MoonWatching with Dana Gerhardt and Friends

by Dana Gerhardt
Intuitive Message
By Julia Bond

As we near the summer solstice the full moon of Cancer/Capricorn awakens us to the fullness of summer. It prepares us for the journey of the next six months as the year’s purpose ripens and we begin to know and give back the bounty from the seeds we planted at the winter solstice. The candle we lit in the darkness of winter is now a flame, a light burning brightly showing us the relationship we have to the earth, a maturing of our yearly purpose. Here, in the light of this full moon, we are called to stand in relation to the physical world of which we are made and the world we have created. We are flesh and bone, human beings who live in a body made up of the elements of the earth. We are physical, personal and individual but we are also tribal, familial and cultural. Let us remember she who is our mother, on whom we stand, from whom we derive our sustenance and who holds us always in her beauty, our great Mother. Let us also remember that we are her creative children who have given birth to our society in which we find our meaning and live out our purpose. In opening to Mother Earth and Father Sky we find that we are at home, now we can know who we are and why we are here.

Cancer and Capricorn contain the ancient teachings of the matriarchy. At this full moon it is time to listen to the mother wisdom that calls us to fulfill our personal destiny as we are birthed in Cancer. We are born to fulfill our own purpose – to learn, to grow, to become our full potential. We are divine children infused with divine intent, here to develop our special gift. Yet in that very recognition of our humanness is the knowledge that we will die, that our existence is short in the larger scheme of life. Thus the father wisdom calls us to remember that we are also born because the world has a purpose for us – she needs us to fulfill her intent, her growth and her sacred mission. The world needs us to develop the awareness required to fulfill the purpose that is unique to us. This is the healing we took birth for and this is the healing that the world cries out for us to hear and answer.

It is through the archetypes of Cancer/Capricorn that we find our grounding, our stability and our true sense of home. We are all born of the earth, we all emerge from the womb of woman in the deep mysteries of creation. Thus we are all at home in Cancer, the sign of mother, birth and the gateway to all consciousness. But we do not remain infants suckling at the breast of our mothers, we grow up and we seek a purpose. As we mature the Capricorn future beckons us to the work of our maturity. In the outer world we find our home away from home. When we can feel at home in ourselves, our development, our personal lives and at home in who we are in the world and the contribution we are making, then we are standing on firm ground. Being at home in ourselves is to be fully open to feeling so we can create a caring personal life. To be at home in the world is to be fully open to meaning so we can create a work that is purposeful and nurtures others.

As we take the time to look up at the full moon, let us also take the time to look into our own lives and see if we are at home in the life we have created
