Healing and Intention,
Part One

by Ann Marie Judge
For all my role playing friends out there, you'll understand this phrase. And for the rest of you that actually have a life—and I can only say this because I am a shameless role player myself—I will explain. When you make any kind of roll—aka, when you roll the dice to determine a particular action, such as the effectiveness of a spell cast—there are a number of outcomes the dice can give you. In short, a critical success is when you succeed to the degree that your action actually compounds and becomes better than was generally possible, such as the spell you cast on one person to disarm them actually had so much power that it disarmed the rest of their group, too.

And as you may guess, when you critically fail a roll, something worse than is generally possible occurs. For example, if you tried to cast that same disarming spell on the group you were fighting and you critically failed, it'd likely backfire and disarm your own group.

Thus said, my point is clear: You cannot critically fail a healing. Here's why.

Healing is a work of intention; when you intend to heal someone, energy goes out to fulfill that intention. Whether or not you know the bone and muscle structure of their left femur or not, if you know their leg hurts and you send out the intention that their leg heals, the energy will go to work right where it's needed.

People often make healing out to be such a difficult task. Many of the common beliefs are that you have to be in a calm and peaceful place to heal, that you have to understand the exact ailment of the person for the energies to find their mark, that they have to either be in the room or a photo of them must be present, or that you even have to know what they look like or have met them for the healing to be effective.

None of these are actually true. Though, there is some validity for it, but it is for a totally different reason.

When a person choses to do a healing, as I have said, it is all intention work, intention “magic.” Thus understood, intention is a very personal and heartfelt activity. Because of this, it is different from person to person. For example, when I intend to heal someone, I have a particular prayer-like incantation that I recite a variation thereof. I also often do something I call “energy spinning” where I envision the person's energies all spinning around their body. This way, if there's a kink in the energy, I can see it right away because it's either not spinning around that area at all, it's in the wrong direction, or it's very weak. And yes, I prefer to do this when I can concentrate on it in quiet.

The point of all this is that it is a ritual. Here is the important part: The sole purpose of the ritual is not that the ritual itself lends any particular energy or potency to the healing; it is to put the healer in the frame of mind that she believes her intention work will be effective. Because intention is personal and all about the individual, than the effectiveness of the intention is totally dependent on the person's belief that it was effective. Let me say this again:

The effectiveness of the intention, and thus the healing, is totally dependent on the healer's belief that it was effective.

It is not dependent on anything besides your own individual belief that what you did actually worked. And there is no possible way to fail when you intend only good for someone.

Intention energy is anything you want it to be. As a healer, if you wish for it to be healing, comforting, light energy, that's what it will be. It can't change into something it's not. Broken down, healing intention is nothing more than a good thought. As humans, we were given the gift and the responsibility of powerful thought. That's why there's so much material out there now on positive thought patterns, “positive internal sentencing.” Our thoughts surely affect our own bodies, so why not those around us?

Simply put, when a thought with healing intent is sent, the energy of that thought goes to work. When you realize that your thoughts are that powerful, it will turn your life around.

Ann Marie Judge
Crystal Child, Student of Life, Spirituality, & Writer

Ann Marie graduated from high school in 2005 and is currently at a crossroads in life. She is currently pursuing her love of photography and when she's not photographing, she spends most of her time doing internships and volunteering at local art galleries. In the fall, she plans to attend a massage therapy academy.

Not yet old enough for acronyms at the end of her name, she considers herself a student of life, and has been deeply involved in the spiritual community since her first awakening at the age of twelve. Since then, she has had much education in the metaphysical and spiritual arts by a wide variety of teachers and healers. She was very quickly recognized as a Crystal and Indigo child, as well as a clairvoyant and intuitive.

Because she was able to begin living for the spiritual at a young age, her dream is to reach out through her writing to other young people that are experiencing similar awakenings while still being within the educational system and a society that often does not recognize or nurture young, spiritually-gifted ones. Her vision is to form a community of spiritually-minded young people so that the younger generations will be prepared to be guides and teachers as the spiritual consciousness of the world continues to rise.

Though much of her life is still largely potential, she feels this time in her life is the first step in fulfilling her dream of becoming a published writer so as to serve the children and young people of the world that feel the spiritual stirring within. As well, she hopes to educate parents on how to nurture and understand what is going on in their children's minds from a young person's perspective.
