Living With Your Intuitive Child:
A New Year for Parents and Intuitive Children
|
|
 |
by Sherry Healy |
|
|
This New Year promises to bring about a continuation of helpful sources for parents of intuitive children. It seems that intuitive learning and communications are finally being recognized by the main stream media and educators. Bookstores, websites, schools and youth professionals are gathering and presenting informative methodologies dedicated to raising and educating the intuitive child.
Just recently hoards of books have been written about intuitive children. These books include, The Care and Feeding of Indigo Children by Doreen Virtue and Jan Tober, Indigo Children by Lee Carroll and Jan Tober, The Crystal Children: A Guide to the Newest Generation of Psychic and Sensitive Children by Doreen Virtue, Millennium Children: Tales of the Shift by Caryl Dennis, and hundreds more titles. Parents can easily locate resources presenting supportive and essential information.
And in addition, we are beginning to see schools that understand the intuitive learner. Institutions such as Waldorf schools, http://medlem.spray.se/thefreebee/waldorf/ , are beginning to attract intuitive children, from around the country, giving parents of intuitive children a fresh avenue of which to educate in a free spirited environment that caters to the intelligent and creative child. No longer are parents of intuitives forced to sit and watch hopelessly as their intuitive child underachieves in the traditional school system.
A hoard of website such as, The Meta Arts Magazine, are finding that readers are regularly and frequently seeking and sharing information about the many happenings of the intuitive child. The internet, one of the most prolific of resources for parents with intuitive learners, is expanding daily. So, this year, parents can expect even more growth and innovative resources coming from all types of resources. Begin by looking for easy-to-read books geared toward the intuitive reader and learner.
Confident Child written by me, (sHEALy) Sherry Healy, is a prime example of a simple-to-read book with a message to the intuitive child, allowing him to listen to his inner voice and honor his natural born intuition. I wrote Confident Child, A Tale and Affirmations, last year, in the hopes that it would find itself in the hands of intuitive children. It is my belief that intuitive children learn differently than other children and feel more confident and optimistic when they are encouraged to learn by listening to their own inner voice. In Confident Child, the main character attempts to find his way through daily events and runs into problems when he does not listen to his intrinsic knowledge. Finally, after a few scraps, he remembers an inner message and begins to listen to his own intuitive thoughts. Then, he learns to take care of himself. The story ends with Confident Child feeling confident, safe and wiser.
Another great book for the intuitive learner is Maurice Sendak's, Where the Wild Things Are. This book, without plainly giving a direct moral message, helps the intuitive reader to imagine and utilize his reasoning skills. Intuitive learners love to look for and discover the personal value of a good story. Often they are more excited about a lesson when the main idea is left to their imagination. So, any book that unfolds with excitement or a little mystery is a good read for the insightful child.
My favorites, this coming year, of all the intuitive wonders are the self-healing and self-knowing spiritualities that are becoming more child-friendly. Finally, parents are finding introducing their children to child-safe yoga, meditation, reiki, acupressure, chanting and nature centered celebrations. And, children are learning to look within their own selves when seeking answers or direction. They are developing a confidence in their own wisdom and strength of character that far exceeds children of past years. When practicing yoga, a child learns to be still and listen to his body. When meditating, a child learns to look within his own heart and see what emotions, thoughts and feeling exist. When using reiki, a child learns to trust the Universe to heal. And in addition, he learns to expect self healing. When chanting, he learns to listen and enjoy his own voice and the voice of others. He learns to appreciate friendship and group activities. And, he learns to expect life to be fun and joyous. When practicing any alternative healing method, he learns to expect and look for the best in himself and others. And when he celebrates nature, he learns that he is small compared to the greatness of the Universe. He learns to respect and honor the earth, the planets, solar system and life.
Intuitive children need to seek and know these experiences. And through hands-on experimentation of alternative healing and spiritual methods, they feel satisfied; they get to see that which they suspect exists beyond their gaze. A recent study suggests that innovative parents introducing young children to alternative spiritualities and healing methods, experience less stress in the home and school environment. These families tend to seek methods that suite their own personal needs instead of straining under traditional and often restrictive methods. The children of these innovative families, often learn more, experience a happier childhood and develop better relationships. Over all, the once alternative methods that are now surfacing in the lives of the main stream promise to offer the upcoming year a needed advantage.
Through books, experts, celebrations and other innovative methods, this year brings about information that will help the intuitive child and his parent to embrace the intuitive learning experience. Finally, the intuitive learner is being recognized and allowed to learn and live to his fullest capacity.
This year we can expect
.
1. Expect family oriented movies filled with a message of afterlife, compassion of nature and intuitive insights.
2. Expect academic programs that allow children to learn concept over memorized facts.
3. Expect religious institutions to enhance their programs with more emotion based materials.
4. Expect community programs to inspire children to know better their inner voice.
5. Expect comparative religions and culture to become a greater part of private school curriculums.
6. Expect to hear about scientific studies and research concerning the intuitive learner.
7. Expect findings that suggest autism to be linked to chemicals found in foods.
8. Expect laws concerning special education to be changed and improved.
9. Expect home school communities to improve and organize efforts for intuitive learners.
10. Expect to find more hands-on guidance as to how to live with and nurture the intuitive child.
