Alternative Health & Healing: Heal Your Heart, Heal Your Life.
What is Your Destination?
|
|
 |

Imagine that you want to go to New York. But the airline that you are most comfortable with, let’s call it Friendly Sky Airline, has no flights to New York. Friendly Sky Airline only flies from your home town to Boston. So you keep going to the airport and getting on the plane to Boston simply because you are comfortable with Friendly Skyit’s easy. After all, you’ve been using their service for your entire adult lifeyou like the wide aisles and the luxurious seating and you’ve even developed a level of comfort with the flight attendantswho you’ve grown to know personally over the years. It all makes sense to you. The only problem is once you arrive in Boston, you are not where you want to be. Your true destination should be New York and you know it in every cell of your body.
What does this have to do with weight loss? When you stop to think about itaren’t you doing the exact same thing every time you resist taking the actions that will in fact lead to permanent weight loss? Aren’t you choosing to eat the same foods you’ve always eaten? Don’t you believe that you should be able to eat the same quantity of food you have perpetually eaten since you were a child? And don’t you resist maintaining the activity level required when eating abundant levels of high calorie, processed food?
In the same way, that you feel compelled to fly Friendly Sky Airline just because you are comfortable with it, despite the fact that it is not taking you to your desired destination, you are wanting to engage in behaviors that are leading you to the opposite result you desire.
When you stop to look at that, is it not because you have a belief that changing your course would somehow be uncomfortable and painful for you? Don’t you continue to engage in harmful behaviors despite the pain of the unwanted outcomeoverweight and/or poor healthbecause you are comfortable with your existing habits?
But imagine if making the switch to behaviors that actually lead to your goal, was not only pain free but extremely liberating at every level! Isn’t it possible that when you switch to New York Airlines, you might actually prefer it? What if New York Airline had even more spacious seating than Friendly Sky Airlines? Perhaps the flight attendants on NY Air are professional and caring and the people you would meet on the flight to New York delightful and compatibleable to talk to you about a very relevant topic: things to do in New York.
By the same token, making the decision to switch to eating smaller portions of healthier foods and increasing your level of activity, CONSISTENTLYjust as you shower or brush your teeth daily, could actually prove to not only lead you to your goallooking and feeling your bestbut could improve the quality of your day to day life and bring you more benefits than you even can imagine..
What if changing your habits has the potential to open a whole new world for you? Isn’t it possible that becoming more health conscious and self-aware could lead you down your true path in lifewhether it be toward closer relationships with dear friendsold and newor even a new career path? It may improve your level of health in the most unexpected ways or literally give you a new lease in life.
So why do you stay stuck? Because as a human being you are a creature of habit. Isn’t it easier to perpetually get on the plane that goes to Boston and complain about your surroundings when you get there? It’s also very likely that there is a whole group of fellow companions who would love to bond with you at this level, over and over again. Take a moment, though, and think of the alternativeimagine actually getting on the plane to where you want to go? Aren’t you worthy of that? If your heart wants New York and all that the Big Apple has to offerwhy wouldn’t you face that fear and get on the plane that is heading to your destination?
Right now it may seem that eating unprocessed foods in their natural state as much as possible, with healthy sources of protein and lots of water rich food (salad, vegetables and fruit), combined with complex carbs and healthy fat90% of the timemay seem like a huge leap from running in and out of fast food restaurants on the fly and consuming rich, creamy sauces and processed, simple carbs as a staple. But where has that old routine with food and lack of sufficient exercise gotten you? Is it leading you down the road of your dreamsto happiness, fulfillment, and fitting comfortably into your clothes? Of course, not! It’s leading to the oppositeanxiety and depression and obsession over deteriorating health or unwanted weight gain.
The hardest part about making your decision to shift gears and actually do the actions that will lead to your goal might very well be just that: simply making the decision and stating that you are worthy to make this change. Aren’t you tired of landing where you don’t want to be? You know that weight loss really is as simple as choosing healthy foods, eating smaller portions and increasing activity. Doing these behaviors will lead you to health and living at your ideal weight. It’s as simple as taking that first step and when you do you’ll find that momentum builds and maintaining your new healthier habits becomes easier that going back to where you don’t want to be. Get on the vehicle that will take you to your destination. Self-hypnosis, imagery and NLP techniques can support you in keeping your mindset strong! The first step is choosing the destination . . .
