Tarot: Gigi Miner's Ethyrial Tarot

Close the Door

by Gigi Miner
I have been participating in the fair circuit for a while now. I find that there are individuals who attend because they genuinely want to help people. I also find the occasional individual who is nothing but a grifter. These people are difficult to deal with in the spiritual community. Most light workers will offer love and light to these individuals. They will pray for them, try to be kind and loving in hopes that this will change their behaviors, and make the grifter more like them.

Human nature is fairly easy for me to predict. While many speakers tout the virtues of humanity and their inherent good, I see something quite different. My experiences have shown me that the more kindness that you show to these particular people, the more that they feed off of it, and the more that they adjust their game in order to be a better con artist. Every effort by a spiritual individual to “help” the person who is in the con business will find that their efforts are only giving fuel to the fire of the grift.

Our card this month is the King of Swords from the Ethyrial Tarot ©. This is not an easy card for many readers. The King of Swords is often depicted as a stern male figure, seeming to block the reader from furthering their journey. In the Ethyrial version of the King of Swords, we see symbols that may remind us of a particular detective from literature. This sleuth was able to pick up on subtle clues, using his intellect to deduce the goings on of the situation.

In the case of our psychic-fair grifters, they use many of the King’s of Swords powers of observation to perfect their con. They listen to the words and repeat them to the poor souls who seek out their help. They try to get an in with the other readers so as to increase their business. They will even resort to subterfuge and other ill behaviors in order to make sure that they get the upper hand at a fair or otherwise. In some ways, they are “smarter” than most of my spiritual brothers and sisters. They use their mind, the sword quality of the intellect, to make their way in this arena.

I am of the opinion that we can use fire to fight fire in this particular scenario. I know that it is not the easiest thing for a spiritual counselor to think things through rather than to feel them as our feelings play such a major role in our dealings with clients. However, I think that we as a community need to take things into our own hands in order to keep the energies from getting muddied by the self-serving individuals who frequent our journeys.

The King of Swords processes information in a very logical manner. He watches as point A leads to point B and so on. He sees the small signs that tell him when someone is using information for their own financial benefit as opposed to helping the client. Do not get me wrong. We are worth our fees. We should be paid for our efforts, as people do not value that for which they do not pay. I am not talking about those of us who actually do this for money as a secondary reason. I am talking about the con artist who uses people’s pain and searching for their own benefits.

I know that many of my fellow readers try to offer the light to these grifters. They feel that if you shine love and light long enough that the person will be affected in such a positive way that they will leave behind their wicked ways. I beg to differ. As I stated, the con artist will only use this energy to further their agenda. When we send out positive energies to a negative individual, we may actually be giving them the ability to take their con that much further. We do not often think of things in this way.

When it comes to the individuals who are knowingly doing harm, I do not think that we should offer them more energy to continue their harm, rather, I think that we should close the door on them spiritually. We need not wish them ill or do anything other than shut them out of our circle. Close the door and lock them out of the energies on which they have thus far fed. Think of it as a room down the end of a long hallway. With the doors to the other rooms open, the far room will actually receive some of the light and need not have any of its own light sources. Yes, it might be dim, but there will still be light with which to work. However, start closing the doors that run along that hallway and eventually, the room at the far end will lose all of its light. Now, it has the choice to either find its own light, or live in darkness.

This is how we may deal with such individuals. Think of it as tough love if you need to do so. In our King of Swords, we see a door, closed and locked. Our King of Swords does not leave this door open. He knows that behind it are valuables that others might steal or damage. When we are surrounded by negativity, it is not unusual for spiritual workers to be ill affected by the drain imposed by those simply feeding off the energies. If we are to continue our work with any integrity, we cannot support someone who has been proven to be anything but working in a positive manner.

I am not comfortable with many of the key phrases of the spiritual community. Perhaps this is because of the many con artists who use them for their own selfish purposes. I would like to think that we are able to communicate in some other ways that need not use catchwords or the terminology specific to this community. Perhaps that is why I try so hard in these articles to say things just a little bit differently. We have given over our specialness to the grifter. By being always wanting to be kind and do the right thing, we have let these vermin into our midst. We are the only ones who can shoo them away now. The only way to do this while preserving our integrity is to close the door.

Spring is coming, if not already upon us. New beginnings are being offered by nature, so perhaps it is time for us, the light workers to take up our own beginnings and change the way that we deal with those we have tolerated for far too long. I issue a call to arms for all light workers to join together and close the doors on the fakes and the con artists. We do not even need to know whom they are, we simply need to have the same joint effort in mind; we close the door to them, deny them our light so that they can no longer feed off of it and take advantage of the lost souls seeking guidance.

If you are one of those souls who needs help, be careful to whom you trust your readings. Many greedy individuals will tell you all the things that you need to hear, but few will tell you the truth. It is time to close the door on the energies that would steal our money and our souls. I am ready to take my stand. Are you?

Gigi Miner is a minister, ordained by the Universal Life Church, and has a Doctorate of Motivation from the same.

“One of the greatest benefits of Tarot is being able to take control of your life rather then be a victim of it,” is the motto of this professional Tarot consultant, author, and teacher, from upstate New York.

Moonlighting as an adult education instructor, Gigi brings that experience into her Tarot and writing work, helping clients and readers to find their own inner wisdom. Gigi has taught classes on tarot in regular and e-formats.

Believing that "laughter is the best medicine,” there is often a lighter tone to her teachings. When conducting an adult-education class, one of the main questions she asks is, "Are you having fun?” If the answer is "yes" then she knows that her students are learning more then if she were teaching in a more traditional mode.

Gigi has written articles for various newsletters, including Tarot Celebrations, World Tarot Network, and Gateway to Tarot. She has released a book entitled, “Light-of-Day Tarot & Dream Work,” which is available at www.lulu.com/ladyfogg.
