Dear Swami:
I’ve been reading a lot lately about entangled minds and thought fields, and I’m wondering if you can shed any light on the subject. First of all, have you had any experience with synchronicity? How about parallel universes? Is it possible to communicate with these parallel universes?

Dear Cy:
Well, there’s one synchronicity right there. You’re thinking about entangled minds, and my name comes up. It’s no coincidence whatsoever that I have been untangling entangled minds for years. I even spun my own string theory for a while, until it unraveled. As for synchronicity, it happens to me all the time, but the most amazing time of all was a few years ago when I was on the Today Show. I went, “Wow. Can you believe it? Here I am on the Today Show, and it’s today!” Now that’s synchronicity! In fact, on that very show, Katie Couric asked me about parallel universes, and I think she was pretty satisfied with my answer. She asked how does one communicate with someone in a parallel universe, and I said, “Send them a parallelogram.”
Well, it happened. The world woke up the day after the election day to find that Americans had seemingly repudiated the policies of George Bush and sent a Democratic majority to both houses of Congress -- in spite of all the dirty tricks the Republicans used to keep people from voting. What’s your take on this, Swami? Is it a sign we humans reached a turning point? Are we evolving?

Dear Yuri:
All indications are that the American body politic has decided it’s time for a new karma, and traded in that old Dodge for an Evolvo. There’s been a momentous shift, and we have indeed shifted momentum. Apparently, our current system reached critical mess, and enough voters awakened to create an upwising. The wising tide has launched an evolution -- and the first big shot has been fired!
Yes, the American body politic has awakened from a deep slumber, and the field has shifted. We are now getting attuned to a higher power, and it looks like we the people now have om field advantage. As a FUNdamentalist -- accent on fun -- I see that a powerful farce field has been created. Why else would the last two Republican Senators to be defeated have been “Burns and Allen?” Could it be a sign that we’ll soon be asking the current Administration to “say goodnight, disgracie?”
As expected, Karl Rove and company used all of their energy -- what the Chinese call “ch’i” -- to take unfair advantage. Ch’i ting, it is called. Nonetheless, the unarmed forces overwhelmed the old guard, and now we have a chance to pro-actively regrow America from the grassroots up. To do that, we must move past fear and separation and declare a state of “emerge ‘n see.” Time to emerge from our positions of left and right and see we must come front and center, face the music and dance together. It’s time to stop taking tired advice from the usual suspects, and start listening to those who suspect something unusual instead. And it means we need to become visionaries who help us all envision what we want so we are no longer susceptible to the divisionaries who keep us divided and give us what we don’t want.
So let’s give thanks that we seem to have avoided a collision with totalitarianism which would have totaled freedom and democracy. And let’s remember, as long as we are united in the belief we are all in this together, we can never be divided or conquered. The best way to overgrow Big Brother ... is bigger brotherhood.

Swami Beyondananda is the alter ego of author, comedian and teacher Steve Bhaerman.
In his previous life, Steve has been an educator, author and publisher. The co-founder of an alternative high school in Washington, D.C., Steve is the author of No Particular Place to Go: Making of a Free High School (Simon & Schuster, 1972) and Friends and Lovers: How to Meet the People You Want to Meet (Writer's Digest Books, 1986).
He was an adjunct professor at Wayne State University and University of Michigan, and published his own magazine in southeastern Michigan, Pathways.
For the past 16 years, he has been writing and performing comedy as Swami Beyondananda.
The Swami is author of Driving Your Own Karma, and Duck Soup for the Soul. He is also the founder of the Right-To-Laugh party, and rumor has it he will toss his turban into the ring and launch a run for President this April Fool's Day.
