We have just entered the final year of the sordid reign of King George the Worst. A New Year’s wish might be to survive the next 12 months without further national degradation and a minimum of self-destructive acts. How far we have fallen. The infinite possibilities of blowback from the Bush administration’s previous misbegotten deeds, however, are also of great concern, for these litter the passage of the past seven years like the trash and destruction remaining after a wild party, for such it has been for those who sponsored it.
Although we may be salivating at the imminent death knell of the Bush Disaster, there is still a great deal of water that will pass under the bridge before it is over, and the planets suggest it will be a very bumpy ride, quite possibly ending on a rather dark note. There are three significant planetary configurations that will frame the duration of this presidential term, with a fourth that will obscure the difficulties for a while. The first of these is the Spring Equinox chart for 2008 (1:49 AM, March 20, 2008, Washington, DC) in which Uranus (19Pisces18) makes an exact square to the Ascendant (19Sagittarius16). This suggests sudden, upsetting, and transformative events that impact the people and the physical domain of the United States during the year-long action of the chart from March 20, 2008, through March 20, 2009. The most dramatic period will come when Uranus returns to the exact square from September 23, 2008, through early January 2009. Although this aspect may bring a kind of revolutionary fervor to the country as a final break with the fetid practices of the Bush administration hovers delectably, the addition of two further planetary signficators in 2008 suggests a potential for dangerous and highly problematic events at the end of the year.
Beginning in April 2008, just weeks after the Spring Equinox chart goes into effect, Uranus will square the US Mars (21Gemini23) where it will remain within a little over a degree through August 2008 and then head back towards the same position by late November 2008 through February 2009. This aspect suggests an increase in military action by the US and a generally more aggressive foreign policy from April through August 2008, as well as later in the year. By late July and continuing through early October 2008, it is likely there will be some great success and optimism in the US, quite possibly related to the heightened military activity. Economic indicators may also be more positive and expansive during this time.George Bush and the Republican candidate are likely to benefit, due to increasing support for administration policies at that time. One possible reading of these configurations points to an increase in military action by the US in the tribal areas of Pakistan where many are in league with al Qaida. In April and May, as well as November and December, Pluto will oppose Mars (00Cancer10) in the Pakistani chart indicating tremendous turmoil and violence in that nation.
The potential for sudden, violent activity aimed at the US and its people, however, is also a possibility under the Uranus square to US Mars, especially with the addition of the Saturn station square to US Mars and semisquare the US Node (6Leo36) in late November and December 2008 and January 2009. The prolonged and very tight nature of this Saturn aspect suggests a time of great strain for the US. Combining the stress of the Saturn transit with the Uranus square to US Mars and the activation of the Spring Equinox chart Uranus square to the Ascendant, it seems very clear that late November and December 2008 may bring some sudden, upsetting, and very problematic circumstances, including the potential for either a terrorist attack or an assassination attempt, that will have a profound and troublesome impact on the United States. Moreover, the likelihood that severe economic difficulties will be a part of the picture is suggested by the impact of the Saturn station in the charts of Henry Paulson (3/28/46), Secretary of Treasury, and Ben Bernanke (12/13/53), Federal Reserve Chairman. Thus, the more celebratory feeling of the summer may give way to some very difficult circumstances late in the year that will not only usher in the next presidency but will clearly define the devastating legacy left to us by the ill-prepared and profoundly incompetent George Bush. |
