Tarot: Gigi Miner's Ethyrial Tarot
Changes

Here we are. It is 2007, a new year. Many people will be issuing their new year’s resolutions, promising to do whatever it is that they think they need to do. I have not found these little traditions to be very helpful. Rather, I find that they tend to provide moments of disappointment and tend to reduce our self-esteem. There are enough struggles in life without adding another that may or may not have any true significance in becoming a better person.

Changes are a part of life. If you want everything to stay the same, then life may hold extra difficulties for you. If you learn to ride the waves of change, you can make it to shore in better shape. Our card for this month is the Wheel. The Wheel reminds us that things change, and often. Since this is for a new year, I decided to throw a few extra cards around our Wheel just to get a feel for what is to come in 2007. If you thought that life had been full of variations before, this next year should show you just how calm the waters have been in comparison. Everything is in flux in our world right now. I believe that before year’s end, we may finally see a direction. It is not going to happen overnight. In fact, I think that it may take a good portion of 2007 before we start to see what will be born from these changes.
One thing that I would like my readers to understand is that they are not victims. You can be a part of the changes that take place. You can help to usher in something more than what we have. If you have been reading this column for a while, you may recall my article on The Ripple Affect. We talked about how, if many of us joined together in a common goal, we could change the world. Perhaps this is the calling for all of you to join me in this endeavor. Some of you may be old enough to remember the sixties. Peace, love, and understanding were the keywords of that decade. Yet, none of those seemed to transpire. Our hippies turned into yuppies and left behind any hopes of making a difference in their world. Now, that responsibility has fallen to us. This reading reminds us that we will have many who will try to stand in our way. Words are a big weapon on both sides. Still, I do not want this to sound like a war with sides. The idea is to bring others into the effort rather than to fight. The continual conflict between religions and people will only push us further into the darkness. It should not matter what one’s belief system is or if any two people can agree on the secrets of the universe. One truth remains constant, if we were to join together in prayer, meditation, intentional thought, we could usher in peace.
I would wager that many of you who read this will shake your heads and think this impossible. Nothing is impossible. If you choose to see what separates us, you will become lost. If, however, you choose to see one thing that joins us together, we can change this world. That one thing is the common goal of peace. We all feel so isolated in this world. We think that we, alone, can make no difference. The fact is that each of us, as individuals, has to make a choice and take some kind of action. That action can be the simple intent that you will try to live according to the idea that your actions can alter the energies of someone else, preferably for the better.
Let us think about things for a moment. Have you ever had a bad day that only got worse? Your negative energy was contagious. Your partner felt it and took it with him or her. The cat even decided that he should hide behind the couch for the day. You altered the lives of others without even trying. Consider what might happen if you were to actually choose which energies to send out every day. When you pass by someone on the street, you consciously say in your mind, “I wish you peace”. It really can be that simple. Wishing well to those with whom you work on a daily basis is a great way to start. When your mind is focused on something, it becomes your reality. Read that last sentence again. We all have bad days and cannot always be a ray of sunshine, but when we are done with that bad day, we can remember to return to our desired mindset as soon as possible.
While you may not see any outward indications of your efforts, at least not right away, you will feel what you send out. Remember the old adage “you reap what you sow”? If you sow peace and kindness, that is what will return to you. It may not come back right away. I will not lie to you. It takes time for us to change our energies. What we have created in our lives thus far needs time to turn around. The Wheel turns slowly. Even if you were never to see any changes, do you not think that this may be a better way to live?
Change is a natural part of our lives. When we become that change, it is immeasurably better than we can imagine. Powerlessness is an awful thing. To feel like a prisoner of your own life leaves us without any motivation. Lack of motivation leaves us with nothing toward which to work. We all need something to focus on in order to move forward. Living just to pay the bills gets old. Driving a newer car is empty. We are beings that need something more than the mundane. While we go to work and make the car payments, we can also be creating a new world inside of our hearts. Even more than that, we can spread those new energies out into the universe. What our disillusioned hippies only dreamed of, we can create.
Our Wheel card tells us that things are going to change during this next year. How they change is up to us. It is obvious to even the most unaware person that our world is currently heading in the wrong direction. If you want it to self-destruct, than all you need do is sit back and watch. If, however, you want something more, than make your new year’s resolution something more than losing weight or paying off the credit cards. Make this New Year a year of change and the beginning of creating something more.
If you have been waiting for a calling in your life, this is it. You do not read this by accident. You are called to help usher in the peace that we need in this world. It does not need you to hold rallies or organize sit-ins. It only needs you consciously to put forth the kinds of energy that you want to see in this world. The more of us that do that, the greater our ripple will be. We can change the entire energy of this planet if we join together toward a common goal. This is the moment. This is the calling. Now is the time of your decision.
I wish you peace!

Gigi Miner is a minister, ordained by the Universal Life Church, and has a Doctorate of Motivation from the same.
“One of the greatest benefits of Tarot is being able to take control of your life rather then be a victim of it,” is the motto of this professional Tarot consultant, author, and teacher, from upstate New York.
Moonlighting as an adult education instructor, Gigi brings that experience into her Tarot and writing work, helping clients and readers to find their own inner wisdom. Gigi has taught classes on tarot in regular and e-formats.
Believing that "laughter is the best medicine,” there is often a lighter tone to her teachings. When conducting an adult-education class, one of the main questions she asks is, "Are you having fun?” If the answer is "yes" then she knows that her students are learning more then if she were teaching in a more traditional mode.
Gigi has written articles for various newsletters, including Tarot Celebrations, World Tarot Network, and Gateway to Tarot. She has released a book entitled, “Light-of-Day Tarot & Dream Work,” which is available at www.lulu.com/ladyfogg.
Her Novel, “Card Shark” is now available at all online bookstores or by visiting:
