Knowledge
Go easy on yourself~ if you knew everything all at once your head would explode!
Hallways
Sometimes, when you close one door, you have to stand in the hallway until the next door opens instead of banging it down.
Angels In A Co-op
Every serendipitous event in our lives is orchestrated by our Angels and is always created for our benefit. As a result of Spirit Guidance recognition I am in gratitude and awe when I can look back and see some of the events that have taken place in my life. I often wonder how many events have gone on unnoticed by me, probably most. Either way~ I am positive that my life is in good hands.
It usually takes an obvious billboard event for me to pay attention and know that our Angels are all in a co-op. When we set an intention to ask for Guidance, and use our Connection of daily prayer and meditation, it is a given that we will be guided all of the time. It’s just that mostly we aren’t tuned in to this wonderful Guidance and I thank God that we are taken care of anyway.
For instance, about 10 years ago and 30 pounds less, I used to ride my bike from my house down to the river, maybe 3 miles. I rode the bike trails for my health and just generally to absorb all of the senses that each season had to offer. The whole area is pretty rural. There are usually not a lot of people around, just a few random joggers.
Late one afternoon, as I was ending my ride on the bike trail and about to gear up for a very substantial hill that led back to civilization, I looked down and noticed I had a flat tire. Hmmm, all of a sudden I became very aware that being here alone with a flat tire at dusk might not be good. I got off the bike and started walking to the road asking the Universe for Guidance. Well my prayer was more like: “Oh shit help me!” By the way even 911 prayers count.
No cell phone or ID~ nothing with me. I call those days my not paying attention days and now I always bring these things along. Just down the road their happened to be only one car parked~a Volvo station wagon. At the rear of the car a woman was sitting on the tailgate taking off her shoes. She was probably a jogger I saw no bike. I knew I had to persuade this woman, who knew me not, to take me and my bike home even though there was nothing credible to persuade her that I wasn’t an axe murderer. I prayed for Guidance again. I thought how would I approach this lady, at dusk with my only possession being a bottle of water and a crippled bike? Am I credible enough to ask for a ride with just myself and nothing more?
I trudged on and approached the lady. She must have seen the begging in my eyes and the situation I had found myself in. I said, “You don’t know me but I was wondering if you could give me a ride home, just up the hill about a mile? I have no money but can pay you for gas when we get there?” She checked me out and nodded yes. Whew, a million thank yous came rattling out of my mouth as a sigh of relief poured over me. Hanging out at dusk by the river was just not where this girl wanted to be.
After she put on her street shoes we loaded my bike into the back of her car. Funny thing if her car had been any other vehicle but a station wagon my bike would have been left behind. We didn’t talk much on the way home just the general chat to fill the space of not knowing each other. She did ask me what I did for a living and told her I worked out of my house as a massage therapist.
When we got to my house I asked her to wait up and I would run in and get some money for gas. I got my bike out and as she slammed the trunk lid she said: “Oh no worries you don’t need to pay me just be well and take care.” My thoughts came quickly that I needed to repay her in some way. I always think I need to make sure that everything is equal. But this time it was good for me to just let that go and with a wave she drove off.
To catch up in real time my friend and I decided to leave my town of nothing ever going on Orangevale, and go to the big city, Sacramento, 20 minutes away. The convention center was having a wonderful once a year show of 225 juried artists of California displaying their work for three days. I wanted to meet and be inspired by artists whom I lovingly call my ‘peeps.’ I always feel comfortable around the creative types.
We parked in the downtown lot, which cost more than the price of the tickets, and walked a short distance to this immense convention hall. Wow! We walked up and down each isle being careful to not miss a piece of the experience. I had never seen so many incredible, inspiring, unique expressions of all mediums of art in my life! Brilliant stuff. This experience was the most eye candy that my brain had taken in since I can’t remember. It was a serotonin high!
I had to work in the afternoon so we had measured time but I wanted to see it all. As my friend and I strolled from one booth to the next oogling at all of the wonderful art that we would never own, we had noticed that each tent had the name of the artist and their hometown listed. Every town from LA to Placerville was represented even some towns I had never heard of. I said to my friend hmm there doesn’t seem to be anyone from Orangevale. In case you don’t know, Orangevale is a cross between cowboy boots and jaguars and is known as halfway between Tahoe and SF. Very funky and homogeneous but boring and nothing ever goes on to my knowledge.
Just as we turned the corner to the next row of wonderful artisans my friend said, “Look~ there’s a booth from Orangevale.” We quickly sauntered up to the booth, which buy the way had incredible colorful, well-made ceramic pieces. I said to the woman artist standing with her wares, “Orangevale, wow, I’m from Orangevale. I didn’t’ know we were that advanced to have an artist amongst us? Being a massage therapist I always think I am the only one doing anything interesting in that town.” She stopped and stared at me for a second and said, “Massage therapist? Do you remember anyone helping you with a flat tire several years ago?” I had thought of my car when she said that and had never had a flat tire. So I replied, “No I don’t think so.” She said, “Down by the river…you had a flat tire?” I said: “Do you own a Volvo station wagon!!?? She replied, “Yes.” And with that we shook hands and laughed about how we looked very different from our last meeting before the ten menopausal years had caught up with us.
A thread of electricity rushed up my spine and it was as if my Angels were saying ~pay attention. I told her how many times I had shared the story about the nice lady that rescued me from a very long walk home in the dark and thanked her again. Many years had passed since that memory and the telling of the story.
Upon more discussion it turns out that she has a studio several blocks from my house! She is also having a studio open house next month and needless to say I will be attending and I will find a wonderful piece of her art to take home. The message for me is not only to show support for her work, which is incredible anyway, but also I can support this community. This also brings to mind to remember to be Humble and Greatful that there is constant Guidance and I am always in good hands no matter what predicament I find myself in. Angels show up on our path to pick us up and take us home.
This circle came back around. Maybe we both had stuff to attend to and start or finish and our time to meet again took 10 years. These types of events, the really in your face ones, are the ones that I mostly pay attention to. I know that her Angles and my mine are in a co-op and we were meant to meet again. I have a feeling, as I do plan to get to know more about her, there is something more to learn. There may be a whole community of my peeps that I have yet to discover in my own little town of Orangevale. My prayers will surely be answered then.
In this life we are all Guided and have these serendipitous events strung together like pearls ~yes? When you ask for Guidance be aware that you will receive it. It can come right away or you may not know the answer for ten years. You may not see the connection for a lifetime or sometimes a piece of the puzzle may just remain a mystery that is never known.
There is so much going on behind the backdrop of our lives. I believe that when the time is right we, as Spiritual Beings, all meet up and spend time together in this life. We share, support, add and subtract important elements from each other, for our growth and betterment as members of this Family of Spirit. Who will you connect with next? Pay attention.
Until next time~BeWell and Happy New Year!
Love Shaun
