PA: Western Wall Was 'not Jewish’ until 16th Century C.E. -ArutzSheva The Palestinian Authority’s rewriting of the Bible has reached a new peak – or low – with a “scientific study” claiming that Jews did not begin to claim a connection to the Western Wall (Kotel) until 500 years ago. The Western Wall, also known in pre-State times as the “Wailing Wall,” is the outer wall of the Second Temple compound, the only remaining structure from the compound, and has been a symbol of the deepest connection between most of the Jewish world, both religious and secular, and Judaism for two thousand years following the destruction of the Second Temple on the 9th of the Jewish month of Av in 70 C.E. From that date until the present, Jews came to mourn at the Wall, including the Spanish Jewish poet and philosopher Yehudah Halevi who is believed to have been killed while praying there in 1141. However, “Jews did not worship at the Wailing Wall at any time until the Balfour Declaration of 1917," according to a report on the “study” posted by the PA Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information D. Mutawakkil Taha. The report concludes that the “Occupying Power” of Israel has practiced "racism" and has conducted “massacres against the Wailing Wall and the Islamic and Christian sanctities. “Nor can any Muslim or Arab or Palestinian, for whatever reason, give up a single stone or piece of dust from the Wailing Wall or other holy places, because that would be a concession on the Temple Mount, Jerusalem and the holy sites.” The PA report was published one day after the Palestinian Authority castigated approval by the Israeli Cabinet for a multi-million dollar tourist center at the Western Wall area. The Palestinian Authority sad the plan was illegal because the area is claimed by the PA. The Temple Mount site itself is the holiest site in Judaism, but the Arab world the past several years has conducted a campaign the past several years to deny Biblical accounts of the Jewish First and Second Temples. The campaign also has included rewriting interpretations of the Bible, claiming that the “Binding of Isaac” actually was the “binding of Ishmael,” the forefather Abraham’s first son by the maidservant of his wife Sarah, who later gave birth to Isaac. Muslim clerics, despite protests by Israeli archaeologists, also have removed tons of debris from the Temple Mount area as part of an effort to eliminate any discoveries of remnants of the First and Second Temples. The body of a 70-year-old German woman washed up on the shore at Egypt's Sharm el-Sheikh on the Red Sea after an attack on Sunday. Officials said the shark had taken a chunk out of her right thigh and bitten through her right elbow. Wikileaks: Saudis, Gulf States Big Funders of Terror Groups Despite its ostensible position as one of the West’s key allies in fighting Islamic terror, it turns out, via Wikileaks, that Saudi Arabia is the source of the lion’s share of funding for the world’s worst terror groups – including Al Qaeda, the Taliban, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Hamas, and others. Much of the rest of the money these organizations get comes from other Gulf states, including Qatar and Kuwait. Saudi Arabia, along with other Gulf states, has expressed very little interest in changing the situation. The information came to light in the latest round of documents released Sunday by Wikileaks. In their communiques to the State Department, U.S. embassies in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states describe a situation in which wealthy private donors, often openly, lavishly support the same groups that Saudi Arabia claims to be fighting against. December 8, 2010: Nazareth Teens Arrested for Attempt to Spread Carmel Fire Two Israeli-Arab teenagers were arrested for attempting to spread the Carmel fire as the fire still raged, police revealed Wednesday. The two, residents of Nazareth ages 14 and 15, are accused of setting fires in the Ilut forest. The two young arsonists set a fire in Ilut on Friday, then fled from the scene. The fire caused significant damage, and forced firefighters to abandon their efforts fighting the Carmel fire in order to battle the blaze in Ilut. Arab League tells US to Help Set Borders for New PA State The Palestinian Authority government appeared this week to be circling the wagons and preparing to sever its ties with Israel, even as Arab foreign ministers recommended the United States take a tougher stance in recommending borders for a future PA state, in order to move the process forward. While several South American countries have announced their recognition of the PA as an independent, sovereign entity, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has hardened his refusal to resume final status talks with Israel. Arab leaders throughout the region have meanwhile told U.S. officials that the real problem is not Jewish