World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day 2003 Unfolds Across the World.
by Bill Douglas

At a time when the world is endlessly terrorized with the threat of war, a peaceful healing wave of goodwill will unfold across our troubled planet. As the 2003 World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day event begins quietly in New Zealand and then unfolds like a blooming rose of humanity across 50 nations and 6 continents.

The events are becoming massive with over 1,000 expected to play T'ai Chi together in Hong Kong and Los Angeles, 800 in Venezuela, 600 in Trinidad West Indies, and tens of thousands in 500 cities worldwide.

T'ai Chi and Qigong's ancient healing technologies accomplish healing by engaging the mind and body in techniques designed to unlock our psyche from old patterns that we hold in our tense minds and bodies. This allows the power of life energy to flow through us, so we can constantly re-create a new greater reality of physical health, mental hope, and life possibilities.

Today the world desperately needs this. Our world is locked down on a dwindling system of fossil fuel production, that in coming years will peak and diminish, causing fuel costs to sky rocket. Solutions abound in hydrogen fuel, solar cells, and wind technology, but we can't seem to make the leap. Today, in America we spend more money on the military to protect Mid-East oil fields than is actually made off the oil. Therefore, to shift to a clean energy, cheap energy, hydrogen fuel cell economy could not only solve our economic problems, but our environmental challenges.

But again, we can't make the shift because our national and international "body" can't unlock from the stressful grip of the way "things have always been." T'ai Chi and Qigong can help humanity breathe into, and relax into, a myriad of healing ways to solve our global problems, just as the techniques help us relax into greater health and personal creativity.

This creativity and health enhancement quality of T'ai Chi & Qigong explains why many major corporations now use it, and why modern health networks have incorporated it into many aspects of health care. It is being used in prison reform and education at all levels to prevent and reduce drug abuse, violence, and mental health problems.

20,000 Americans commit suicide each year, mostly due to depression. T'ai Chi & Qigong can help with depression, anxiety, and mood disorder, as well as sleep disorders and ADD which can aggravate depression. So, suicide is a "real" threat to people. T'ai Chi and Qigong is a peaceful powerful weapon that can help reduce this problem, in many ways.

T'ai Chi & Qigong not only positively affect our bio-chemistry, but they give us a feeling of empowerment in a world that can seem out of control. By learning to positively impact our moods and physical health, we create a dynamic that can help us feel more powerful in the world. We can become more socially activated, trying to address the community or social problems that affect us all. This empowerment is therapeutic in and of itself. We can create an expanding spiral of empowerment that can help us feel more connected, and less victimized by a world out of
control.

But more than that, it can change the world. The world we see is the one we dream. By realizing our own empowerment, the world will begin to change around us as we act as though we are empowered and we demand of our community and nation healing paths for our future. Such as natural health promotion, and hydrogen fuel conversion, to name but two. Hopeful possibilities abound in our lives, we need only open our minds and hearts to them.

T'ai Chi & Qigong's soothing directives allow the body to open to life energy, the heart to open to hope and compassion, and the mind to expand in undreamt possibilities for our future. World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day 2003 will spread a global qigong/tai chi movement across the planet. On this day Arabs and Israelis, Americans and French, will play together with peoples from the four corners of our precious planet. It will be a beautiful day.
