Astrologer's Notes:

Sharpshooting
Specifics into Synthe
sis

by Noel Tyl

Let's take another step into the process of synthesis by sharpshooting four very important observations, five insights that can be striking brushstrokes within the horoscope painting.

First, let's get familiar with this woman's horoscope: the emphasis is definitely to the North, below the horizon, suggesting some unfinished business in the early home. The Neptune opposition with the Piscean group in the 3rd House is going to be quite important, suggesting aesthetic communications, possibly a spacey wandering of thought, even things spiritual or occult. The Moon in Scorpio is allied by aspect with Jupiter and Pluto and promises a controlling sense of purpose in the life. With Uranus conjunct Venus, ruler of the Midheaven, the conjunction opposed the Midheaven and squared by Pluto, we can expect a career orientation that is electrified, that is unusual, in relation to aesthetics, to communications, and that may be fired with sexuality drama.

Finally, we can see that Saturn is peregrine (not making a Ptolemaic aspect), is in Aquarius, and will be dominant in the public expression of ambition in the horoscope.

Now, let's look at four specifics that add special dimensions that would be explored further in full synthesis preparation and in consultation with the lady.

Relationships We know that the 7th House is where we study relationships, chiefly marriage. With Gemini on the cusp of the 7th (along with Pisces, a so-called double-bodied Sign), we can expect more than one relationship of great importance, plural marriages. -This might not seem earthshakingly important in this day and age, but it can be indeed, and such is the case with this woman. We should always be aware of this signal in the horoscope; it stands for a great deal in other departments of life.

Public Exposure, Prominence Second, Let's look at two extremely important midpoint pictures. They are critical because they relate to the Sun/Moon midpoint and involve the Aries Point (the first two degrees of any Cardinal Sign). We have AP at the midpoint of Pluto/Ascendant, suggesting enormous public perspective. The vital Sun/Moon midpoint at 11 Capricorn 26 is squared by the Midheaven, again a testament of great prominence and public show. This is one exposed client!

Sense of Purpose Third, we must note that any time Saturn and Jupiter are in contact, there is a sense of purpose strongly suggested within the life profiled by the horoscope. Here we have Saturn peregrine (which means its significance will be dominant; ambition) and quindecile (165 degrees, fifteen degrees less than the opposition) Jupiter (a non-Ptolemaic aspect, allowing Saturn to be peregrine but adding an enormous focus, even an obsession, to the mix).

With Saturn in Aquarius, we can expect a humanitarian purpose to be highly focused within this woman, to be linked with financial resources (in the 2nd and ruling the 2nd). This sense of purpose could define her practically as much as her career will (note that Jupiter is the ruler of her Ascendant and trines that projected personal point).

Reinforcing this sense of humanitarian purpose are her promotion energies: note that Mars is the last planet to rise over the Ascendant in clockwise motion, i.e., the last planet behind the Sun in longitude. We say that whatever planet is in this position is the oriental planet. With Mars oriental we know the person requires the outlet for her promotional energies; she needs a cause to promote, for which to beat the drum.

--Let's look at what we have here above and beyond our cursory initial orientation analysis: we see a very, very publicly projected woman, armed to the teeth with electrifying career talents in aesthetic communications, probably involved with several marriages -therefore somewhat tempestuous emotionally.

Vocational Profile Let's add a fourth consideration: the vocational profile, zeroing in on what we already suspect generally. [Vocational Analysis is a very demanding skill in astrology; the "Midheaven Process" is studied fully in a condensed booklet guide I have written, which is presented at noeltyl.com, MENU, BOOKS.]

We begin to sharpshoot the profession by beginning with the Midheaven and extending its outreach throughout the horoscope as creatively as we can.

1. Venus rules the Libra Midheaven. Already, we begin to think of creativity, aesthetics, art, social projection.

2. Jupiter, ruler of the Ascendant, is in trine aspect with Venus; a strong reinforcement of our initial deduction.

3. Uranus is exactly conjunct Venus opposing the Midheaven! This is a major statement that tells us about creativity intensified, that is egoistically anchored (in Aries), and that all of this is a personal projection of our "client."

4. To extend this outreach further, we see that Mars is the planet that disposits Uranus and Venus ("rules" the sign in which the conjunction is located). Mars is in conjunction with the Sun and Mercury, and Neptune opposes the group, with Neptune the dispositor of them all, including Mars. Mercury and Neptune are in mutual reception and in aspect there, a very, very strong tie (each ruling the sign tenanted by the other), and the focus is on the 3rd House of communications, ruled by Neptune.

We see that the whole horoscope is tied into aesthetic communications. The Neptune prominence suggests films, television, photography [preferred over "art" since Mercury is more central in the mix than Venus].

Subtly here, we can feel the importance of Mercury redoubled because it is the ruler of the 7th, the plural marriage indication.

Charisma Anytime there is contact between Mars and Neptune, we can expect a level of charisma … even in ordinary folk! J And for this lady, it seems to be gilding the lily: Neptune opposed Mars!

And so it goes. We now have a grasp on this horoscope that a skilled astrologer can assemble quite readily. This is the horoscope of Elizabeth Taylor. In her post-film life, her sense of public mission rose up as world leader for the fight against AIDS, raising enormous amounts of money for the cause, being a public spokesperson for the cause.

Study these insight windows: the articulation of the 7th cusp and its references in terms of marriage, the publicity projection of the Sun/Moon midpoint and the Aries Point (and the oriental planet), the focus of extreme sense of purpose, and the beginnings of vocational profiling. You will enrich your skill decidedly!