construction in Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem -- Abbas's most recent excuse for not resuming final status talks. Rather, the U.S. must simply help the two sides decide where the borders of a new PA country should be, the Arab League said bluntly. December 12, 2010: Abbas to Mitchell: Israel Must Accept All PA Demands The Palestinian Authority on Tuesday rebuffed the latest American effort to convince it to sit down with Israel to negotiate the establishment of a new Arab state within Israel’s current borders. December 12, 2010: EU Affirms Readiness to Recognize a Palestinian State European Union reaffirms its readiness to recognize a Palestinian state at an “appropriate” time. However, it stopped short of an outright recognition. There has been pressure on the European Union to recognize a Palestinian state, particularly after the latest talks between the U.S. and Israel on a new construction freeze of Jewish homes in Judea and Samaria failed. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas urges EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton “to take a step towards recognition of the state of Palestine based on the 1967 borders,” chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erakat told AFP, referring to the lands occupied by Jordan between 1948 and 1967. December 16, 2010: Wiesenthal Center Warn Jews not to travel to Sweden Human rights organization issues travel advisory because Jews in Sweden "have been subject to anti-Semitic taunts and harassment." The Simon Wiesenthal Center, the Los Angeles-based human rights organization, has taken the unusual step of issuing a travel advisory about security concerns in Sweden because of growing anti-Jewish discrimination. “We reluctantly are issuing this advisory because religious Jews and other members of the Jewish community there have been subject to anti-Semitic taunts and harassment. There have been dozens of incidents reported to the authorities but have not resulted in arrests or convictions for hate crimes”, said the two Wiesenthal Center representatives in a statement. December 17, 2010: Arabs Vandalize Joshua’s Tomb More than a thousand Jewish worshippers from all over Israel who went up on Thursday to Joshua’s Tomb in the Samaria village of Timnat Heres were shocked to find that Arabs had vandalized the area with Arabic graffiti. This was not the first time that Arabs have vandalized the compound, but this time was particularly difficult, as entire walls in the compound were covered with the graffiti. The worshippers were also surprised to discover that this year, unlike in previous years, dozens of local Arabs gathered at the graveside and firmly demanded that the security forces who were present stop the dancing of some youths who broke into song and dance. The officers approached the youths and asked that they refrain from dancing and singing, but they refused and continued to dance for several minutes. The tradition of visiting the graves of the righteous has been maintained since the days of the Bible, where it is written that Joshua was buried in Timnat Heres, to the present day. Once in a while the IDF allows Israeli citizens to enter Joshua’s Tomb for prayer purposes. 'Israeli War Crimes' signs to go on Metro buses SEATTLE – "Israeli War Crimes," the enormous advertisement reads. "Your tax dollars at work." A group calling itself the Seattle Mideast Awareness Campaign has paid King County $1,794 so that 12 buses will carry that message around town, starting two days after Christmas. That's December 27: the two-year anniversary of Israeli attacks on Gaza, aimed at stopping rocket attacks and weapons smuggling. Ed Mast, a Seattle man who is a spokesperson for the group, says it’s not meant to be an anti-Israel message, but a message designed to generate discussion and awareness. Ever since neighboring Arab countries attacked Israel in 1948 as it became an independent country for the first time in 2,000 years, there were no borders, only temporary military lines defined by the 1949 “Armistice Lines” that ended, at least formally, the War for Independence. Although the “1967 borders” denote lines of separation, they have no basis in history, law, or fact,” Baker explained. “The 1949 armistice agreements specifically stated that such lines have no political or legal significance and do not prejudice future negotiations on boundaries,” he continued. “There are no provisions in any of the agreements signed between Israel and the Palestinians that require withdrawal to the ‘1967 borders.’ There were never any geographic imperatives that sanctify the 1967 lines." The "Armistice Lines” of 1949 were determined in agreements signed by Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon. They were not borders, Baker pointed out. “The armistice demarcation line represented nothing more than the forward lines of deployment of the forces on the day a ceasefire was declared…. The line was demarcated on the map attached to the armistice agreement with a green marker pen and hence received the name ‘Green Line.’ “The Security Council in its resolution stressed the temporary nature of the armistice lines that were to be maintained ‘during the transition to permanent peace in Palestine.'" The Armistice Agreement stated, “The basic purpose of the Armistice Demarcation Lines is to delineate the lines beyond which the armed forces of the respective Parties shall not move. The provisions of this article shall not be interpreted as prejudicing, in any sense, an ultimate political settlement between the Parties to this Agreement. "The Armistice Demarcation Lines defined in...this Agreement are agreed upon by the Parties without prejudice to future territorial settlements or boundary lines or to claims of either Party relating thereto." Baker quoted Judge Steven Schwebel, former President of the International Court of Justice, who stated in 1994, "The armistice agreements of 1949 expressly preserved the territorial claims of all parties and did not purport to establish definitive boundaries between them." December 22, 2010: Uproar Over Greek Priest's Jew-Hating Rant The European Jewish Congress (EJC) calls for the Greek Orthodox church to remove the Metropolite of Piraeus, Seraphim, after the high-ranking priest went off on an anti-Semitic rant on Greek TV. Speaking on the morning show on Mega-TV, the largest television station in Greece, Seraphim blamed world Jewry for Greece's financial problems. "Mixing Freemasons with Jewish bankers such as Baron Rothschild and world Zionism, the Metropolite said that there is a conspiracy to enslave Greece and Christian Orthodoxy," JTA reported. He also accused "international Zionism" of trying to destroy the family unit by promoting one-parent families and same-sex marriages. Thirteen minutes into the program the host asked Seraphim, "Why do you disagree with Hitler's policies? If they are doing all this, wasn't he right in burning them?" The Metropolite answered, "Adolf Hitler was an instrument of world Zionism and was financed from the renowned Rothschild family with the sole purpose of convincing the Jews to leave the shores of Europe and go to Israel to establish the new Empire." Jews such as "Rockefeller, Rothschild and Soros control the international banking system that controls globalization," he said. December 30, 2010: UN prepares to condemn Jewish life in Judea and Samaria At the behest of the Palestinian Authority, the UN Security Council is considers a draft resolution that condemns Jews for settling in the Jewish ancestral lands of Judea and Samaria, and demanding that Israel halt the practice altogether. Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat tells reporters that his government would soon be seeking official UN Security Council condemnation of Jewish communities in those areas claimed by the Palestinians as “illegal.” The Associated Press publishes a copy of the draft resolution authored by the Palestinian Authority. In it, Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria (the so-called “Jewish settlements”) are blasted as the “major obstacle to the achievement of peace.” The document goes on to claim that “Israeli settlements established in the Palestinian Territory occupied since 1967, including east Jerusalem, are illegal,” and demands that Israel “immediately and completely ceases all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory, including east Jerusalem.” The US State Department responded to the news by reiterating that Washington opposes taking these issues to the UN Security Council. However, because the current draft does not include operative steps, such as imposing sanctions on Israel, it is feared that the US will not veto the resolution should it come to a vote. Israeli officials warn that the more watered-down the resolution text is, the less likely the US is to block its adoption by the Security Council. Nevertheless, the Palestinians and Arab world will hold such a resolution aloft as further “proof” that the Jews have no legal right to reside in this land. The resolution is, of course, a misrepresentation of recent history and international law, not to mention totally contradictory to the biblical mandate. In the original British Mandate for Palestine adopted in 1923 (the only legally binding resolution on the issue of the land), the Jews were granted international recognition of their right to settle all parts of their ancient homeland. In 1948, in response to growing Arab pressure, the UN decided to propose (not impose) a division of the land that would have created an Arab state in Judea and Samaria. Israel agreed, the Arabs rejected. Legally, the deal was off the table. From that time until Israel’s liberation of the land in 1967, Judea and Samaria were occupied by neighboring Jordan.
