Although she is renowned internationally for her exceptional psychic abilities, Valerie Morrison is a modest and gracious woman. Valerie assists police nationwide, and has solved many of the more infamous missing person cases and crimes. This is the Psychic that solved the notorious" Son of Sam" case. Although she claims her rate of accuracy is only 85 %, her track record of "direct hits," as her husband Charles puts it, is nothing less than astounding. To her, people are people, her gift is from GOD and to be used lovingly for all. Yet, for all her talent and fame, she is down to earth and totally unpretentious. When you first meet her, you immediately feel an extremely powerful, yet soothing energy surrounding her. And so begins our 2 part interview with one of the most gifted and respected Psychics. We refer to this loving and Carring soul as the "Psychic's Psychic", Valerie Morrison.
The Meta Arts: When did you realize your gift? Was there a specific age, or event?
Valerie Morrison: Actually, when I was 5 years old, I remember it distinctly. My Grandfather was a great Psychic-he was another Edgar Cayce. He would do readings, and I would sit by his feet, while my mother worked, (my father had died). One day I went upstairs to take a nap, and all of a sudden I felt all this heaviness coming on top of me. There were coats. There were people throwing coats on top of me.
The Meta Arts: Coats?
Valerie Morrison: Coats! And so I got up out of bed and I saw my aunt Helen, who was relatively young, she was about 40. I started screaming because she was right there, but she was as white as a sheet and smelled like flowers. Lots of flowers. She started coming towards me and I did not like the way she looked. I just screamed and screamed, and my grandfather came running up the stairs and I said " Aunt Helen's Dead! Aunt Helen's Dead!" She did in fact, die. But that was my first. It was a bad experience.
The Meta Arts: You were fortunate in that you had a family that understood these things, knew you had an experience, and did not try to make you think it was something bad, and not to talk about it.
Valerie Morrison: That happens to too many children. Children are very psychic in our age. Most children have it taken out of them by saying " Oh you are just having a nightmare- you really didn't really see Grandpa. Grandpa's dead." " Of course they saw Grandpa!
The Meta Arts: And how about the parents have children that begin to talk about their past lives? Like the little kid who says "Ma, we didn't do this back in Missouri," and the mother, totally shocked says, "Junior, we never lived in Missouri."
Valerie Morrison: I had a case, where a young boy, 4 years old, who was visiting me with his parents, and we were talking about psychic stuff said, "Do you remember mommy, when we crashed in the plane?" And his mother said, we never crashed in a plane!" And the boy said, "Yes we did." Now, keep in mind, this was a 4 year old boy. He then said, " Coopersberg". Then the mother asked , "What about Coopersbeg? He then said, "On that big flat rock."
Well, I found out, years later, there is a big flat rock, in Coopersberg, and small planes fly over it. But the boy continued to say, "Everybody was killed. But you weren't my mommy and that wasn't my daddy." The mother then said" What are you talking about?" I knew the child was talking about a past life experience. He went on to say" Only the dog lived. There was blood everywhere." Later, as he grew older, I had tried to take him back, but he could not go back- regress.
The Meta Arts: How do you describe yourself? A Psychic, a Sensitive, a Channel?
Valerie Morrison: No, I don't like the word "Channel." I don't like Channel because it is something that came in with a lot of people who are phoney. I am very big in Hollywood, and I among many people who make a lot of movies, and please understand, I am not bragging, people are people to me- but I have seen the Channelers of the world. After they make a lot of money, they buy 3 or 4 big homes, and then, they leave the business. How do you tun it off ? So I don't like the word Channel.
I know many people use it . I would not put them down for it. If they feel comfortable with it, that's fine. But, I don't. I don't even like the words "Spirit Guides", to be honest with you. I like the words "Spirits" or that "Spirits" are with you. That your grandmother, grandfather, mother- whoever, can be with you at any time, so I would rather say, "there's a spirit with you." But I don't like the word Guide. I don't know why, but I don't want anyone to guide me- I want them to lead me.
(Hysterical laughter from the 3 of us.) Someone who leads the way.
The Meta Arts: So what do you like to be called?
Valerie Morrison: Just a Psychic, actually. Psychic in Greek means "Soul", so that's fair enough. We have our "Soul Use." We are using our Souls to help others, and I would only say that the true Psychic, uses this gift of the soul. We see a lot that are coming up now, that are just doing this for minor amounts of money- say, $30, $40... $50 and they really don't know what they are doing. They just read a book, they do the Tarot cards.
