choosing to feel good, the Universe literally rolled out a giant red carpet for our group. It felt as if my soul intention had both sparked and ignited the souls of others, which in turn put our group in a protective cocoon of well-being during our remarkable escapade into the city the previous evening.

Choosing Not to Choose is a Choice

Choice is a miraculous thing is it not? I could have chosen to get upset that we couldn’t find the first location we were looking for in Puerto Vallarta. Instead I choose to see and hear the beauty around me. I could have gotten nervous and fearful that we were a long distance from our ship and instead I choose to create an adventure with four other friends as we laughed our way into enlightenment across the Mexican Rivera!

Here’s an interesting question to ponder. What’s worse than Montezuma’s revenge? The answer is Appreciation Amnesia™. Why? Because the revenge can come and go within 24 hours and some people can live a life time without authentic, hi-frequency appreciation and as hard as that is to believe – it’s true.

The next time that you and your friends are in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico you must visit The Blue Shrimp Restaurant. The food is fabulous, the service is superb and Martine is a tremendous host and generous gentleman too! Remember to ask for Alonzo as your server – remarkable. Their email is, reserve@theblueshrimp.com.mx and please tell them that Eddie Conner, The BUT Doctor sent you!
