Skill is a South Card and it is Red. Expressing your highest nature through you work is sometimes easiest when work is not exactly as you wish it to be. There are hidden gifts within friction. Therein lies the secret to a graceful life. You are not what you do, your work is a higher mirror providing a reflection from which to learn in your evolutionary process. Then work becomes a higher skill and you begin to fine-tune not only your physical self, but your spirit. The Zen garden expresses the essence of life and a highly perfected skill. Come to the inner truth that produces true skill. That is why you have a monk sitting next to a Zen Garden in the picture on the card; within it he sees the eternal world within the truth of that garden.

The painting is entitled “ All Is One”. Skill is a South card because it has to do with your physicality in the world and tuning yourself to your highest degree of accomplishment. As in all things, there is a lower skill and a higher skill. The lower skill is the ability to do something without spirit, simply doing a job. The higher skill requires finesse. It requires the balanced perfection of your totality of physicality and spirit. Then true skill is born.
In this painting, a monk, a Shaman symbol of spiritual activity is reflecting on a Zen garden where the stones represent different aspects of life and endeavor. In the center is the sphere of higher knowledge, of self-understanding of the inner world, which leads you to the higher levels of accomplishment and the outer world of true skill. Rob Schouten is the Artist.
This is an affirmation that you could use daily on your path to self empowerment.
I am a new warrior of spirit. I exist in a world of sacred balance. I balance with one foot in the physical world of material substance and one foot in the dimensions of spirit and sacred life. My course is set by my ally, the winds of time. Mother Earth gives me life force, the lifeblood of my sacred body. The plants give me nourishment and healing as I ride the wind horse of my intent. My sacred warriors transport a buoyant joy into a new and unknown world of harmony. Blessings and Love to all of you.
