June 2:
New Superbug Found in Cows and People
A novel form of deadly drug-resistant bacteria that hides from a standard test has turned up in Europe. Researchers found the so-called MRSA strain in both dairy cows and humans in the United Kingdom, suggesting that it might be passed from dairies to the general population. But before you toss your milk, don't panic: The superbug isn't a concern in pasteurized dairy products.

San Francisco decides to vote on banning circumcision in the city. Offensive Anti-Semetic cartoons in the manner of the Nazis are used to promote legislation.
Defenders of legislation claim that it is about “human rights” and “protecting babies” from unnecessary procedures. Critics suspected there was "something vaguely anti-Semitic" about the whole proposal, since among Jews (and Muslims, as well) circumcising male babies is a religious duty, not just a medical procedure. Proponents against circumcision insist their proposal had nothing to do with Jews it’s all about the rights of children.
Is it? Funny, they do not show any Muslims in their campaign literature. They show Jews only, and in a manner of the Nazi propaganda materials from the Holocaust.
If any one wondered if the ban proponents were lying about their motives not being anti-semtic, we think the campaign literature for the upcoming circumcision ban answers any and all questions. The campaign comic book, called “Foreskin Man.” Its baby-saving superhero features a caste of evil Jews doing battle with blond Nordic saviors. The comic's illustrator's name is Hess. Makes us wonder if he is any relation to Rudolf.
Below are a few examples of images taken from Foreskin Man, the campaign brochure for San Francisco’s anti-circumcision ballot measure.

• Lightning Strikes Peres' Plane
During his stay in Italy, Peres met Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas, and the two reportedly discussed the stalled Israel-PA diplomatic process and possible ways to revive negotiations.
Officials at the president’s office refused to reveal details of the Peres-Abbas meeting in hopes of keeping them away from the press - and Israeli public - and refused to confirm whether the two spoke alone, but diplomatic sources hinted that such conversation indeed took place.
While Israeli presidents fill a ceremonial role and are expected to remain aloof from controversial or partisan issues like the peace process, it was reported in April that Peres and Abbas have maintained contacts away from the limelight in which they continue to pursue back-channel talks.
The Peres-Abbas meeting came despite Abbas’ insistence that Israel agree to preconditions before negotiations can begin, while simultaneously threatening he will launch a third intifada if negotiations fail.

Report: US [Obama] gives Netanyahu ultimatum on resuming talks
The United States issues Netanyahu ultimatum on renewing negotiations with the Palestinians.
Netanyahu given 1 month to decide whether he agrees to accept US President Barack Obama's platform and resume talks based on 1967 lines.
White House attempts damage control trying to spin Obama's ambush of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last month as not a sign of his hostility to the Jewish state, the administration spent the past week attempting to hammer Israel into submission on the question of the 1967 lines. As Eli Lake reported in the Washington Times on Friday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton renewed the demand that was the highlight of Obama’s May 26 Middle East policy speech: that Israel accept the 1967 lines as the starting point for future Middle East peace negotiations.
While the administration is trying to sell this pressure to Jewish supporters as being part of a master plan whose aim is to head off a vote in the United Nations on Palestinian statehood, it is a mistake to view it as anything other than a renewed attack on Netanyahu. Once again, the administration is misjudging both the Palestinians and the diplomatic situation.

Wave of anti-Israel zeal, demonization of Jews growing at alarming rate in Italy
The first months of 2011 have confirmed Italy’s status as one of Iran’s biggest European trade partners, all while the ayatollahs pursue the means to perpetuate a second Holocaust. Rome is doing business as usual with the greatest totalitarian threat to international peace and security since the defeats of Soviet communism and Nazi fascism, providing a lifeline to an Iranian regime that is cruel at home, sponsors terror abroad and preaches anti-Jewish revolt.

Lieberman: Oslo Void If PA Declares State
by Gavriel Queenann, INN
Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman told European Union counterpart Catherine Ashton on Friday a unilateral declaration of statehood by the Palestinian Authority would nullify the Oslo Accords. The 1993 Olso Accords, which stipulate a bilateral framework and proscribe unilateral moves, serve as the basis for economic, infrastructure, and security cooperation between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. "A move like that will be a violation of all the agreements that were signed until today. Israel will no longer be committed to the agreements signed with the Palestinians in the past 18 years," Lieberman said

By Amir Oren
The five nuclear experts killed in a plane crash in northern Russia earlier this week had assisted in the design of an Iranian atomic facility, security sources in Russia said on Thursday.
The five Russian experts were among the 44 passengers killed when the Tupolev-134 plane broke up and caught fire on landing outside the northern city of Petrozavodsk on Monday.
According to the sources, although Iranian nuclear scientists have in the past been involved in unexplained accidents and plane crashes, there is no official suspicion of foul play. Investigators are probing human error and technical malfunction as the causes of the crash.

