Reading the cards is an insight process, which gives us new perspectives about ourselves, but unless that "aha" is put into action, it's often just another idea. This is why I use cards as a "coaching" tool for myself and others. Coaching implies taking action and is results-oriented. As a personal growth mentor using tarot as a map for guidance, I like to see results. Rather than attempting to foresee the future, the best way to predict it is to create it! While the cards show the way, the map, itself, won't get anyone anywhere. Action carries the day and makes tomorrow.
There are tons of coaching programs, so why tarot? Because consulting the cards is "intuitive," not a formula that might be right for some but not for others. Intuition keeps us constantly adapting to changing situations and to diverse people. Intuition is your natural genius, whereas many coaching systems are structured systems, often more suited for fixing machines.
Because of the surprise factor that comes with picking facedown cards, tarot coaching is "outside the box". We all need "new thinking" because I know from experience that we cannot solve problems by the kind of thinking that created them in the first place. The unpredictability of the cards insures that we don't project from past prejudice and from simplistically following formula routine.
The map of tarot has profound value for it's "wholistic," ®¢ the only way to real success. The four suits of the deck show us how to utilize our brain, emotions, body, illuminated spirit and inner archetypal sub-personalities. When all these parts are engaged, we have synergy, the best way to achieve.
Tarot is "mythic," for it tells us that we are a composite of powerful archetypes ®¢ not just intuitive, but a Priestess intuitive; not just a manifestor, but a Magician. This naming of ourselves is empowering and inspires us to act upon our inherent genes and genius.
These motivating cards mirror us not just through words but by symbolic images. The "power of the picture" is energizes and moves us. Picture-symbols activate the depth of the subconscious and anchor retention of their message.
Tarot coaching is a mysterious process, and it's in the "mystery" from which we all originate, so why not tap this most magical of all powers. Tarot is a "spiritual" practice, a way of asking and receiving the great prime mover of life to be inspirited and moved. What an ally!
Spirit talks to us through the cards by "synchronicity." Whatever card whatever happens in our life at any give time is correct and meaningful. This enables us to value and use all the cards, and all events in life, as energy and resources. Armed with all this, how can we go wrong? We can't, so just go ahead and act.
By the way, my card for the day is the Lovers, a good day to connect and to communicate. The action? This column.
