Let’s Make Michaelmas a Global Day of Good Deeds?

Every year, come September, I am struck by a need to ask Congress and the U.N. to declare Michaelmas, September 29th, a national holiday. Now, I know we can’t mix church and state affairs. But, it seems the energy and purpose of the angels or messengers from our higher selves, is not necessarily at cross-purposes with any earthly faith. And lest we forget, the celebration of the solstice is far more ancient than any constitution standing today. In ancient times, this date helped release mankind from the toils of their labor and allowed grateful people to say thank you for all the great gifts of the harvest. In more recent history, the Catholic Church has bastardized a holiday once dedicated to Michael’s triumph over Satan into a mixed feast day celebrating the BIG 4 angels; Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel. I suggest we bring this goodness affirming day of celebration back and make it, “World Day of Good Deeds.”
Michael, as we all know, is a holy messenger of the Christian, Hindu and Islamic God but, he goes by many names in other cultures as well. I look upon Archangel Michael, and all the angels, as wisdom paths of the Creator. In other words, they are archetypes throughout time for the eternal wisdoms of The One God - whatever that may mean to you. I see the stories of triumph over evil as just that - stories that show us the great possibilities we hold inside as we traverse this earthly realm of adventure and lesson-learning. Whether Michael is called David or Franklin Roosevelt or Moses or William the Conqueror, the energy of victory that drives humanity closer to A ONENESS within God’s Plan, is all we need to remember about this great wisdom of The Protector.
The Mother God is One but, has many faces upon the Earth. The Father God has one face. And, it is the continuing action of Michael upon the landscape of Earth, through time, that reflects that all-knowing power.
Now, back to the idea of this new holiday upon the Earth. You know THEY say, “Build it and THEY will come.” In this particular variation of that idea, the THEY can be construed to be the coming together of many souls on Earth dedicated to furthering goodness and compassion. Why have we not understood that we can all be conductors of God’s enlightenment simply by joining our voices and actions together? Of course we have the idea of where this can lead but, I do not see anyone on the planet being the goodwill ambassador that will lead this endeavor? The U.N. in all its original expectations has not succeeded. Everyone knows it plays a minimal part in separating mankind’s baser instincts from more loving activity on the planet. What if every nation voted, internally, on sending an ambassador to a new union that gathered every September 29th in different locations every year? And, what if that person was selected by the majority vote of all the people in his or her own country? We all know that most political leaders appoint U.N. Ambassadors. It hasn’t worked in the past. Let us see this new post as too important to be left to political appointments.
The new holiday would suggest we use the day to improve the planet. All unnecessary work would be suspended for the day so that billions of do-gooders could dedicate the day to assisting others in need in their home areas. Wars would be stopped for 24 hours (it has been done before so, don’t see me as idealistic and foolish!). All leaders would be expected to be in the front lines leading the positive action in their nation. We spend so much decisive time belittling one another and hating other nations not in agreement with us. Have we moved so far apart that a day of good deeds seems impossible? I certainly hope not.
Remember, destiny is changed by every decision we make concerning our own character, deeds done and actions moving forward. In other words, we can simplify our lives by moving in a direction that is simply, more peaceful and shows good faith towards all of humanity. In the end of time, it is nations and individuals of strength and moral consciousness who are the leaders/countries we all idolize and hope to emulate. It takes courage, belief in a better way and a reliance on a knowing that we are much more than these feral, untrusting, unlikeable people that we are seeing every day in the news. The only thing that has the power to break the back of all this violence is a simple trust in a power many see as angelic.
The love and beauty of our children, coupled with the sheer splendor of Earth alone, should dictate that this day be dedicated to the Original Idea, the First Thought, The One who protects us through thick and thin. On September 29th, can we not repay our many gifts by performing those acts of kindness and compassion that will begin to close the door of darkness that is being opened way too much lately? As a world citizen, I vote “Yes” to this new holiday. A holiday of action and good deeds and total spiritual oneness.

Dr. Gwen G. MacGregor is a nationally recognized intuitive life coach and metaphysical teacher with clients in 37 states and 7 countries.

Dr. MacGregor has successfully consulted with over 2,000 clients across the United States and abroad utilizing her skills as a gifted clairvoyant-life coach, hypnotherapist, tarot and palm reader. While she is originally from New York and Washington, DC, she currently makes her home in Annapolis, MD near the Severn River.
Gwen believes in being an on-going activist and just recently stepped down from her work as an empowerment director for 18 years with the Good Knight Campaign for Protection - a national non-profit organization dedicated to stopping crime and violence against children.Her full-time volunteering allowed her to work with thousands of children and their families.
Today, she still emphasizes the "champion" within all children, whether they be 6 or 60 years old and she conducts workshops challenging adults and children to fulfill their true potential through community volunteering, character development and self-esteem boosting on
physical, mental and spiritual levels. She has worked with "Indigo"children for most of her adult life.
Dr. Gwen has also volunteered for the American Red Cross, and The Washington Home Hospice of Washington, D.C.
Dr. MacGregor is a regular contributor on radio stations in Washington, DC, Baltimore and Annapolis and has appeared as a guest on the "Art Bell Show." She has also appeared on "Inside Edition," "America's Most Wanted," and the New Age television series, "Strange Universe."
Known for her clear receptionand accurate spirit readings, she is often called upon to assist in locating missing children, and has consulted on Civil Defense Air and Sea Rescue Missions. Her work with angels and spiritual mastery led to a splendid article being written in The Washington Post.
She consults with medical doctors, acupuncturists, psychologists and chiropractors to assist in patient diagnosis. She has been teaching for Prince George's & Howard County, MD, Community Colleges,' Continuing Education Programs for over 10 years as well as conducting ongoing Master's Classes in Ascension Studies. Dr. MacGregor has a B.A. in Sociology (U of MD), an M.S. inSocial Work (U of MD), a Doctorate in Divinity (ULC-CA) and a ChT in Transpersonal Hypnotherapy (NATH).
Dr. MacGregor regularly takes her innovative approach to intuitivecounseling on the road presenting informative seminars at community centers, corporate board rooms, festivals and New Age Expos. Her individual spiritual consultations address issues such as personal health, success, loving relationships and self-empowerment techniques for corporations and individuals. She is a distinguished Reiki Master, and incorporates healing touch and esoteric ceremonial techniques into much of her work.
As a spiritual counselor and clairvoyant, Gwen G. MacGregor has dedicated the last 26 years of her life to promoting balanced spiritual and physical integration. Her readings move clients to take greater responsibility for their own lives and success.
