Is There a Promotion in Your Future?

The field of business and careers is complex and challenging. Most of us travel many paths before deciding on what really seems to fit our life script. Some of the interim journeys can be quite painful, but when the breakthroughs emerge, there is considerable recognition and reward.
Let’s assume in this article that you enjoy your work and are happy with the career field you have chosen. You may have done considerable soul searching before finding the perfect fit to integrate your skills. Performance feedback suggests your contributions are improving the quality of life in the work place. The boss is complimentary. While you appreciate the pats on the back, you want something more, like a nice promotion and a fatter paycheck. Where would you look for evidence that your star is rising?
The Windfall Factor
Look to the outer planets to make contact in the career and work houses (Tenth House and Sixth House, respectively) of your chart when you are looking for a promotion or a raise. By outer planets we mean the current positions of the planets Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. These planets move at a slower rate than the more personal planetsMoon, Mercury, Venus, and Marsso their influence on any of the success houses may be significant.
Contact with a planet means a relationship or aspect that forms between two or more planets or house cusps. One aspect of high impact is called a conjunction, and is formed when an outer planet moves to the same degree as a natal planet or house cusp. Squares (aspects that form 90-degree angles from one another) are hard drivers that often force you to rethink your strategies, and ultimately make you more marketable. You may get the promotion but you will work for it every inch of the way.
Beneficial aspects are trines (120 degrees) and sextiles (60 degrees) that make harmonious aspects to planets in your success houses or their cusps. Good luck seems to breeze right in and you seem to be at the right place at the right time.
Planetary Perks
Jupiter is the planet most often associated with promotions. Individuals who have Jupiter aspecting the key work and money houses often find themselves moving up the career ladder with a much-desired promotion. This planet changes signs approximately every twelve months. Beneficiaries of this transit may find themselves enrolled in long-term developmental training or degree programs paid by their employers.
The planet Saturn traveling through these houses brings more responsibility and generally new work dynamics. Saturn often means a rise to the top if it forms a relationship to your Tenth House of career or the planets that reside there.
Uranus brings sudden changes in the workplace. Often an unplanned promotion comes your way when a shakeup of the status quo occurs. Movement of individuals in and out of the work environment creates new opportunities. It is not unusual for individuals with planets making contact with Uranus to be promoted or change jobs multiple times during the planet’s seven-year cycle.
When Neptune plays a role in your promotion, it usually brings a creative or philosophical influence to the work itself. You’ll experience more inner satisfaction than you will a major salary increase.
Promotions under a Pluto transit mean you have made a deeply significant breakthrough in your attitude toward earned income. Those experiencing a Pluto transit to the career or work houses often evaluate those stuck places, snap out of ruts and embrace a new career field that pays more money.
Success Indicators
In addition to the Sixth and Tenth, there are other astrological houses that give information about your career. Briefly, the Second House shows your personal preference for marketing your talent and earning money. This house also holds clues about how you like to spend that salary and your attitude toward material resources.
Your Fifth House shows how you demonstrate creativity and entrepreneurial skills. With prompting from the right array of planets, you may gamble, win lotteries and try a bit of risk-taking on for size.
Look to the Sixth House, not only for work itself, but for the type of work environment that promotes your best performance and opportunity for continuous improvement.
If you have a business partner, the Eighth House indicates the financial wellness and support of the pooled resources and any significant investments that bless the union.
In addition to being the “career house,” the Tenth House describes your boss, your profession and how you are recognized as an expert in your field. Concentrated ambition attracts the attention you desire in your climb to the top.
Finally, the Eleventh House promises the distribution of benefits, raises, bonuses, awards and acclaim that come to you as a member of the company, once a Tenth House authority recognizes your achievement.
Remember that you must have some activity in one or more of those money and career houses to activate a promotion cycle. Transits bring the energy that trigger desired changes. No action means the timing is off, regardless of your wishes. Stagnation is not good for you from a professional standpoint. Sometimes the promotion is not meant to come from within the firm.
If you have been in limbo regarding career advancement, perhaps you need advice from a qualified mentor or consultant. It’s also possible that you are in the wrong organization and would sail to the top in a work environment that offers a more enticing career ladder. Have confidence in your talent and experience. Act like a winner! Update your resume and send it to supportive networks. Before long you’ll have the headhunters presenting multiple offers. I see a promotion in your future
