Activation-Triggers of
Natal Predispositions
--The Bold and the Subtle

by Noel Tyl

[Please study the preceding articles in order to benefit most from the exercise presented here, which is at a senior skill level.]

We know that focal points of developmental tension in the birth horoscope (planets in hard aspect with each other) will suggest somatic and systemic weak points –points of vulnerability—within life development, in league with the aging process, or, indeed, in response to bacterial invasion, etc.

We know that critical concerns for health breakdown are almost always signaled by strong Solar Arc and Transit activity to the ruler of the 12th House (extremely important), the Ascendant (itself or its ruler; the Health Center), and the Sun (the life energy source). The triggers are represented (in order of importance, through my research and study) by Pluto, Saturn, Neptune, Mars, Uranus.

[Please insert here a double-ringed Solar Arc format horoscope, with the Midheaven straight up and down, the Ascendant horizontal: Female August 22, 1934 at 1:04 PM CET in Berlin Germany … Asc 21 Scorpio 35. –Solar Arc ring drawn for October 1, 2005]

Let’s get familiar with this lady’s horoscope in terms of natal vulnerabilities, and get the feel of potential breakdown within life’s accumulated developmental deficit, tensions absorbed by the body and its systems in the aging process.

The major point of tension is the Sun-Mercury conjunction in Leo opposed by Saturn. This suggests a congenital anomaly in the heart and/or heart problems in life, and also concerns Mercurial, i.e., the lungs especially.

A second point of tension is the Mars-Pluto conjunction in Cancer, suggesting a weakness in the stomach, an ulcer perhaps; AND, with Pluto ruling the critical illness 12th, a reference to gynecological concerns and/or the colon.

This lady indeed developed heart concerns and a colon-cancer situation. [Both ran in her family.] Additionally: a lifelong struggle with halitosis.

Now, note that SA Neptune is at 21 Scorpio 24 and is approaching exact conjunction with the Ascendant. This is a health-threatening measurement concern for a lady 71 years old –even though she is sturdy, athletic, and stalwart of temperament (Sun in Leo and Moon in Capricorn, with the Scorpio Ascendant). SA Neptune=Asc can signify debilitation of the health profile, a suppression of the immune system, and threaten some kind of wipe-out of self, rally at any age. Serious indeed.

This potential debilitation is a signal to the astrologer for very careful inspection of the horoscope, including subtle measurements as well.

In April and again in September 2005, tr Uranus was at 9 Pisces.

The position of 9 Pisces is quindecile to natal Mercury at 24 Leo within the major “heart weakness” opposition aspect with Saturn.

**The quindecile as you surely know by now is the 1650 aspect. It is unceasingly intense. The relationship of this aspect to another planet ‘looks like an opposition’ but it isn’t: you test for the quindecile by simply adding or subtracting 15 degrees to get an opposition. That tells you that the transit (in this case) is indeed 165 degrees away (180-15=165), i.e., a quindecile: 24 Leo plus 15 degrees is 39 Leo or 9 Virgo, the point opposite the position of tr Uranus! Therefore, tr Uranus is quindecile (intense attack, if you will) on the Mercury within a natal weakness structure, while the health system is highly vulnerable (through the Neptune=Ascendant Arc).

The lady has been diagnosed (the diagnosis was very difficult to come by, Neptune) as having a rare lung disease. The prognosis for cure is extremely protracted. She is forced to take a regimen of antibiotics for “perhaps years.”

The diagnosis took place early in October 2005, but the condition surely began earlier, perhaps in April 2005 with the first “hit” of tr Uranus to the Mercury. The condition could be expected to abate perhaps in September 2006, when tr Uranus crosses the fourth cusp, reinforcing another dimension of angularity.

The lady had a history of lung anxieties, scores of lung X-rays to track down different concerns throughout earlier life. This fulfilled the natal promise of Saturn opposed Sun-Mercury.

[Please insert this chart: Female, July 17, 1959 at 2:54 AM PDT in San Diego, CA Asc 12 Gemini 34. –Please indicate only”Female”, with no birth data.]

Look at the powerful tension group of planets in the late 3rd and early 4th House. This suggests metabolic difficulty with nourishment intake (Virgo). This is intensified by the fact that Venus rules the 12th and its dispositor Mercury is conjoined with Uranus, and Mercury rules the Ascendant. We see much potential developmental deficit focused on Virgo.

The lady has had a lifelong difficulty with nutritional intake beginning with when she was anorexic, when tr Neptune squared the natal Pluto-Venus conjunction, which time coincided with the father leaving the family (note Saturn-rx phenomenology).

The Mercury factor also refers to the lungs, the upper respiratory tract. The lady had juvenile asthma.

It is clear that body and system breakdown increases in probability with age and with trauma. There is much, much evidence from high-authority sources over the past fifty years that links disease occurrence with preceding emotional trauma. Most often, we see a two-year response time-lag from trauma to disease. –Superb astrologer, gifted in medical astrology particularly, Lauren Delsack has done much research into this phenomenon. The astrological timing evidence is emphatic.