Tarot cards are wonderful cards to use, but you can't just read a book on them. You have to look at them, and see each card is going to mean something different. You can't just go by what the book says. How do you get a name? For instance, you turn a card over, and you get a name "Robert" and he has light hair. Well, that would be true- you have light hair because he is a light page. But how do you get the name Robert- unless you are Psychic?
So, they are just a tool. If you are using it as a tool, Tarot Cards are wonderful. If it makes the client comfortable, that's wonderful. If it makes you more comfortable, that's wonderful, because you are just giving them your psychic, and just calming the client down. But when you get into other instruments, you have to be very careful. I disagree with many things in the Psychic world. I just believe that GOD gives you this gift to use. You may have used it hundreds of times, in many lifetimes, and it comes back stronger and stronger. But it is not a tool to be used as a game. You don't fool around with Mother Nature. There is an old expression"GOD always forgives, but Mother Nature never does."
How do you pick up your information? Do you see, hear...?Where does it actually come from?
Valerie Morrison: Very good. I get that question on television, alot. I say, "Sometimes I feel, smell, hear.... they are all of your senses that you use." They will come in different ways. Now, you may sit here and a plane commercial comes on the television. And then, all of sudden, I'll say there will be a plane crash within 72 hours. It maybe just a nice, TV commercial with an airplane in it. But for some reason, for that moment, it clicks.
I think that there are signs all around us of things that will happen. I just think I use all of my senses, and am more sensitive to other people's feelings. By being more sensitive, and I am a "toucher", I can't sit just across a desk from someone, if they get upset or hurt, I will reach over and hold their hand, turn off the tape- if they feel embarrassed and, say, " I cry, you cry too, it's allright." It's important to let them know that you love them, and sometimes, even walk around the desk and hold them. That is the important thing that I don't see in a lot of Psychics today and that's what we need more of. If I were teaching them, and one day, I would love to do some seminars on that. Just to help them and say "Don't be afraid to touch and feel" and tell them -maybe you have been there once.
A lost love. Now, what is that? It is like a death. You know people come to me and say "Oh, I feel awful," and I say " Well, you have had a death." Death comes in many ways. It comes in the loss of a lover, a the loss of a friend, someone who moves far away- even you moving. All these things are deaths, as they are all transformations.
The Meta Arts: Over the past 20 years, I have come to you, from time to time, for readings. To me, you are the "Psychic's Psychic," and I know you do read quite a few of us. But one thing that has always struck me, is that you are gut level honest, and sometimes the truth can hurt, but you get it across with incredible "Loving Gentility." What I want to know, is where does that ability and sensitivity come from?
Valerie Morrison: Well, I suppose, once again, I would have to go back to my grandfather. My grandfather never judged race, creeds, sex..or if they were gay or straight, which was odd for those times. But he never did, and he always held things in confidence. I learned from him.
My grandfather would say, "There is a man who has no legs. Is he disabled? No, he is not disabled. Who is disabled, Valerie? I would say the man who has no heart is the one disabled. Therefore, when we think of us as disabled, when we are missing an arm, or cannot walk, or blind, we are not disabled. It is the person who can't love, who can't give, or who can't forgive, or talk things out with you. They are the disabled people.
But I am very honest- you know that, you have been here. If your husband is cheating on you, don't come here...because I am going to tell you. If your girlfriend is cheating, I'm going to tell you. But the difference is- I touch, and I am sensitive and care about their feelings, and it is the way I tell them.
The Meta Arts: But how do you handle the situation of when a client comes to you, and you see that there is, say, a medical propblem, that they are not aware of. How do you get that across to them, without sCarring them?
Valerie Morrison: I handle that a little differently. I'll say to them, "You seem not be be up to par lately." And, they'll say "No, I have been very tired lately." Then I'll say" It's time to get some bloodwork done, I'd like to see you get that done, before it can become anything serious." In that way, I've gotten them to look into it.
Many times, women bring their husbands here, I read the same amount of men, as I do women, and the wife will call me, thanking me, because they went to the doctor, and nipped something in the bud. But I will word it in such a way - and you have to be careful here- "I do not know all. Only GOD knows all. But I do feel you may have something brewing in there- probably nothing bad- but you I would like you to get it checked."
