The Wiccan Way: From Fyre's Mail Bag |

Blessed be
This month's article is dedicated to my mail bag. Since my Astronet days. I have received endless emails from clients, friends asking about Wicca, paganism, choosing one's path and of course asking for readings or just one question to be answered.
Reading over my mail today. I decided I would start selecting a few from each month and answer them here. Perhaps you will see a situation similar to one you have.
***** Hello Fyre,
Does everyone have a soul mate?
Absolutely, There are many different theories on soul mates. Some readers believe we have Multiple soul mates. We have soul mates for all areas of our lives. Teachers, friends, lovers, coworkers. These are individuals who here to help us grow as we mature into the people we are meant to be. I have a different take on this issue. I feel we have but one Soul mate. One pure soul that is made for us. A Soul mate is someone for whom you have this connection that surpassing reality. A soul that has traveled through countless lives to reconnect to your soul. This would be your friend and your lover. You would have a history that goes beyond this life to a realm of past lives.
*****Dear Fyre
What is the difference between Soul mates and Twin Souls?
A twin soul is someone you are too much like. Someone for whom you are connected like pea and carrots (grin) This would be your best friend, your Mom, ever that teacher would took the time to really get to know you and help you on your path. Soul mates aren't perfect. They fight and debate and make up like twin souls. But Twin souls are easier to maintain, because they are rarely lovers. Therefore that intense emotion isn't there to confuse pure friendship.

I wanted to say, I have enjoyed your articles on The Meta Arts site. I have always felt drawn to the goddess path. I wanted to know about traditions and how to choose the right one to follow. Can you help me decide?
Hi
Listed below is are a few I am familiar with.
Gardnerian Tradition: This originated in England, by Gerald Gardner in the 1950s although he claimed that it was based on ancient teaching imparted to him by hereditary witches as it had been practiced in secret for centuries. Gardner, determined that the Old Religion should not die out, publicized it through the media along with his almost equally famous high priestess, Doreen Valiente (author of the infamous "Charge of the Goddess"). Gardnerian Wicca is based strongly on the dynamic of the God energy and the Goddess energy and is extremely ceremonial in nature. Magickal work is traditionally done with a coven of 13 which must consist of a high priest and a high priestess. There are several traditions that are based on Gardnerian principles.
Hereditary Witch: This is your path, if you can trace the Craft back in your family tree and was also taught the craft by a living relative.
Dianic: Two traditions currently operate under the title "Dianic." The first is the WitchCult in Western Europe, tracked back to Margaret Murray in 1921. The second, which may be an off-shoot of the first if also referred to as "Feminist Wicca". It is a mix of many traditions, but its focus is on the Goddess.
Kitchen Witch: This type is one that practices by home and hearth concentrating on the practical side of religion and magick. Traditionally uses charms, healing herbs and other "tangible" methods of magick. Also usually strongly female oriented.
Eclectic Witch: This is where a person doesn't follow any particular tradition or magickal practice. They learn and study from a multitude of Magickal systems and apply what appears to work best for them. They may work as solitaires or with groups or covens and no particular rites of initiation or specific learning's are required.
I am an Eclectic, which means I am a kitchen witch who practices a solitary existence of the Dianic tradition.

This Months recipe
Fried Dumplings
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1 cup finely chopped bok choy
1 medium carrot, shredded (1/2 cup)
2 tablespoons thinly sliced green onion
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 pound lean ground beef
1/4 cup rice vinegar or white vinegar
1/4 cup soy sauce
For dough, combine flour, the 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 2/3 cup boiling water in a medium mixing bowl, stirring constantly with a fork. Add 1/4 cup cold water; mix with your hands until dough forms a ball. (The dough will be sticky.) Cover; set aside. For filling, stir together soy sauce and cornstarch in a medium mixing bowl. Stir in bok choy, carrot, green onion, and the 1/4 teaspoon salt. Add ground beef; mix well. Using about 1 tablespoon of the filling for each, shape filling into 30 balls. Set aside. Divide dough in half. Return one portion to the bowl; cover and set aside. Divide the other portion into 15 balls. On a well-floured surface, roll each dough ball into a 3-inch circle. Place a meatball in the center of each circle. Fold the dough up and around all but the top of the meatball, pleating dough firmly. Gently flatten the bottom of each dumpling. Repeat with remaining dough and meatballs to make 30 dumplings total. Prepare Sauce pan with oil. Heat and deep fry Dumplings until golden brown. >>
