Mars in Pisces
Spiritual Warrior or Helpless Victim
|
|
|

|
As I write this, scientists from the Mars Society are attending a conference in Eugene, Oregon to study the possibility of human colonization of the fourth planet from the Sun. This group is studying caves on earth as potential habitat corresponding to the caves of Mars.
Is it Just me or.?
It is not surprising that Mars is the center of attention in the scientific community just now. But what might this mean to you this very day? You mean you haven't noticed that everyone around you is bouncing off the walls, communication is turned on its head, people are losing their cool, romantic relationships are on the rocks, everyone needs Prozac, and if they are not depressed they are mad as hell about being manipulated, used and abused. They just aren't going to take it anymore.
This promises to be a long, hot summer before the sky patterns get themselves sorted out. Most of you who are reading this are probably spiritually matured to the point that you are maintaining your composure. But in case you want to pass this along to your lesser evolved brothers and sisters, here is some information that might help them out.
Ready for a little Astrology?
I may be the only astrologer on the planet that has not already written about Mars and the fact that it is closer to Earth than it has been since homo sapiens were gathering berries and living in caves. That's 60-70,000 years ago, a long time. If you want to see this rare sight, go look at the night sky. Mars rises in the east. Look for it blazing away by the Moon just after nightfall. Mars glows red.
It reached perihelion on August 27-28, however it will make its spectacular presence known both before and after those peak dates. I used the word "perihelion" to impress you that I am an astrologer and know stuff like this. It simply means that the planet is at its closest distance to a particular body in space.
Can any good come of this? If you play your cards right and catch on to this game of "Lets make a Deal" you just might wade through the cosmic tar to discover that you have dropped some baggage from your life that should have been history a loooog time ago. This gets tricky though. No cheating. You have to be dealing with SOMETHING. What is it that is bugging you? Now it is time to go internal and do some housecleaning.
Don't just stand there.do SOMETHING!
There may be some really big issues that just keep cropping up. Why don't you ever have enough money? Can't find your career niche? Or maybe you need to do a house purge and get rid of the clutter. Why don't relationships ever work out? Maybe your lifestyle could use a 3000 mile check-up. Whatever it is, do something. That is the message from Mars. It is the planet of taking action on your own behalf. We won't get a shot at this cycle again until well beyond your great-grandchildren's lifetimes.
What kind of timing are we dealing with?
So when is this over? If you get a migraine when astrologers talk in astrologese you can skip this part. Not only is Mars the closest to the earth that it ever gets, it also observed its retrograde cycle until September 27th. Planets are like cars. They can slow down, stop, shift gears and go backwards. That is retrograde motion. Everyone goes freaking out over Mercury retrograde. That is fairly frequent and usually not as lethal as it's reputed to be. But Mars, that is a different matter. This is the planet of "get-up-and-go-forward." When it is retrograde, it is like driving with the brakes on. Tempers flare.
There are some other planets that join in this cosmic St. Vitus dance. Speaking of Mercury, its retrograde cycle August 29th to September 20th. overlapped part of the time with Mars's reversed direction. These are not times to move forward or to even see the road ahead very clearly. Avoid surgery, signing contracts, incorporating a business and many other activities during such times. Consult your local astrologer.
Saturn achieved its every 29-year perihelion on July 26th. That's not all. There is more reason to observe this as significant beyond what we have seen so far. Mars is traveling through Pisces right now and in simple terms is engaging many other planets clustered in that sign and it's complementary opposite sign, Virgo.
The end of August staged a spectacular drama with the culmination of a rare Sun-Mars-Uranus configuration. Even the most patient and peace loving of souls may be moved to some confrontational and aggressive behavior.
You may not know what a void-of-course Moon is but they proliferated in August-long ones. Those are periods of deadness when things grind to a halt. (I hope you backed up your computer files!)
That is probably enough to convince you that the energies swirling through us all during August and September are just plain weird and throw us into extraordinary influences that are unpredictable, delayed and convoluted. As we head into October and the remainder of 2003 you need to have a game plan incorporating the new agenda that upset your bushel basket. "Getting back to normal" is not an option.
Ready for some friendly advice?
Final words of advice? Don't look at me! I'm swimming in this soup right along with you. However, here are some guidelines. Keep your cool in family and close relationships. Things that flare up calm down sooner or later. Don't push it. Keep arms length in all your dealings. This is not a good time to negotiate disagreements. Don't take yourself too seriously. You are not at your best decision-making place. Postpone what you can until later.
This is a time to cleanse and heal your own life. Tend to your own business. Pisces is about sacrifice, service and the savior complex. Pisces is the life of the Spirit. Mars is about taking action to care for your own needs. It is the warrior. If you are victimized, it is your own inner pattern that needs to be healed. Many of you are service providers, healers and counselors. Save yourself first. The world can wait. There is no honor in the dead hero.
Mars enters Aries on December 16, 2003. Then we go lightly racing forward with wings on our heels now freed from the iron horseshoes that held us in old prisons.
