Ecstatic Understatements

It's the eighth year of the twenty-first millennium, and despite our best forecasts and sincerest aspirations, no one really knows what lies ahead, personally, nationally, or globally. We live in stormy times, when change comes in tsunami proportions. It used to be said that only death and taxes are certain, but we can easily update the aphorism to include stress.
The customary seasonal flood of good advice and resolutions notwithstanding, the Holistic Mystic this month offers fifty timeless micro-poems to tickle your spirit and inspire your journey forward. May they add some light on your path - or at least provide some "cosmic relief" - as we stumble along towards humanity's unknown, but inevitably unfolding destiny.
The outer silence and the inner silence are the same silence.
The sky has no frame. The bird songs are tax-free.
Truth needs no rehearsal.
The winter neither forbids or invites - it just snows.
In our greeting, the Sun smiles; in our parting, the rain cries, "I love you in all weather."
The empty Universe is packed solid with consciousness.
If Life can be, it can be anything: The impossible is natural.
God comes in the form of people.
I open the miracle refrigerator and miracle milk spills out all over me. I must be a miracle too!
May the Real Light shine on me this day.. May the real me see it.
How limited our vision, to miss noticing our enormous velocity through the interstellar void.
Thoughts are birds; feelings are clouds; emotions are rain; breath is the wind; I am the sky.
Avoid losing your life: give it away.
If you don't believe in miracles, you don't know yourself.
You are God making believe you have amnesia.
Fish can't see water.
The summer seems endless, and then it's over.
Capture the imagination. Confound the intellect. Open the heart.
When you can take it or leave it, there's always just enough.
Even pain is a type of light.
Faster than light is consciousness. Only your nervous system slows it down.
Hearing requires less energy than listening.
Not merely part of creation, you are creator of your part.
Whatever started the Universe never went away.
Reality has a within - Her name is Here.
I am made around the same emptiness as you are.
My constant prayer is silent; asking for nothing, offering all - I thank you before you walk in the door.
Sight does not exist when one is not seeing. Love does not exist when one is not loving.
Ah, breath.. where is it? Ah, self.. who am I?
The Universe is so big and so old that space is a function of time is a function of light is a function of Mind. Do not forget that this means nothing.
Conditioned thought runs on pure mind.
Emptiness passing through itself creates substance.
This body is consciousness manifesting matter.
Within and without the phenomenal world, a metaphor for mind.
Realities? Each one works for a while.
If the past is real, where is it?
Who draws the line between here and infinity?
Everything is a metaphor for everything else.
Eternity is now never-ending.
The force of conformity, the bond of a promise, the pull of a question, the pain of a memory, the impact of a dream.. the power is mind.
Surrender anything you can think of.
Writing the script for the next world-moment, make it a good one.
Darkness is jealous of the Light
Play lightly, drop concepts, give yourself away, honor the Source, take your vitamins.
Love the song and it will sing itself.
When it rains, water the house plants.
Become your own hero.
Trust in God, especially on weekends and week days.
Forty or fifty years from now will still be now.
May you come through too much from nothing to just enough.
