The most significant event to come forth from the Summer of 2007 may well be that all global folk finally notice that “Mom Earth,”is truly annoyed and standing with Her hands on Her hips waiting for us to be quiet! After watching Live Earth in its multiple showings, I have concluded that the will to do good is still alive and well but, where are the true charismatic leaders to show us the way home? At this time when we need valiant way-showers to get us all on the road, many guiding voices have gone quiet. All hell is breaking loose on the planet and the CNN Entertainment reporter decides that Live Earth was “trite.” Her take on the event was it “was too widely spread and since it was such a sunny day, most people couldn’t be bothered to stay in one place and get the message.” She went on to conjecture that live concerts dedicated to worthy causes may be a thing of the past, as people grow weary of them. Not once did she speak for the cause they represented.
Great Earth ceremonies celebrated when the Sun is high in the sky and the Earth is producing crops, used to be a form of thankfulness to the Gods above. When mankind was singing and dancing in August, it was because we were all celebrating the return of fertility, eventual harvest and another blessed summer season alive. Since when do we require entertainment critics to speak for such sacred events? It is so like our society today that we relegate spiritual ceremony to a mundane level and interpret it through our logical minds. My take on Live Earth is that many who “showed up” for the event were concerned, were waiting for a personal epiphany and simply do not know the way home. We are ready for leaders of change, vision and action but, from what part of the herd will we cull such activists? May be this is the time when we say to ourselves, “Why me, Lord?
Many of my students study for years and years to become Masters of Spiritual Philosophy. They read every New Age book that comes down the proverbial metaphysical pipeline but, when the call to service comes, they haven’t a clue how to proceed. I take for granted, often, my roots in hippy-dom. But, not for much longer. I am inspired by F. Homer Curtiss in The Voice of Isis when he says,
“Only the true student who can devote much time and study of the subject can penetrate far into the secrets of Nature; nevertheless we are told; ‘There is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed, and hid, that shall not be known.’ We also know to help Nature and work on Her and Nature will regard thee as one of Her creators and make obeisance. She will open wide before thee the portals of Her secret chambers. Lay bare before thy gaze the treasures hidden in the very depths of Her pure virgin bosom...Unsullied by the world of Matter, She shows Her treasures only to the eye of Spirit - the eye which never closes, the eye for which there is no veil in all Her Kingdoms.”
Today is the time when all spiritual hermits are being called to the Castles in Camelots’ all over the globe, as we assume the roles of spiritual Captains of our own destinies. I often write about all those of mastery coming to the Round Table of Spirit without creating any more logical delays. So many love the call of the wild, the beauty of nature and have the money to travel deeper and deeper into foreign wildernesses as they escape Nature, defiled, closer to home. The time is coming when all the money in the world cannot buy you that perfect vacation in Bali. Or, put you on an elite cruise with all your metaphysical associates without feeling the call to higher action and therefore, higher accountability. And, the beginning of the new call to join Nature and her forces is as simple as picking up your room, bending over and collecting trash off the sides of the road, re-cycling, cleaning up your cluttered mind and most of all, stopping the spread of ugly thoughts and words.
Ed McGaa, Eagle Man of the Oglala Sioux,, sees all life as connected and believes that Native peoples have solutions to many of the stressors that plague modern society. He is a wonderful example of a quiet voice that echoes in our time and therefore, throughout eternity. One of the worst crimes you can perpetrate against Nature itself is what McGaa describes in Mother Earth Spirituality -
“If there is a hell, then our concept of hell would be an eternal knowing that one violated or took and robbed from Mother Earth and caused this suffering that is being bestowed upon the generations unborn...Worse, to have harmed and hurt ones’ innocent fellow beings...”
We are so young in our understanding of how to make technology work side-by-side with nature. But, I respect those who attempt to find a tentative balance. As I watched part of the Live Earth concerts this weekend, I was struck by how sweet the faces in the crowds appeared. They could have been the faces of my community singing hymms in church on Sunday. Or been my fellow concert goers at Woodstock, 38 years ago. Many esoteric masters give passing grades to those who join in righteous action, blindly, even though they cannot lead such action. So, maybe we become part of a movement to do good simply by purchasing a ticket to a concert devoted to positive change? There are always many levels to personal and moral commitment. I say, “It’s a start.”
As we journey through the month of Leo the Lion, may we gain the courage and respect within to find our very hearts of God. Reluctantly and with great fear, the cowardly lion in Frank Baum’s wonderful tale of mastery in groups, The Wizard of Oz, ventures forth from his dark forest to find the hallowed wisdom in the Halls of Emerald. Let us use this powerful time of illumination when our lifeline, the Sun, burns so brightly, to once again affirm our own inner light. Illumination and ceremonial work go well together in supporting our internal foundation. Ceremonies of thanksgiving, baptism and community healing are so appropriate at this time. The oceans are warming up, the flowers are blooming bright and people are now venturing out of doors by the millions. What better time to draw all communities closer together in concerted effort, meditation and activism?
And guess what? You get to play the role of Merlin as the knights of many cultures are called forward. Gather the troops in meditation. Lead them in positive affirmation, active volunteerism and inspire their thoughts to gather in peaceful groups inspired by positive change in the making. We do not all get to live out our lives, peacefully, on Maui. Finding Nature’s Path in the middle of New York City is not always easy but, if you follow the beauty unfolding in your own soul, you can never get lost. It is time for your hermit within to give way to your charismatic Arthur. All the old tales of glory ultimately call us individually to account for our own lives...while engaging in group work. All Mother Nature’s children are on call!
Many esoteric texts tell us that August, or deep summer, is the time when Gaia calls forth Her full strength so as to weather the winter darkness ahead. Hence, summer leads to harvest, thanksgiving and peaceful rest. As I grow older, the wisdom of the Mother, Her seasons and Ways and children seem to be all that matter to me. This is an immense time of change and the call to good is being broadcast through every medium, earthly or not. I challenge you to lay claim to your path of destiny and become the champion you are to be. We need The Round Table to commence again, here and now. Let us call forth the champions within all our forefathers and be ready to cloth ourselves in their spirits. Imagine that ceremony, if you will? And when we do assume command, let us all take our Mother’s hand and walk with Her in wisdom and mercy.

Dr. Gwen G. MacGregor is a nationally recognized intuitive life coach and metaphysical teacher with clients in 37 states and 7 countries.

Dr. Gwen has also volunteered for the American Red Cross, and The Washington Home Hospice of Washington, D.C.
Dr. MacGregor is a regular contributor on radio stations in Washington, DC, Baltimore and Annapolis and has appeared as a guest on the "Art Bell Show." She has also appeared on "Inside Edition," "America's Most Wanted," and the New Age television series, "Strange Universe."
Known for her clear receptionand accurate spirit readings, she is often called upon to assist in locating missing children, and has consulted on Civil Defense Air and Sea Rescue Missions. Her work with angels and spiritual mastery led to a splendid article being written in The Washington Post.
She consults with medical doctors, acupuncturists, psychologists and chiropractors to assist in patient diagnosis. She has been teaching for Prince George's & Howard County, MD, Community Colleges,' Continuing Education Programs for over 10 years as well as conducting ongoing Master's Classes in Ascension Studies. Dr. MacGregor has a B.A. in Sociology (U of MD), an M.S. inSocial Work (U of MD), a Doctorate in Divinity (ULC-CA) and a ChT in Transpersonal Hypnotherapy (NATH).
Dr. MacGregor regularly takes her innovative approach to intuitivecounseling on the road presenting informative seminars at community centers, corporate board rooms, festivals and New Age Expos.