• Ocean life 'facing mass extinction'
Pollution, global warming and other man-made problems are pushing the world's oceans to the brink of a mass extinction of marine life unprecedented in tens of millions of years, a consortium of scientists has warned. Dying coral reefs, biodiversity ravaged by invasive species, expanding open-water "dead zones," toxic algae blooms, and the massive depletion of big fish stocks are all accelerating, according to the report, which is due to be presented at the United Nations on Tuesday.
"We now face losing marine species and entire marine ecosystems, such as coral reefs, within a single generation,'' the report said.
The rate at which carbon is being absorbed by the ocean is already far greater than at the time of the last globally significant extinctions, which wiped out up to 50 per cent of some deep-sea animals, the report said.
Overfishing has also reduced some commercial fish stocks by more than 90 per cent.
"We are looking at consequences for humankind that will impact in our lifetime."

PM Says Abbas Must Recognize Israel's Jewishness Before Peace
PPrime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Thursday said an end to the Israeli-Arab conflict would come when Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas recognizes Israel as a Jewish State."I will accept a Jewish state," Netanyahu said demonstratively during his closing remarks at the Israeli Presidents Conference in Jerusalem.
Netanyahu's remarks come the day after Abbas indicated he was willing to soften his position on Israeli construction in Judea, Samaria, and eastern Jerusalem as a precondition to talks and would, in his words, "tolerate" only a "limited building freeze."
The remarks also precede the arrival of Quartet envoys in Brussels to discuss potential ways to restart the Israeli-Arab diplomatic process.
Netanyahu also said peace had eluded the two sides for 90 years because the 'Palestinians' never accepted Israel’s existence in the region, within any borders.

Australia joins Holland and New Zealand in Banning Kosher Slaughtering
Rabbi Mordechai Gutnick of Kosher Australia estimated up to 500 lambs a week were killed by kosher methods in Victoria. Calls to ban such practices were motivated in part by ignorance and anti-Semitism, he said. ''A ban would mean we would not be able to eat kosher meat. In our tradition the way the animal has to be killed is by quick cutting of the throat of the animal,'' he said. Stunning could kill an animal before it bled out, in violation of Jewish tradition, he claimed. Australian standards require livestock be rendered unconscious and insensible to pain before slaughter. Limited exceptions for cattle - broadly accepted by Muslim and Jewish groups - permit stunning with a captive-bolt pistol immediately after the throat is cut. ''We make a concession for beef because cattle have a tendency to be much stronger and resilient. Sheep literally become unconscious the moment the knife is cut across their throat. We believe such killing without stunning does result in immediate, painless death,'' he said.

The Salem Unit 2 nuclear plant remained shut down this afternoon following a problem with a reactor coolant pump, according to a spokesman for the plant’s operator.
Salem 2 automatically went offline Sunday at 6:01 p.m. when the coolant pump tripped, said Joe Delmar, spokesman for PSEG Nuclear.
When the pump shut down, the auxiliary pump system automatically started to provide water to cool the reactor.
The cause of the pump failure is still being investigated, according to Delmar. The plant functioned as designed, he said. Continue reading at: Pump Failure Causes Shutdown of Salem
• SANTA FE, N.M., June 27 (Reuters) - A raging wildfire on Monday briefly entered the property of the preeminent U.S. nuclear facility, Los Alamos National Laboratory, a vast complex that houses research laboratories and a plutonium facility.
A mandatory evacuation was ordered for the town of Los Alamos, which has a population of about 12,000. The speed at which the fire has grown surprises fire officials.
"The facility is very well protected from any kind of wild land fire threat," ... the facility survived a May 2000 wildfire that claimed some lab buildings and did more than $1 billion in damage.

The World Council of Churches declares the Jewish State "a sin" and "occupying power," at Conference.
Ynet News
The World Council of Churches, an ecumenical Christian body based in Genève and boasting 590 million worshippers, just ended a four-day conference in the Greek city of Volos. Not a single word of criticism was uttered there against the Islamists who are persecuting Arabs who believe in Jesus.
Lutherans arrived to Volos from the United States, Catholics and Protestants from Bethlehem and Nazareth, Orthodox Christians from Greece and Russia, lecturers from Beirut and Copts from Egypt. The conference declared the Jewish State "a sin" and "occupying power," accused Israelis of "dehumanizing" the Palestinians, theologically dismantled the "choseness" of the Jewish people and called for "resistance" as a Christian duty.
The conference denied 3,000 years of Jewish life in the land stretching between the Mediterranean and the Jordan River, took sides against the very presence of Israel, likened the defensive barrier that has blocked terrorism to "apartheid," attacked Jewish homes in Judea and Samaria invoking the name of God and conceptually dismissed the Jewish state, imagining it to be a mixture - Islamic, Christian and perhaps a bit Jewish. It even legitimized terrorism when it talked about the "thousands of prisoners who languish in Israeli jails," proclaiming that "resistance to the evil of occupation is a Christian's right and duty."

