Monte Farber and Amy Zerner came to my attention as author/illustrator of the "The Enchanted Tarot". This stunning deck is only a part of their body of personal empowerment work, which also includes "The Chakra Meditation Kit", "The Instant Tarot Reader", "The Psychic Circle", "Karma Cards", "The Pathfinder Psychic Talking Board", "True Love Tarot", "The Zerner-Farber Tarot Deck", "The Oracle of the Goddess", "The Truth Fairy", "The Healing Deck", "The Breathe Easy Deck", and "Gifts of the Goddess Affirmation Cards".
"Power Animals" is a kit that includes an audio meditation CD (with original music), twelve animal meditation cards, twelve animal amulets, and a meditation guidebook. The authors note in the introduction that animals have the power to help us feel more hopeful about ourselves, and the world around us, by simply being there. The purpose of the "Power Animals" kit is to help the reader incorporate animal wisdom into their daily life.
The twelve animals chosen, and the qualities that they represent, are as follows:
Cat - Confidence
Bison - Prosperity
Rabbit - Opportunity
Turtle - Protection
Dolphin - Creativity
Horse - Strength
Dove - Peace
Snake - Power
Owl - Wisdom
Butterfly - Freedom
Dog - Friendship
Lizard - Change
The meditations offered in this kit are powerful exercises that act to take the Seeker into a state of relaxed meditation, focusing on the specific energy of the individual animals. You can draw a card blind, and work with that energy, or you can go through the cards and work with specific animals to bring their energy into your life. The kit is designed to work through the use of visualization, affirmations, and specific breathing techniques that serve to:
1. help you develop spiritual skills
2. clear your mind, body, and spirit
3. energize your life
4. open your heart
5. center and ground you
6. restore a sense of well being
7. guide you to your goals
The meditation guide includes a discussion of the kit's purpose, instructions for basic breathing techniques during meditation, instructions on the use of the contemplation cards and the CD, the wearing of your animal amulet, and a section of text for each animal energy, listing the purposes of each animal's energy, a discussion of the energy, and a synopsis of the changes that you can expect within yourself when aligning with this energy.
The Contemplation Cards are 6 1/2" by 6 1/2", on sturdy, high quality card stock. They are color coded, with the name of the animal in the upper left hand corner, the type of energy the animal carries in large white text along the bottom of the card, and a written invocation on the back of the card. The invocation for Cat reads:
Cat Invocation For Confidence
Cat spirit, please come to me.
Help me to move swiftly, help me to see.
You are clever with hunting and seeking,
Lead me to know my time and purpose.
Tech me self-confidence and balance.
Show me your magic and mystery.
So I can have the ability to go my own way.
The CD includes meditations for each of the animals that help to create a healing ritual space. As you affirm each animal's energy, this energy weaves itself into your life. The music contained within each meditation was composed specifically for this purpose by Luigi Colarrulo. Each meditation begins with an invocation by Amy Zerner opening the gateways to the animal kingdom by asking each animal to come and teach us its special gift. The meditation itself is channeled by Monte Farber, relating the character, attitude, and lesson of each animal.
Any of these tools - the written meditation, the audio meditation on CD, the cards, or the amulets can be used by themselves, or in conjunction with one or more of the other tools. I found this to be a well written, well presented, easy to work with concept that could be adapted to anyone's life.
