The Water Family:
Maintaining Life Flow
|
 |
by Noel Tyl
|

|
There have been all sorts of estimates about our being comprised overwhelmingly of water: 60%, 66%, more? The point is that our bodies are predominantly liquid in structure.
Astrologically, this Element family oversees all the liquids of the body and the processes of digestion, the procreative process and the organs involved.
Cancer rulerships include the stomach and the breasts. --We can appreciate that an astrological signature of nervousness that is focused in Cancer Mercury in Cancer squared by Uranus, for examplecan implicate a “nervous stomach.”
Scorpio rulerships include the reproductive organs of both men and women (including most importantly the prostate gland and testicles in the male; the ovaries, cervix, and uterus in the female; the anus, colon, alimentary canal; venereal disease; the considerations and enactment of abortion; and psychoanalysis/psychotherapy). Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio, has a primal sense about it symbolically, and it figures ever so prominently in horoscopes with regard to, at the time of critical illness.
Mars introduces the idea of inflammation; and, as well, the function of surgical intrusion.
The Piscean rulerships include most importantly the blood, the lymphatic system, and curiously but reliablythe feet; the concerns of alcoholism, narcotics, and hallucinating; the circumstances of evasive diagnosis, dream trauma, anesthesia.

Developmentally, Audrey Hepburn’s horoscope suggests a lot of unfinished business in the early home life (the Northern Hemisphere orientation), about which she was most defensive (the Northeast quadrant). Additionally, natal Neptune was opposed her Ascendant strongly, suggesting a threat to the health center, to difficulties in identity development.
This was the case in Audrey Hepburn’s life: a family wracked by her father’s espousal of Hitler and the Nazi movement, the social shame of it all, the disintegration of the family (note the Saturn retrograde phenomenology). She was a lonely, frail little girl for the longest time, playing alone with imaginative playmates, afraid to smile because of extremely bad teeth (Saturn rulership; see next month’s column).
There is a colossal tension aspect within the horoscope that dominates: Saturn-rx quindecile Pluto, with Saturn ruling her 12th House of critical illness. This suggests strongly in astrological terms that her body could eventually break down Plutonically. Pluto concerns are challenged harshly by Saturn-rx realities. Audrey Hepburn died of colon cancer in January 1993.
[
The General’s horoscope suggests much inner anger and turmoil, converted to external drive and aggression (the Mars-Pluto conjunction in the 12th opposed the get-things-done Moon in Capricorn). It is important to see that this Moon (in the workaholic position in the 6th House) rules the 12th House of critical illness, which holds the powerful accentuation of Mars-Pluto.
Viewing this from a danger-to-health perspective astrologically, one would see the potential of prostate problems (Mars inflammation of Pluto). When transiting Pluto came to 28 Scorpio, exactly squaring the General’s natal Sun, ruler of his health-center Ascendant; when simultaneously transiting Uranus and Neptune came to conjunction with his natal Moon, ruler of his 12th House, Schwarzkopf was diagnosed with cancer of the Prostate (March 1994).

Find the key pressure point. You see it there in the 2nd House; the conjunction of Mars and Saturn, both retrograde, in Cancer. Note that the conjunction is opposed Venus, ruler of the 12th House, a key House (along with the Ascendant) in our awareness of the potential for critical illness in astrological terms. The Mars-Saturn conjunction is in Cancer, the Sign ruling the breasts.
When SA Mars-Saturn came to exact square with the Ascendant from 10 Virgo, SA Neptune was exactly square the natal Moon from 28 Scorpio. This lady was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Extra Learning Tip: in Astrology, the Sun and the Moon rule the eyes, regardless of Element Family. Even if natally the Sun and the Moon are free of keen developmental tension, Arcs and transits to the Sun and/or Moon, especially after the age of 40, can correspond to eye problems in reality, in astrological terms.
In this horoscope, we can expect eye problems, eye disease, from birth. Galucoma is inherited, and this lady’s mother had glaucoma severely. At age 63, the daughter developed glaucoma and has had eye surgery. The alert, of course, is clearly the natal Saturn-rx opposition with the Sun and tension aspects from Uranus and Pluto to the Moon; the Pluto opposition analytically introduces the maternal influence strongly, and surely is part of the inheritance picture.
Additionally, this daughter has had a polyp removed from her colon; see Mars conjunct Pluto, especially sensitized as ruler of the Ascendant and the 12th and receiving the square from Uranus.
She has had kidney problems (Mars-Pluto square to Jupiter in Libra, with Venus receiving the square from Uranus) to the point that an organ donor was standing by; she has had severe gynecological crisis with an ectopic pregnancy (when the fertilized egg implants itself anywhere other than the lining of the uterus, usually in the fallopian tube (Libra)). This crisis occurred when transiting Neptune was tightly square Pluto from Libra, when transiting Uranus was conjunct Pluto, and transiting Saturn was square Venus!
**So we see how the simple correlations between astrological symbology and the systems and parts of the human being’s make-up are dynamically eloquent for the potential of disease focus; they are particularly vulnerable to exacerbation through the confluence of transits and Arcs to key points and positions. The ruler-referent to the twelfth House , the Ascendant, and the Sun itself are key focal points.
--Next month: the Earth Family of symbolisms.
