John Edwards is now out of the race. The constricting Saturn square to his Moon/Jupiter conjunction of November 2007 through February 2008 was simply too much to overcome during this very tightly contested campaign. For a few days, he may bask in the warmth of his loyal supporters with his progressed Moon conjunct his natal Jupiter, but during the second half of February, he may go through a somewhat melancholic withdrawal (Saturn square his Moon). Come March, everything will change for Edwards, when Uranus moves into a square with his Sun and semisquares his Venus, further accented by a quincunx to the Sun from Jupiter at the end of the month. The transformative wind will sweep him up even further from late September through January 2009, pushing him onto a new and unexpected lifepath.
Barack Obama will find that things ease up for him after tomorrow, January 31, with Saturn beginning to wane from its conjunction to his chart ruler, Pluto (6Virgo58). He will enter an increasingly Jupiterian period, likely to bring significant successes, from February 5 through February 12, when Jupiter sesquiquadrates his progressed Node/progressed Venus (26Leo55) and quincunxes his Sun (12Leo18). These aspects suggest he will do relatively well during Tsunami Tuesday on February 5, but the Potomac Primary on February 12 may not be as promising.
Hillary Clinton is enjoying the transit of Uranus sesquiquadrate her Sun (2Scorpio18) at present, activating the square of progressed Venus to her Sun through February 14. This has kept her popular but has also brought some sudden and unexpected upsets. It seems Bill Clinton has stepped back from his hatchet man role and become a more conciliatory and supportive presence, which can only benefit Hillary and, most importantly, prove she is capable of reining him in. Her biggest problem is the Neptune square to her Mercury (21Scorpio 24) and possibly her Ascendant (??21Scorpio44), as well as Neptune’s opposition to her Saturn (21Leo19) which will be exact on February 2. This aspect, which has been going on since February 2007, brings heightened and unrealistic expectation, self-deception, and disappointment. It may suggest she does not do as well as expected on February 5. With Mars returning to her Uranus (25Gemini56) on February 7 through February 14, we may see some increasing attacks aimed at Obama, who himself will have transiting Mars quincunx his 3rd house Saturn (25Capricorn21) at the same time, presenting him with the difficulty of how forcefully to respond.
John McCain is now seen as the Republican front-runner, having won New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Florida. He is benefiting from a progressed Jupiter conjunction to his progressed Node (25Sagittarius03) through early April. This aspect has been given a great deal of strength by the current Mars station from January 13 through February 11. It is quite possible he will also enjoy the success indicated by a Jupiter transit to his Midheaven (11Cancer 18) from February 3 through February 7, assuming the 8:37 AM birth time is correct. At present, however, McCain is under two difficult aspects which may cause him some trouble. His progressed Moon opposes his 6th house Saturn (20Pisces09) and will be exact by February 19. It may be that this is impacting McCain through some health difficulties (6th house) or fatigue on the campaign trail. This very difficult aspect may cast its shadow in some way on February 5 with the transiting Moon semisquare his natal Saturn late that night. In addition, transiting Saturn is conjunct McCain’s Sun (6Virgo01) through February 13, and will also be activated by a quincunx fro transiting Moon the night of February 5. Thus, it may be that his win is not complete and he is forced to continue campaigning for the nomination longer than he would like. Saturn may tend to delay and obstruct McCain’s goals (the Sun) in some way.
Should McCain become the nominee, I foresee a great deal of difficulty for him due to transiting Saturn conjunct his natal Neptune (ruler of the 6th house) and opposing his natal Saturn (in the 6th house) beginning around October 1, 2008, through mid-February 2009. In addition, transiting Uranus will be square to his Saturn during the second half of March and early April 2008, as well as from September 2008 through early January 2009. All of this focus on the 6th house suggests some significant health problems for McCain in 2008 which may well impede his success.
Mitt Romney has been unable to produce another win since Nevada despite the massive amounts of money he has infused into his campaign. I see little to indicate much success in February, with Saturn opposing his Mars, square to his Node, and quincunx his Midheaven for much of the month. What seems likely is that the continual losses will finally force him to quit the contest some time in February. Interestingly, his life will go through a huge transformation due to a similar aspect to the one John Edwards will soon experience. Uranus will conjunct Romney’s Sun (21Pisces11) from April through August, putting him through a whirlwind of change and transformation and shifting his career focus into an entirely new direction.
