Astrologer's Notes:
On Planting Radishes In December
by Diana Stone
Dateline July 2003. In my last column I wrote a piece about a couple whose wedding fell on a day that was a horror from an astrological perspective. I itemized a long list of unfortunate events that beset the couple on this wedding day from hell. The obvious point was that many of our activities would benefit from synchronizing the start or "birth" of an important undertaking with a propitious astrological time and date. In this column I just have to share a reader's comment and my answer. Since we are on the subject of election, or timed, charts lets make it a triple-header. In my next month's column I will give astrologers some technical guidelines for erecting election charts. Stay tuned.

One reader of my column wrote that she was "sorry to hear that I don't anticipate 'happily ever after here'" (the closing line of the earlier piece). She suggested that "with humor and a charmed attitude a committed couple could use the life experience I listed to form a great and lasting bond." She went on to say that she hoped the couple's friends and family were able to "bless them, support them, etc. etc." and ended with "…all powerful spiritual stuff."

Well, I am probably as spiritual as the next guy and I cannot disagree with those lofty sentiments. I, too, hope for the best. One way to do that is to utilize the tools that we have to express spirit with as much intelligence as possible. I, for one, do not believe in building character by seeing how hard I can make things for myself. Life is challenging enough just by its very nature. Astrology gives everyone the opportunity to synchronize their activities with the best-timed cycle. If they do not avail themselves of this powerful tool, well, that is doing life the hard way. Despite Herculean efforts, good humor, blessings of friends and earnest praying, we humans will not repeal the great forces of nature. Radishes do not grow well in the snow.

The article, of course, was my light-hearted way of making the point that astrology can have a helpful role in our earthly endeavors. To those who wish to build character by planting their vegetable gardens in December I hope that with" humor and a charmed attitude" your commitment will lead to a great salad.
