ShapeShifting Beauty:
Shamanic Healing for Beauty Obsessions
A Women's Retreat With Dr. Eve Bruce and Robin Rice
In Ocean City, Maryland, January 20-22, 2006
There is nothing like a deserted winter beach to turn a woman inward, toward her deepest nature. In this workshop, a small group of women will gather with the assistance of the Winter Ocean Mother, the contrasting warmth of the fire, and the support of each other to look at one of our deepest personal and communal illnessesthe perception that a woman must look good to be loveable.
More women than not are preoccupied with their physical bodies and perceived lack of beauty. Even smart, talented, accomplished and loving women can find themselves swimming in a sea of unworthiness due to the perception that they are not lovely. In fact, many women that actually do fit the standard definition of beauty in our culture are the most plagued, having found and exaggerated "flaws" that completely distort their self-perception.
For some women, this negative thought process lurks in the background, acting as a gatekeeper that prevents a strong self-esteem and a truly joyful life. For others, it is a crippling obsession that colors virtually everything they experience of themselves and their world. Whatever level you find yourself at, this workshop if for you.
In this workshop, we will employ shamanic tools that bypass the critical mind and thus facilitate deep healing. Each participant will also be offered a direct shamanic healing experience with Robin Rice and Dr. Bruce. As an adjunct to professional mental health care (not a replacement for those already receiving care), our intention is to create a profound healing shift in only one weekend.
This workshop is held in two beautiful oceanfront condos. Rates for the weekend are from $359 (for shared rooms) to $499 (for King-With-Oversized Bath) private rooms and includes accommodations, workshop and all ceremonies and private healings. Each participant also helps purchase and prepare one meal. For more information and a registration form, email: themetaarts@BeWhoYouAre.com.

Robin Rice Releases Latest Novel
Award winning author Robin Rice is releasing her latest novel, Venus for a Day, free on the internet. The novel chronicles the journey of Sydney Wellington, a former business exec living on a boat, who prays to "any God or Goddess listening that today be somehow different than yesterday, and the day before that." To her surprise, the Goddess of Love and Beauty shows up stark naked and ready to prepare her to seduce the Adonis living five boats down.
Much as in Rice's last novel, A Hundred Ways to Sunday (available in Spanish and German) the protagonist journeys towards self-realization is not an easy one. “For Sydney, the task is to uncover her feminine power,” says Rice. “This is a topic women really resonate with. Her focus on her 'thunder thighs' and other physical imperfections, but her real problem goes much deeper. What Venus teaches, by way of hellish tests and trials, is the path to rediscovering authentic passion."
Sydney’s story is really every woman’s story. “We all know a sister, friend or coworker who we see as beautiful and powerful, but that is not what she sees when she looks in the mirror. Reading Venus, which is a healing in and of itself, can change that, even if she only shows up on your bedside table."
Rice's marketing approach is simpleget her books out to as many people as possible by offering the printable Adobe file for free on the web. Rice is taking her cues from Gandhi, who admonished that we all be the change we wish to see in the world.
"To me, this means thinking way outside the current consumer marketing box, which the novel itself suggests the world is in need of,” says Rice. "Although most of us in the U.S. can easily afford a $18.95 sticker price for a printed book, many people around the world are not as fortunate. This model allows a readers to buy a printed copy if they decide they want one, or to make an optional donation if the novel touches them.”
Venus For a Day may be the ultimate girlfriend gift. For those looking for an inexpensive way to appreciate a friend and set them on the path to finding love, the free version is as easy to pass on as sending an email with a link in it.
Rice, a contemporary Shaman, lectures worldwide and has been published since 1984. She lives in Annapolis, MD. Venus For A Day and A Hundred Ways To Sunday can both be found free at http://www.bewhoyouare.com/.

•The Path of Kabbalah
“Thou shalt not make unto thee a graven image, nor any manner of likeness” (Exodus 20:3). This commandment from the Bible is the basis of the Kabbalistic wisdom, for Kabbalists know that the only true reality is that of His Essence, the Upper Force. When we accept this concept, we can become truly open to the prospect of freedom for every person, for every nation, and for the entire world. While the structure of reality and how we perceive it are at the surface of this book, it is the underlying story of the human soul that truly captivates us: this is about you and me, and all of us. It is about the way we were, the way we are, and the way we will be.
