Kabbalah Revealed
by Rav Michael Laitman, PhD.

Lesson 5:
Moving on to a Better Life

* The action of the upper force on us
* The wisdom of Kabbalah is intended for everyone
* We take this power in our own hands
* Elevating above matter
* Life was given to us only in order to achieve balance

Question: We are not scientists and we have not arrived to the Kabbalah out of knowledge or science…

So you are saying this: Scientists are arriving to the wisdom of Kabbalah out of research, and not out of suffering, it is just curiosity. They wanted to study the world, and suddenly they are realizing that the game they are playing is not real, so they want to be in a more real game, and then because there is no other choice they arrive to the wisdom of Kabbalah. This is what really happens to them, meaning that they don’t necessarily feel any sufferings, but yet it is possible to approach them and hand them this candy. On the other hand there are many people in the world that are suffering and asking questions: What is the purpose of my life? Why am I suffering? What do I live for? Why does this world exist? A thousand and one questions that even the most ordinary people have asked. These questions lead us to the wisdom of Kabbalah. This wisdom is not intended for scientists so that they will be able to research the world further. Even when they will research further they will still have to go through a transformation, because in order to change the world it is necessary to transform oneself according to the upper force and then direct it. So the wisdom of Kabbalah is intended for everyone, but I can not reach everyone, I can not just tell someone – you are suffering, so come and study and by studying you will know how to get along in this world. He wouldn’t understand it.

So the question is how would the world in its entirety move into a better life? Who will use the wisdom of Kabbalah to bestow upon the upper power so that it will bestow benevolence back on us? Because all that we feel here is the action of the upper force, which is here, existing in some form. If we would know how to bestow upon it we will receive a good response in return and that is what we need. Scientists want to know it, to study it, for them it is curiosity, for us it is simply our life. We are not living well, we don’t know what will happen tomorrow, we must take this power into our own hands, but in a manner that will benefit us. In the mean time, all that we take into our own hands comes out worse. So whether we want to or not we will have to learn. What does it mean to learn? To learn how to bestow benevolence we will have to go through a transformation. Humanity will realize that only equality with the upper power will bring with it some relaxation and security, some change for the better.

How will it happen? We see that with every year that passes, more people begin to understand this from the inside, because our Reshimot, our spiritual genes, are constantly growing and are bringing us this understanding, this conformity – with no other choice, out of sufferings. We will have to acknowledge it. I have spoken about the wisdom of Kabbalah as if it is a pure science, unrelated to the common person, but this is not true, the common person will just accept it in a different way. When I address a common person I say it this way: You are perceiving reality in the wrong way. Why? Because you are not in balance with this reality. If my body or even one of its cells would be in a hostile environment, for example a temperature of over 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit), or -50 (-58 degrees Fahrenheit), or at a different atmospheric pressure than what I am adapted to, then I would be suffering and wouldn’t be able to live. . When do I feel good, comfortable? When I am in balance and when what is inside is completely balanced with what is outside, at all levels, in all of the parameters. This is what we need to do with what is occurring outside of us. If each and every person will learn what is happening outside of him or her in order to attain balance with it, to feel comfortable, it wouldn’t just be for the seventy years that the person lives in this world but for eternity. We are discussing a life which is eternal, beyond incarnations. Once one exits the body one begins to feel everything in a different way, beyond time, one enters a body and then exits it, but feels this process in an eternal way. The Kabbalists explain that we must get to know the outer reality in order to equalize with it, to be in a state of balance with it. There is no science which is more practical than the wisdom of Kabbalah and anyone who will not understand it will suffer. Just like any other situation, if one would run away to the desert and live there on his own, or enter some ice cold polar conditions, or very intense heat, whatever, will he feel good? A person must know where it is good and comfortable to be. The person must build a good environment for him or herself. This is the wisdom of Kabbalah – how to receive reality wisely, in the best possible way. This is imperative for everyone. What does it mean ‘imperative’? Sufferings will force us to get there.

Question: I am a new student, and it seems to me that whether Nobel Prize winners would accept this or not would not change my perception. I am a very simple person, not very wise.

Science is simply the subject of this lecture, which is why I chose this approach.

Question: I am not convinced. Even if someone who won a Nobel Prize will come, or a hundred people like him, it will not change my views. I do not understand much, but if we will be in balance with the general law then we would actually be in equality of form, like a surfer, who enjoys the waves but doesn’t fall into them. What then is the general law?

The general law is called “the law of bestowal”.

Question: And what does the law state?

The rest of it has to be learned – how to elevate above matter. As long as you are within the ego, within your matter, you will always suffer; you will always feel pains unless you disconnect yourself from the body, from the senses, by taking drugs. This is what people do today. But to really exit from the body, it is only possible by acquiring the law.

