Divination Systems: Be Your Oracle
Embrace the Emperor Within

Let's talk about your business. As a tarot seer, I am supposed to know the future, but prediction is sketchy, at best. So, why consult the cards and do readings? Because the cards, at least in some contemporary tarot decks, give us a map for how to manifest our visions and dreams. Instead of "fortune telling," progressive tarot is "fortune creation."
With this approach, a deck of cards is like packing along your own coach. That's how I use the tarot – as a wholistic, intuitively creative, archetypal set of symbolic maps (layouts for readings) that chart the way for relationships, growth, health and, of course, work and money. In addition, each so-called Major card through its picture-symbols is, in fact, a guide for realizing it's particular quality, eg. the Magician "manifester" provides the formula for manifestation, and the intuitive Priestess for intuitive development.
The focus of this article is using the tarot for succeeding in your business via the Voyager Tarot's Emperor "empire builder" archetype card. This alpha male is a "hardball" business mentor. For right or wrong, this is a demanding, competitive, sometimes ruthless business world. Emperor-like business actions may seem offensive to you, but screaming eagles, giant whales and fighting rams (all Emperor's of the animal world) get places and astound the world with their achievements. Personally, I'd like to see more of an Empress way of doing business.
We all need to remember that maps and mentors, by themselves, get us nowhere. It is our actions that carry the day. What you are about to read is a tried and true success formula, but you must determine the actual steps to take. As a professional Reader/Coach, my job to help you establish effective"do-able" actions.
Let's get on with our empire building. First things first, the word "emperor" and "empress" derives from the latin word "parere," which means to parent, beget and give birth. Re-establishing your purpose, what are you birthing and creating in our culture by your business? The action here is to simply affirm and re-affirm your business intention for doing good works.
Like the master strategist, Alexander the Great the Emperor, in the Voyager card, what is your master plan? What is your great challenge that you want to conquer? Rethink, Revision, and Reformulate your plan that includes how to overcome what you know to be your biggest hurdle.
In the card, King Philip, is speaking to his son, Alexander. Indeed, all great people have wise counsel. Who is your mentor(s), and when was the last time you asked for advice. Regardless of how much our experience and how much we know, it always behooves us to seek and listen for new wisdom.
The emperor of the sky is the Sun, so how visible are you in your community and/or in your trade? What actions can you take to become the dominant force in your field?
Remember, empires are not built overnight, but stone by stone, step by step. So, like the seedling in the Emperor card, are you truly patient? Can you grow and cultivate success over time? Like all the gold in the Alexander's stash of wealth, do you have the financial resources to build and sustain? What actions can you take to improve your bank balance? Money is like mana, money is materials, money is must. My own personal mantra is, "Have Fun, Do good, Make Money!"
Alexander also become "great" because of human resources. He had the manpower, for he was a leader who recruited and inspired a juggernaut team. How do you lead? What actions can you take to bring on board reliable and competent help?
The Emperor season is Aries spring and the Emperor time of day is daybreak, thus are you springing forward? Are you ready, early to work, energized, turned on, again and again? What can you do to stay motivated and keep energized?
Alexander became known as "great" because he expanded his reign. In what way can you extend your own business? And again, what's the step by step plan for doing that? Expansion is inherently a competitive thrust, so do you have the yang, testosterone competitiveness to use frustration, anger, and disappointment as fire points for escalating your dominion. Like the Aries ram, do you have the heart and head to ram forth? How can you battle the encroaching superstores and crystal shops?
Emperors are calculated risk takers. Successful entrepreneurs bet on themselves on the wheel of fortune of commerce. Like the eagle in the Voyager Emperor card, are you ready to fly high and take risks? What risks do you need to take? Obviously, you know how to take some risks by establishing your business, but it cannot be a one-time deal. Success takes continuous growth, expansion and risk. When we get complacent and comfortable, now there is real danger!
To reach the top of the mountain, the Emperor's natural environment, requires effort, smarts and courage, no doubt. But let me ask you, what mountain top are you the king or queen of?
What do you simply do the best? Where do you rule in terms of your kind of business? And how do you plan to maintain that mountain top? The power of place, hold your turf.
If I were your business coach, I'd like to know what you would say about your Emperorish element fire. It takes a fiery temperament – passionate heart, energized body, inspired spirit, and bright mind – to leave a lasting legacy of productive and profitable work that has brought joy and service to the world. How can you spark and maintain that fire within? Go to the four cornerstones of your whole self to transform energy into synergy (the Emperor is number four card in the tarot).
Here's how to do that: In your mind's eye cornerstone, keep imagining every day in your Aries Emperor forehead, where life is forecast, yourself being successful in carrying out your vision for your business. Know that you are already a success, that you have a track record of success, and so extend your domain confidently and affirmatively.
In your second cornerstone – the body – feel the fire in your belly, the warmth in your heart, and the movement in your solar plexus to rally and go forth. As you sense the welling cauldron in the third cornerstone of emotion, feel and identify the feelings of joy, love, bliss, and ecstasy for implementing your visionary foresight. Let that emotion put you into motion and keep you motivated.
And keep doing, and doing, and doing, understanding that in the active doing all becomes creatively and intuitively clear, and things get done, of course. I know from making Voyager Tarot for four years that it was in the actual making of the cards that the greatest inspirations and insights for making the Deck special came through.
Don't ever forget the fourth cornerstone of power, the inner-self, the life spirit that carries all the history and herstory of this planet throughout all the ages. Deep within our psyche lie all the great archetypes of the world, whether it be the greatest lover, the most enlightened person, or the super fit health nut. Go to the Emperor within yourself. Imagine an ultimate business king and have a conversation with him. Ask this powerful inner executive coach what to do next. Maintain an open line of dialogue with this entrepreneurial guide. All it takes is trust, communication and subsequent action.
Tarot cards are just that, cards made of cardboard. But each card is a sign to go ahead and encounter the inner proprietor of the quality indicated by the card. So, in fact, a successful empire builder does live within us. The Emperor card is simply a tool for getting us kick started for owning the driving, fiery life force that sows the seed of evolution, survival and thrival.
