Kristi Huggins, known as Mirabai to the online community, moved to WA State 5 years ago on a "whim". The first person she met was Linda Glendenning, owner of Cove Crystals, who placed the very first crystal in Kristi's hand, thus beginning her love and passion for the crystal community.

Has spent the last 5 years in ongoing self-study of crystals, minerals and stones in the metaphysical, spiritual and healing modalities.
Created MoonCave Crystals 2 years ago to share love of crystals with online community.

It can be used to cleanse and stimulate the heart and solar plexus chakras, bringing openess and acceptance in the intellectual pursuit of matters of love and relationships. Questions, Answers and Opinions

by Mirabai

The "work" I do constantly challenges me. Each day I share information with others and receive information from others to assist me in this world I have entered…that of our crystal friends. There are always those questions, which are asked of me on a daily basis, so these are the questions I share with you here. Hopefully, they will assist you in some way, or at the least, challenge you to formulate your own answers using the crystals as your guides. These are what I have found to be true for me.

The most frequently asked question and perhaps my favorite, as it always gives me a giggle is: Does size matter??

In a word….NO. The idea when using any stone/crystal is either to raise, stabilize, or ground ones own energy. The vibrational energy is the same no matter the size of the stone/crystal being used. So in this case, for me at least, bigger does not mean better.

One has to wonder how comfortable a client may be in a healing session with a two-pound crystal sitting on their chest!! I have even seen healers use larger and heavier pieces and I have to ask myself…why??
So, it is truly all in personal preference. If you feel you need a larger stone/crystal to take on a larger issue, then that is perfectly ok for you. I merely suggest to think of where that idea came from in the first place as it may be a personal issue that needs addressing, instead of a crystal one.

Is there a "best shape" to have available when utilizing a crystal for healing and/or personal work?

I have two that appeal to me. The double terminated crystal and the sphere.

I really do like the double terminated configuration as it assists in an energy flow in both directions, which to me, is a more constant and even distribution of the energy/vibration.
The same goes for the spherical shape, whose continuous flow of energy/vibration assists in the healing process. Unlike a single terminated crystal, whose energy will flow in the direction it is pointed, the sphere keeps the flow going in a circular motion for maximum effect.

I don't have either of those in my collection just yet. Any suggestions?
Absolutely! You can use a single terminated clear quartz crystal positioned at the feet, with the point facing the soles of the feet and another single terminated clear quartz crystal at the top of the head, with the point facing up and away from the crown chakra. Then place whatever crystals you want to work with on the chakras or areas of concern on the body. This also allows an energy flow most conducive to healing work.

I am just starting my collection. Are there any "must haves" I need?

I always recommend eleven pieces to start any collection. Tumbled stones are a perfect way to start for several reasons. They are small enough to hold in ones hand and get a feel for the energies. They are inexpensive and usually easy enough to find. And most importantly, they sit nicely on the body and without any discomfort.

Hematite-
Grounding and Balance

Smoky Quartz-Grounds spiritual energy and neutralizes negative energies

Red Garnet-
Energizes physical body

Carnelian--
Creativity

Citrine-Abundance, protection, spiritual growth

Bloodstone-Energy Cleanser, detoxifier

Green Aventurine
-Especially healing of mind and body

Angelite or Celestite--Spiritual Guidance, Communication, Connecting to highest self

Amethyst-Balance,
Healing and Positive Transformation

Rose Quartz-- Stone of gentle love, peace, calming, nurturing, balances emotions, heals emotional wounds

Clear Quartz--
Quartz is a programmable stone and amplifies the properties of any crystal in its vicinity.

So many crystals, so many properties. Is there an easier way to determine what is needed??

Sure!! As a practitioner of the KISS method (Keep It Simple Spiritually-Thanks Diane!!) the simplest method is color, using the most frequently accepted and commonly taught seven chakras and the area they reside in on the body.

For instance, fertility issues are associated with the root chakra and the color red. The Solar Plexus houses our emotional well being (third chakra) so yellow would be applicable here. If you are having communication issues, lack of clarity when speaking, or even fear of speaking (throat-fifth chakra) pick a nice blue stone/crystal to assist. Not only is the method simple and foolproof, but it will also assist you in learning and expanding, as you feel ready to do so.

My crystals keep cracking or breaking. I must have some powerful energy, right?

"Crystals are reminders from the Divine that we are not alone. They are both examples and partners of our struggles to achieve balance, wholeness and serenity. Their growth from dense bedrock to greater and greater transparency mirrors our own desire to be light givers. To be so emptied of fear and doubt that there is nothing to hinder the pure light of unselfish love. Because crystals are neutral tools, which reflect only what is in our hearts, they can amplify negativity and thus hasten self-destruction OR magnify compassion and speed mutual growth. The choice is ours." Author Unknown
