Quartz is said to bring the energy of the stars to the soul. In ancient cultures it has been used extensively in diagnostic healing by the lost civilization of Atlantis and Lemuria, the Native American Indians, the African tribal systems, the ancient Egypt, the Mayans and Aztecs, the Australian Aborigines, the Romans, Scots, Celts, Tibetan Buddhists, Brahmans and others in the olden days.
Today, it has been used extensively as an electrical component parts or optical lenses. Although, the most common mineral in the face of the Earth, no two quartz specimens are the same because of different colors, shade, pyramidal, prismatic, druzy, twined, sceptered, included, phantomed, microcrystalline characteristics. Some of the more popular varieties of Quartz are Rock Crystal – clear variety also used are gemstone, Amethyst – purple gemstone variety, Rose Quartz – pink to reddish variety, Citrine – yellow to orange variety, Smoky Quartz – is brown to gray.

Name:
The word "crystal" comes from the Greek word "kyrstallos" meaning ice, believed that rock crystal was water frozen by intense cold it can no longer thaw.
Myths and Legends:
Ancient Japan - believed quartz formed from the breath of a white dragon
Indian Culture - believed it could detect food poison
Natives Americans & Australian aborigines - used quartz for rain rituals
Queensland Australia Tribes - attached to rain-sticks in rain making ceremonies
Northern Queensland - pulverizes white crystals and uses the powder to stimulate or "be" rain in their mimetic rainmaking rite
New South Wales - rain-maker holds a fragment of crystal to his mouth and spits it toward the sky in rain ceremony
North American Indian - used crystals for arrowheads, knives, and ornaments
Southern California - have unearthed ceremonial wands
Cherokee - used crystals for divining rod
Ife West Africa - ceremonial tools carved from solid piece of quartz
Hottentots - used quartz implement for sacrificing animals and circumcision
Early British - quartz pebbles were called star stones used for healing
Shetland Islands - quartz pebbles were said to cure sterility, collected by women and thrown into a pool and they washed their feet
Persian Folk - sometimes are put on babies to ensure they get enough of mother's milk
