She has years of truth ahead of you. Her eyes can quicken you like a river heading toward the rapids. Open yourself with love, not with understanding. You cannot love with your mind. Listen from your heart. If a camel is walking down a path and another camel passes him, the first camel will go faster to keep up. This is how power works. Don’t learn everything with your mind. Quicken your spirit by letting go of attachments and move to a stronger vibration of power.”

TEACHING:
DWhen I was in the Australian Outback with Ginevee, an Aboriginal woman of high degree, she took me out into the desert as the sun began to set. There were large clumps of spinifex grass everywhere and we had to walk carefully. Spinifex has very sharp points and will give you a healthy rip if you are not careful.
We hadn’t gone far when the earth began to rumble. Ginevee stopped suddenly and motioned me to crouch down quickly behind some spinifex as a cloud of red dust moved our way. To my astonishment, out of that red cloud trotted two of the largest, snorting bull camels I have ever seen. They were wild and magnificent and they appeared to be very dangerous.
“Wild bulls,” Ginevee whispered. “There must be others nearby. Especially the bulls will go crazy sometimes and can even kill you. That doesn’t happen often. It’s best to be careful.”
I hadn’t even known there were camels in Australia, and now I found myself trapped between marauding clumps of pointy spinifex grass and a herd of wild camels! After they passed and I stood up to brush myself off, I noticed that my arm was bleeding and burned sharply.
“You have cut yourself on the spinifex, my daughter,” Ginevee said. “Sit. I will quicken you.”
“What do you mean, ‘quicken me’?” I asked. Ginevee looked at me pointedly.
“You can never really teach anyone about these things, but if you look into my eyes, you will catch up with me a little. I have many years ahead of you. I will quicken you like a river heading toward the rapids.”
“I don’t understand,” I said, looking into her eyes. They were like dark pools reflecting the crimson from the sky.
“I don’t want you to understand. You cannot love with your mind. You will listen from your heart.” She touched my chest with her knuckles. “If a camel is walking down a path and another camel passes him, the first camel will go faster to keep up. That is how we work. I don’t want you to learn anything; I want your spirit to quicken, to keep up with me.”
In many ways, this experience with Ginevee reminds me of what is going on with all of us today. We live in a world that has speeded up so fast that it often seems to be spiraling out of control. We are working harder and harder, for less and less in return. Even as our technology graces our lives with new and awe-inspiring wonders, our economies are in shambles across the globe and our infrastructures are collapsing. We have the ability to communicate with everybody on this planet, and language is no longer the barrier it was a hundred years ago. Yet we are at war in so many places on this earth. It is like being caught between a herd of wild camels and a six-foot high clump of spinifex grass.
Ginevee took my arm, smeared some blood on her finger, and then held it to her heart. The burning from the cut began to connect to my heart in some mysterious way. Ginevee’s eyes looked through me. She did not blink. I was lost in an ocean of noise that had begun to circulate wildly through my system. My pulse rate increased, and I began having vision after vision, one more horrible than the next. I don’t know how long we sat there, but suddenly I realized it was dark and the moon was shining full and bright. What had happened to the sunset? I wondered.
“Do you feel the big speed in your blood?” Ginevee asked. “It is good to speed your blood.”
“What do you mean, Ginevee?”
“Your blood tells me of your many lives on this earth. Your history is in your blood. When I make you go fast, I am working with your past and I am clearing away whatever monsters I find. You will not see those monsters again.”
We can’t all go to Australia to look in the eyes of a woman of high degree and have our blood quickened, but you can certainly look in the mirrors of your life and quicken your spirit. That is what Ginevee was actually showing me how to do, she was showing me how to quicken my spirit by helping me to see clearly all of the things that were holding me back, all of the “monsters” that I was carrying within my psyche.
Most of the time, it is we who are standing in our own way, not that clump of tall pointy grass or a scary economy. We cling to old addictions and then wonder why we are not getting anywhere. Better yet, we choose to ‘not function’ at our best, sometimes not at all. What is it that you are trying to accomplish by not functioning? All you are really doing is blocking your own abilities in life. How far is that going to get you?
What do I mean by ‘quickening’? Let me answer that by asking another question: What is it that is slowing you down and holding you back? When you look at what is holding you back with open eyes and an honest heart, you see that it isn’t the economy or war or anything else that is going on in your world. It is you, holding onto old ways and old beliefs that no longer serve you. When you let go of them, you become quickened. When you place your faith in the Great Spirit and the highest good in life, letting go of doubt and neediness, you become quickened.
In many ways, the crazy world we are living in is mirroring back to us all of the possibilities that life holds and asking us, if not now, when? How long has it been since humankind has felt such an urgency? Grab onto that urgency and let it energize you. There is nothing you can’t accomplish in this world today. You can choose to remain scared and complacent if you like, just know that it’s you doing it to yourself and not any of the struggles that are afoot in the world.
2009 is truly a time of spiritual quickening. You came here to learn something in this lifetime. Meditate on what that is now and be quickened; don’t wait another moment. Have faith in the Great Spirit and be quickened.
Know that there is a greater plan for your life. The time to discover it is now. Identify what is failing for you and slowing you down and stop giving it all of your power. When you stop fixating on the world outside of yourself, you will go into your own center and find your stronger vibration of power.

Prayer
Oh Great Mother, as I look out across the desert, green from rain, and see the mountains in the distance, I ask that you guide me along my path of heart. I ask that you help me to understand my powers of creativity.
As the clouds above me cast shadows on the desert floor, I know that I have often lost my way, and when the shadow aspects of myself diminish my life, I become afraid. Oh Great Mother, take my hand. Help me to see to see the trail, so that I may find my way home.
Sometimes I think I will be bereft of balance forever, that there is no one to help me. But as I look at the great mountains in the distance, as their silhouette is etched against the sky with such clarity, I know that somewhere in my heart I have known such clarity before, and that you are there for me. It is only I who sometimes refuse to see you.
I will open my eyes now, and I will see your face, just as the sunlight bursting through the clouds illuminates the flowers all around me. I will begin to shine as they do. I am flowering for you, Great Mother. I am lending my beauty to the universe for a short time, and I realize that this life is a process of seed and stalk, growth and flowering, then death. But death is only a rebirth back into spirit, a rebirth back into life. And you may call me anytime Great Spirit, back into your arms.
So I am here for you, Great Mother, Great Spirit. I am like a hollow log with your love and energy flowing through me forever. Help me to walk in beauty and power all the days of my life. HO!
