Cooking for Winter Health

The World Health Organization has stated that the knowledge and sustainable use of medicinal plants is vital to providing sustainable health care to the worlds’ citizens. This class will teach you how to use herbs for winter wellness and how to incorporate the use of medicinal plants into your family’s lifestyle. Avoid the unhealthy side effects of antibiotics and over the counter cold medication. Together we will make herbal syrups, teas and honeys that everyone in the family will enjoy. Learn how to make restorative healing soups and foods that actually rid the body of colds. We will cover recipes to help with coughs, colds, sinus problems, sore throats and many other winter ailments.
Time: 6:30-9:00 pm
Cost: $40 plus $5 materials fee
Bring: 3 wide mouth glass jars to class (about 4 oz in size)

You will learn to care for yourself and your loved ones and experience preparing many different kinds of healing herbal medicines. Herbal teas, healing infusions, medicinal syrups, antibacterial honeys, cold and flu remedies and tonic winter foods are some of the projects we make together

Cultivating the Herbal Medicine Woman Within
This course provides you with a comprehensive foundation in using an integrative approach to herbology in your daily live. This is an in-depth, hands-on experience with the plants for women interested in exploring Herbology as a relationship with the Earth and a way of life. Come re-weave the web of knowing how to dance the seasons around and heal ourselves. There are two sessions for the 2006-2007 season. Class takes place on either one Friday or one Sunday each month, March 2007 through March 2008.