124 Refused Entrance to Israel, Jailed
Hundreds of anti-Israel activists arrived at Ben Gurion International Airport on Friday as part of a “fly in flotilla.” Border officials refused to grant 124 of them entrance, and they were brought to Givon and Ela prisons to await deportation.
Those refused entrance citizens of Belgium, Germany, Spain, France, Holland, and the United States were on a list sent out to airports in advance of the planned fly-in. Another 200 of those whose names were on the list were prevented from boarding planes to Israel.
Many others successfully entered Israel. From there, some continued to a Palestinian Authority-controlled region of Samaria, where they joined a riot in the village of Nabi Salah during which they clashed with Israeli troops.
Others are believed to have taken part in a second riot, near the Kalandia checkpoint outside Jerusalem.
The “fly in” and Nabi Salah demonstration were both meant to protest in favor of the PA demand that millions of descendants of Arabs who fled pre-state Israel in the 1940s be offered Israeli citizenship.

U.S. backs Lebanon on maritime border dispute with Israel
In the next few days Israel will submit to the United Nations its take on where its maritime economic border with Lebanon should be, as the two countries scramble for gas reserves estimated to be worth billions of dollars.
Israel’s position is due to be approved by the cabinet on Sunday; Jerusalem argues that Lebanon’s proposal includes major areas belonging to Israel.
The Foreign Ministry official said Israel had asked the Americans to relay a warning to Lebanon on the matter. Foreign Ministry officials told Hof that Israel would not allow a provocation on the matter or an attack on Israeli gas installations. They said Israel would consider such an attack an attack on its sovereign territory and would retaliate “strongly” against Lebanon.
“It’s important to provide the UN with the Israeli version of the border as soon as possible, to react to Lebanon’s unilateral move,” a senior Foreign Ministry official told Haaretz. “Not responding could be interpreted as a tacit agreement. We must act fast to ensure Israel’s economic rights in these areas.”
UN ‘Human Rights’ Official Apologizes to Jews and Animals
INN
The United Nations Human Rights Council’s special rapporteur on Palestinian rights, Richard Falk, has published an “apology” for the publication of an anti-Semitic cartoon showing a kippah (skullcap)-wearing dog on his Internet blog.
The apology, however, is just as offensive, as it is directed equally toward both Jews and animals, as if each was insulted by being compared to the other.
It shows Lady Liberty taking her dog for a walk. The dog wears a shirt labeled “USA” and dons a Jewish kippah on its head. It is shown gobbling a pile of bloody human bones while wetting Lady Liberty’s foot.
Falk responded on that same day by saying: "It is a complete lie. I know nothing about such a cartoon, and would never publish such a thing, ever." Later that day he deleted the cartoon. He explained: "Maybe I do not understand the cartoon, and if it offends in this way I have removed it from the blog. It may be in bad taste to an extent I had not earlier appreciated, but I certainly didn’t realize that it could be viewed as anti-semitic, and still do not realize."
In another post Wednesday he commented: "I did not perceive any racist connotations, and certainly no anti-semitic implications, and since it offends people I have removed it without understanding why." He also blamed his imperfect eyesight, at age 80, for causing him to think that the dog's Star of David-adorned kippah was a helmet.
Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Chair of the House Foreign Affairs CommAfter initially denying that he had even published the cartoon, Falk removed it from his blog. He issued this “apology”:
"With apologies, I realize that the cartoon... had strongly anti-Semitic symbolism that I had not detected before it was pointed out to me...
Bank of China Being Sued for Ties to Hamas
A Judge in the Supreme Court of the State of New York ruled Friday that a lawsuit filed by a group of 84 Israeli terror victims against the Bank of China can proceed.
The 84 plaintiffs, who include family members of victims of terrorist bombings and rocket attacks carried out by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hamas in 2006 and 2007, are claiming that the Bank of China facilitated the attacks by providing wire transfer services to both terror groups.
Between that date and January 2007, the Bank of China carried out dozens of wire transfers for the two terror organizations, totaling several million dollars.
Most of the transfers, which were initiated by the two organizations' leaderships including in Iran and Syria, were made to a single account in Guangzhou, China belonging to Said al-Shurafa, whom the plaintiffs claim is a senior operative and agent of both Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
According to information provided by the plaintiffs, Shurafa then transferred the funds from his account to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hamas coffers in the West Bank and Gaza "for the purpose of planning, preparing for and executing terrorist attacks."
The Bank of China responded that Hamas is not considered a terrorist organization in China," added Leitner.