Question: Don’t you feel suffering? You know the law, so right now, today, are you still suffering or not? I want to know.

Why do you ask? To be jealous? Ok, yes.

This method helps a person to reach the goal and experience less suffering. Why do we come here and give lectures and disseminate the wisdom of Kabbalah, wanting to let everyone know about it? We could sit quietly, and just wait for whoever finds us to join. Why are we going out and advertising this? Because when it happens naturally, people arrive to the wisdom of Kabbalah through immense sufferings, after many incarnations of torments that they don’t even remember or know about. The person just can’t keep living with this question: what do I live for? We want to save the person from going through the pain. It is not just a question of what am I living for, it is concerning killings and pogroms and what not. And so in order to prevent this, we come in to show that it is not beneficial to wait, come to us before the sufferings will come to you.

Question: Are you already beyond suffering?

Yes. What you are asking is this: When you come to me, how do I help you advance further? We definitely have a method. It is not ours, but it is a method that has been developed by Kabbalists during many years. It is not a simple path at all. It is a study of how one can exit oneself onto the outer world. It is not simple learning; it takes quite a few years for someone to attain it. But once attained, the person’s life changes, his perspective changes, he is under a different kind of guidance, the same upper power acts on the person in an entirely different way. This is the reason why we are addressing the nation now, starting with the nation of Israel. We are doing it in an indirect way because it is not possible to do it directly, so we reach people through scientists in Russia and America, we have to go around the obstacles. We should go straight to the nation, but no one would listen this way. We are doing this because much unwanted suffering may be prevented, not for those we live with now but for those for whom it is possible. I hope we will prevent it, which is why we are making noise; otherwise we would have been involved only with ourselves and let whoever wants to study come to us.

Question: how do you classify our health, or illnesses?

All illnesses, health, family related issues, children, whatever you tell me, anything that you feel as bad or evil, is only there to make you return to the correct relation with reality, with life. Life was given to us so that we will reach homeostasis.

Question: But you say that there is no reality…

What does it mean that there is no reality? What we are grasping inside ourselves, what I feel now, that is reality. But the question is whether the true reality is dependent on me or not. Is it in a completely objective independent form or is it just a projection of my properties? It turns out that it is only a projection of my properties, that I can change reality with the power of thoughts. There are several issues here. If you would like we could make the next lecture about the power of thoughts. How do we activate reality? With the power of thoughts.

Kabbalist Rav Michael Laitman, PhD.,
Kabbalist, Rabbi, & Author

World leading Kabbalist, Rav Michael Laitman, PhD has an MS in Bio Cybernetics and a PhD in Philosophy and Ontology.

Rav Laitman is the author of 25 internationally selling books on Kabbalah; his books have been translated into nine languages.

His lessons are broadcast live throughout the Internet and cable TV to tens of thousands of students the world over. In recent years he has become a sought-after lecturer in academic and learning circles in the US and Europe

His search for the meaning of life led him to the teachings of Kabbalah in the 1970’s. At first he studied Kabbalah with various teachers in Jerusalem and other parts of Israel. In 1979 he discovered his true teacher, Kabbalist Rav Baruch Shalom Halevi Ashlag (1907-1991).

From the time he met Rav Baruch Ashlag (known as the Rabash), he was never apart from him and spent most of his time in his presence, as his disciple and personal assistant. Up until his death, Rabash passed on to Rav Laitman the wisdom he had acquired from his father, Kabbalist Rav Yehuda Ashlag, known as Baal HaSulam for his Sulam commentary on The zohar (The Book of Radiance).

Rav Dr. Laitman held a successful public meeting in San-Francisco in March 2005 with leading American scientists, participants of the blockbuster hit "What the Bleep Do We Know?" Here are some of the impressions of the scientists after meeting Dr. Laitman:

Fred Alan Wolf, PhD. author of eleven books, among them The Yoga of Time Travel, Matter into Feeling: a new Alchemy of Science and Spirit, and Mind into Matter: "I admire your knowledge. I would love to sit at your feet and study for a long time."

Jeffery Satinover, MD (Psychiatry), MS (Physics) – Author of seven books including The Quantum Brain & Cracking the Bible Code: "The emergence of Kabbalah from its concealment in a genuine form is historically significant and is truly remarkable."

Rav Laitman is the founder and president of the Bnei Baruch Association – Kabbalah Education & Research Institute. Bnei Baruch is an Israeli based non-profit organization that is dedicated to spreading the wisdom of Kabbalah to all of humanity.

Bnei Baruch conducts daily Kabbalah lessons, broadcasted live on the Internet and available for free.

In 1996 Bnei Baruch created, what is now the largest and most popular Internet site on the subject of Kabbalah--www.kabbalah.info. This website provides unlimited access to Kabbalistic texts and media in over twenty languages, and hosts over a million readers every month.
